Ivy Tech Sellersburg was a wonderful stepping stone for me as a middle-aged adult returning to school after more than 20 years. I had been a stay-at-home mom who put college and career on hold—my two oldest children were graduating college just as I was returning. At Ivy, I met some incredible people and gained the confidence to pursue bigger goals. That experience helped me decide to transfer to the University of Louisville to earn my bachelor’s degree in Biology, with the long-term goal of continuing on to a PhD program, hopefully in microbiology. I never would have believed that was possible without the supportive environment at Ivy Tech. The mentoring, smaller class sizes, and professors who genuinely cared about teaching and student success made a huge difference. The academics were rigorous and prepared me well for the transfer to UofL. If I had to name a downside, it would be the online courses. In my experience, they were often taught by career professionals rather than educators with extensive experience in curriculum design or higher-level teaching. Because of that, I strongly recommend taking any subject you expect to find challenging in person when possible. As a non-traditional student, I actually felt like I belonged more at Ivy than I do at UofL. Ivy is structured to support students like me—older, returning learners balancing school with family or work. My only suggestion would be to offer more courses in a traditional 15–16 week format, rather than only 8-week terms, which can feel extremely fast-paced. That’s a personal preference, but one I heard echoed by both students and instructors. And finally, Ivy Tech has entirely more fun activities than UofL. I was always getting free food, sometimes a T-shirt, hat, or other surprise item. Clubs and details on events were well advertises. Wynobi, the campus activities coordinator, is a ray of sunshine—he’s welcoming, encouraging, and always smiling. He was the first person I met on my first visit to the campus. He greeted me, offered me food, and made me feel instantly welcomed and accepted. If you’re on the fence about going back to school, just do it. You’ll probably do far better than you think—I know I did. Thank you, Ivy Tech Sellersburg, for giving me the confidence to restart my college journey. You’ll always be a special part of my story.

Had a wonderful political science professor and sociology professor from Ivy Tech Community College from Sellersburg, IN., who went to teach at my high school in rural Austin, IN. They were both great thinkers and extremely open minded. Taught me a lot. They really did a fantastic job representing that community college and put them on university standards.

I liked it at first. They never tell you that no matter how hard you try...sometimes it all comes down to money...if you keep retaking classes constantly to get all A's you may get in. Notice I said "MAY". If you dont retake and retake classes to get straight A's ..you might as well forget it. Save yourself some time and money and go to the more expensive schools who let you actually live your dream and accept your honest passing grade efforts. Go to Galen or another college of nursing if you want to pursue your career sooner rather than later and keep sitting in class giving your money away only to find out your gonna keep getting the shaft and never reaching your dreams . you only live once... Spend the extra money to get done faster and dont get the run around and put down when your giving it all you got and are passing. You are worth something to someone! Its what they dont tell you.... its not about trying and passing with them. It all comes down to who spends more to retake classes and retake classes to make all A's. Sometimes a school needs to be realistic that not everyone is straight A's in every class nor do people have that kind of money to keep throwing away to reach unrealistic goals in individual circumstances. Passing grades and effort doesnt mean your going anywhere here. Sorry to say.......If i can say one thing....if you arent naturally a genius...rethink...

This saddens me. I went here 2016-17 year and I had left to do an accelerated program in my career. I had no issues with the school then. I’ve been a Dental Assistant for 2 years now. I wanted to retake a couple classes and get better grades for the Hygiene program I wanted to get into. I’ve been put in circles of people sending me to someone else and getting NOWHERE! I was told not to retake a course bc it could damage my Gpa and I was like okay that’s my choice but I want to do better. So what I take a course a 3rd time, it’s my money, my aid I do what I feel necessary. I get an email to email their Anderson campus. They had the nerve to tell me I need to CHANGE careers and maybe try being an assistant instead. Lmfao what school tells you to do something else? I was told I’d be getting an email in a few days. It’s been 2 weeks I’ve called and emailed. My advisor is MIA and has been for a month! I canceled my aid and attempting to drop classes which is also a joke because I can’t get ahold of anyone to do that. I will never attend another ivy tech nor recommend it. My future children will NEVER go here either. I’m gladly taking my education and...
