Cristal (manager on duty) and Shelby (general manager) are lacking basic customer service skills, as well as empathy. While I stood in their lobby for an hour because they “could not locate” my reservation that was made on March 23rd, despite showing multiple confirmation emails. The front desk person, though friendly and much more kind than her supervisors, was obviously lacking training and support - she was brand new and clearly nervous to be alone on a holiday weekend. When she called for help, I explained that we were here to visit family in the area and were late to see someone who was ill - Cristal and Shelby were ambivalent to this and didn’t sympathize with the stressful situation I was in. We couldn’t wait any longer and gave in and paid the available rate. I sent an email to the manager to discuss this further but no response. Cristal and Shelby refused to honor the reservation that I had made two months ago, told me to take it up with booking.com or pay their current (higher) rate. While I am also following up with booking re: their responsibility in this fiasco, The Hampton Inn is a participant in the booking.com network and has their own responsibility to ensure their booking partner has the correct contact information to appropriately coordinate and confirm reservations. The hotel staff took no responsibility and could not have cared less about the predicament I was in. Never have I stayed at a hotel that wouldn’t honor a previously made reservation, especially due to a booking snafu. After checking in we went down to use the pool - it and the hot tub were both very dirty, the spa jets were broken, and no towels were available in sight. The room that the managers were haggling with me for is overlooking a boot barn. We will stay elsewhere next time we are in Selma and you should too…

UPDATE: They did resolve the incident with me and gave me what I deserve within 72 hrs. But what’s done is done, so take it as a lesson. It was the worst experience I had ever had. This Hampton Inn Selma was overbooked, it gave me a confirmation email and I had made a payment to secure the reservation. However, on the day of check-in and at 3PM check-in time, the manager of this Hampton Inn Crystal tried to contact me and asked me to response and confirm the reservation within 1 hour of the call; However, I was hiking at the Sequoia National Park and I wasn't able to receive the phone call due to lack of cellular signal. When I got back from the National Park, I was expected to head to the hotel and have a hot shower, but I received an email saying my reservation was cancelled. So technically speaking, the manager cancelled my reservation without my authorization. It gave me a lot of anxiety that I had to find another hotel at late night and most of the hotels were all ready sold out. We ended up with paying a lot higher price for a super super bad motel stay. Afterward, I argued with this manager Crystal at Hampton Inn Selma, she admitted that that's their mistake, but the only compensation he/she could offer was a refund of the payment and 2000 points (which sounds like 20 bucks for me). We payed double more price and the only compensation was $20, we do not accept this. I will reflect this issue to Hilton until it has an acceptable resolution. It's ironic to ask me how's my stay.

Let’s start off by saying I came here and started off bad. I had purchased the hotel In Selma Alabama so I lost $150 dollars. The front desk guy was nice and let me vent. He was professional and did his best to make everything go smooth and fast. Then I woke up in the morning and had easily the best hotel breakfast anyone could ask for. Eggs were perfect, the chicken sausage patties were good, the waffle maker made them perfectly crispy. 3 different options for everything. Bagels, juices, coffee, waffles even had options. Kathrine did an amazing job in the kitchen. Just the breakfast alone will bring me back to another stay. The room was clean and the AC blew cold air all night. Food 100/10 room 10/10 staff 10/10 gym 10/10

I made a prepaid reservation at Hampton Inn Selma and received a confirmation email, assuming everything was set. However, on the day of check-in at 3:00 PM (the standard check-in time), the hotel manager tried to call me and asked me to confirm the reservation within one hour, or it would be cancelled.||Unfortunately, I was hiking in Sequoia National Park at the time and had no cell signal, so I never saw the call. When I finally left the park around 9:00 PM and checked my phone, I found an email saying that my reservation had been cancelled. No additional follow-up, no waiting, no understanding of the situation.||The manager cancelled my fully paid reservation without my authorization. I was left scrambling to find a hotel late at night during Memorial Day weekend, when almost everything was already sold out. We ended up paying much more for a terrible motel—an experience far below what we had expected.||When I contacted the hotel, the manager admitted it was their mistake due to overbooking. Yet, the only compensation they offered was a refund and 25,000 Hilton Honors points, which is less than a free night, I originally paid 224 for a 2 queens room. That’s insulting, especially considering we had to pay double the original price for a far worse experience.||This whole situation caused a lot of stress, inconvenience, and ruined what should have been a relaxing evening. I’ve stayed with Hilton many times before, but this incident seriously damaged my trust in the brand. I will continue to escalate this with Hilton until there is a fair resolution.||It’s honestly laughable that they still sent me a follow-up email asking, “How...
