Cristal (manager on duty) and Shelby (general manager) are lacking basic customer service skills, as well as empathy. While I stood in their lobby for an hour because they “could not locate” my reservation that was made on March 23rd, despite showing multiple confirmation emails.
The front desk person, though friendly and much more kind than her supervisors, was obviously lacking training and support - she was brand new and clearly nervous to be alone on a holiday weekend. When she called for help, I explained that we were here to visit family in the area and were late to see someone who was ill - Cristal and Shelby were ambivalent to this and didn’t sympathize with the stressful situation I was in. We couldn’t wait any longer and gave in and paid the available rate. I sent an email to the manager to discuss this further but no response.
Cristal and Shelby refused to honor the reservation that I had made two months ago, told me to take it up with booking.com or pay their current (higher) rate. While I am also following up with booking re: their responsibility in this fiasco, The Hampton Inn is a participant in the booking.com network and has their own responsibility to ensure their booking partner has the correct contact information to appropriately coordinate and confirm reservations. The hotel staff took no responsibility and could not have cared less about the predicament I was in. Never have I stayed at a hotel that wouldn’t honor a previously made reservation, especially due to a booking snafu.
After checking in we went down to use the pool - it and the hot tub were both very dirty, the spa jets were broken, and no towels were available in sight. The room that the managers were haggling with me for is overlooking a boot barn. We will stay elsewhere next time we are in Selma and...

Read moreI made a prepaid reservation at Hampton Inn Selma and received a confirmation email, assuming everything was set. However, on the day of check-in at 3:00 PM (the standard check-in time), the hotel manager tried to call me and asked me to confirm the reservation within one hour, or it would be cancelled.||Unfortunately, I was hiking in Sequoia National Park at the time and had no cell signal, so I never saw the call. When I finally left the park around 9:00 PM and checked my phone, I found an email saying that my reservation had been cancelled. No additional follow-up, no waiting, no understanding of the situation.||The manager cancelled my fully paid reservation without my authorization. I was left scrambling to find a hotel late at night during Memorial Day weekend, when almost everything was already sold out. We ended up paying much more for a terrible motel—an experience far below what we had expected.||When I contacted the hotel, the manager admitted it was their mistake due to overbooking. Yet, the only compensation they offered was a refund and 25,000 Hilton Honors points, which is less than a free night, I originally paid 224 for a 2 queens room. That’s insulting, especially considering we had to pay double the original price for a far worse experience.||This whole situation caused a lot of stress, inconvenience, and ruined what should have been a relaxing evening. I’ve stayed with Hilton many times before, but this incident seriously damaged my trust in the brand. I will continue to escalate this with Hilton until there is a fair resolution.||It’s honestly laughable that they still sent me a follow-up email asking, “How...
