Cattlemens — Restaurant in Selma

Absolutely disgusted with this place. Done. No more giving them chances. I will lay it all out. I have logged 5 official complaints relatively minor for the most part. Now one might say "5 complaints and you still go in there to dine ?!" Well here is why we gave them so many chances. We have been going here as a family since 2010. From 2010 - 2020. I never complained once everything was done correctly. Something changed here early 2022. Most of my warranted complaints are from 2022. We normally frequent this place about 6-8 times per year at $100-$150 per experience. That's about $600-$900 per year we would spend here. Not to mention the drive from NE Fresno where we live off of Cedar & Teague avenues near Clovis West High School. I'm not going to get into previous experiences just the one from yesterday 8/9/2024 at 930pm. #1 - Hostess tried to seat us right next to a big loud party which at that time was the only occupied table in the whole restaurant in our area so we had to ask if we could seat further away so we could enjoy our privacy and actually hear are own conversation without the ambient noise from the party table. Sad how we had to ask for that how is that not common sense ? Is the server that lazy that she wants to cram all of her section in one area when the rest of the restaurant was empty at that time wth ? #2 - We ordered Shrimp Cocktail which came out lukewarm, not chilled and rubbery tasting. Now that was the first time we had a problem with the shrimp like you could see and smell that it wasn't right. I took a bite to check and sure enough I spit it out into a napkin. Not to mention it took 20 minutes to get the shrimp out on a relatively quiet friday night. So the server wasn't busy at all she only had the party, our table of two and one other table of two. So why so long to get out our appetizer ? How long was it sitting before being brought to our table ? Absolutely no excuse for that. #3 - Drinks took 9 minutes to get yes we timed it. Bread took 12 minutes and the butter was warm and soft. #4 - Salad was the worst I have ever seen. Big cuts of warm dry romaine. We asked for "just" cucumbers on the side instead she put everything on the side in small containers ? Like are we not paying attention to what the customer ask ? Dressing wasn't even cold. Normally the salads here are good but for some reason was terrible last night even the tomatoes looked rotten. #5 - Ordered Coke it was flat and syrupy. So went with a tall Modelo instead geez beer was flat and old. When did that Keg get tapped like it was at the bottom kind of taste and I know my beer having been a bartender at Landmark in Fresno from '07-'09. #6 - The biggest issue with this location is UNDERCOOKED NEW YORK STEAKS. Like wth is wrong with these cooks ? Seriously though this isn't a joke. Order med rare comes out blue and undercooked 75% of the time its like gambling maybe it will come out good or maybe not and don't dare complain because we don't want the manager to get in trouble from corporate after seeing these countless reviews for undercooked steak. Like don't take just my word for it look at the pattern of bad reviews for this place in Selma particularly and you will see similarities between complaints. Its not just one party complaining its multiple complaints about the same damn thing. How the hell you call yourself the best steak in the West LoL if you cant even grill steaks to the correct temperature. . #7 - Why do the beans always come out warm not piping hot ?! Sent beans back to get re heated we NEVER GOT OUR BEANS BACK UNTIL THE CHECK WAS DROPPED OFF LIKE 20 MINUTES LATER ! #8 - Mashed potatoes were cold. #9 - Ribs were average . CONCLUSION - We will never come back here. This place is OK. I had a higher expectation of this place based on how I hear people comment how good this place is. We went to have dinner to celebrate a friend and my birthdays, and I have to admit, I was very disappointed with the food, our waitress and drinks. The host at the door was very friendly and the gentleman filling our water glasses was good, however that is basily the only good things I can say about this place. To start off we made a reservation for a party of 5, when we were escorted to our table it was set for 4. We asked for an additional table setting and we were told one would be brought, the bread and butter were brought out, and I ended up having to grab a table setting from the table next to us. The waitress came to our table (I think her name was Amber or Amanda) asking for our drinks and when it was my turn she said "and what do you want?" Yikes, seriously? She brought our drinks, and was reaching over us to hand them out instead of going around the table. I ordered the Cowboy Lemonade, it was OK. Waitress took our order for appetizers and when she brought them, again she was reaching over the table to give them out. I ordered a medium well steak and shrimp scampi with mash potatoes. And guess what? She was reaching over the table to give us our plates when she brought them out. My steak was tough and with alot of nerves, fat and not cooked medium well, it was cooked medium rare ( I couldn't and didn't eat it), the shimps were very small and the mash potatoes were nothing special. Our server never came to check if we needed anything else. One of my guest flagged her down and said to her "we are here celebrating both of their birthdays (she pointed to my friend and me)." She looked at us and said "ok, I'll bring something." The waitress came back with two ice creams, she stood next to me placed one on the table a slid it over to my friend who was sitting next to me, and she grabbed the other one and slammed it next to me on the table. I'm only speaking for myself, but we all did comment amongst ourselves that the waitress was rude and the food was not that good. This place is the worst dining experience ive had in the usa Do yourself a favour and go to Dennys instead We arrived ten minutes before our booked time (yes we had reservations) we were not seated until an hour after our booked time After 30mins of waiting to get seated we asked (politely) About how long and the front desk person said that they only have two tables for groups our size (8 adults no kids) which is clearly untrue as when we were finally seated we walked past heaps of table and they were all the same size as ours The table behind our was stacked with dirty plates from previous dinners (who had long since left) and remained so for the duration of our stay. The plates were poorly cleaned We got our starters while 6 of our party still didnt have cutlery The food was just as bad I ordered a medium rare steak which came out drier than the Nullarbor Plain.
