Cape Fear Surf Shop — Local services in Shallotte

We just visited the cape fear surf shop and as we were walking up on the front deck to the door, my fiance touched the hand rail which has wet, yellow paint and there is no sign notifying the people. Luckily he didn't get any of it on his new shirt or shorts he just purchased & wearing. So as we walked in my fiance asked the clerk at the register if they knew there was wet paint outside & she instantly said "yes" with a peppy, sarcastic smirk. So my fiance proceded to tell her that there isn't a sign notifying people of there being wet paint & she again responded rudely and sarcastically saying "yeah, we know". Just blew my mind as to the bad attitude she had that I just asked my family to leave with me and we just walked out. We called to speak to the manager & the same rude lady answered the phone so we left a message for the manager to give us a call, because she said he was not in & that he would be back in a hour. When my fiance said it was in regards of the lady being rude over the wet paint she made sure to let him know that she was the lady, whom my fiance was speaking with and argued the fact that she was not rude & had witness to it. She was rude & it would have been her bad if my fiance or child would have gotten wet paint on their clothes that she does not buy nor purchase. I do not recommend this store, only because of the poor behavior of one, rude staff member because we never even got the chance to browse & shop through the store. Being a local and regular customer at this store, I have to say this shop has the best selection of name brand clothing (shirts, hats, pants/shorts, shoes, sunglasses, men/women swim attire, wallets, hand bags, wet suits) such as Roxy, Hurley, Fox, Vans, Body Glove, Hey Dude, and soooo many more I would bore you listing them all! They also sell NEW & USED surfboards as well as RENT surfboards in case you were looking to try out this exciting sport! Pricing on boards is quite fair and not overpriced. I am looking to purchase my next board here in the near future. Finally, the owner of the store is very nice and always polite not only to me, but all the customers who stop in. If you have never been here, make sure to stop by next time you are around! It will be hard for anyone not to find at least one...

We shopped the Cape Fear Surf Shop at Holden Beach with 3 kids ages 6 to 10. The kids were pretty well-behaved but they were "browsing"... and I have to say, the staff including the owner was so nice and patient with all of us. There was an air of relaxation and total tolerance... the staff spoke to the kids and they were kind to all 3... There is even a gumball machine that is pretty loud and multiple plays of that (a highlight of the week for the kids!!) did not phase the staff!
