Arrived late due to a major traffic accident & several hours of rerouting on back roads plus construction area delays. After checking in and going to room there were several issues 1. was not the room we reserved 2. room had an odor. When I called the desk about the odor in the room, was told that there were no other rooms available. Discovered there was not an iron in the room. When the clerk brought the iron, she said our reservation was for only (1) night - advised her that our confirmed reservation was for (2) nights. A cancellation/late cancel showed up in my Hilton Honors files, different reservation # then showed up in my Hilton Honors files. Do not understand why 1."Cancellation- late cancel" was done 2. do not understand why my confirmation # was changed w/o my approval or knowledge. The King suite had obvious lack of attention to detail: 1. iron missing 2. only 1/2 roll of toilet paper (no back up) 3. did not have "Do Not Disturb" sign 4. coffee maker did not have any regular coffee K cups 5. security lock on door was inoperative. The Hilton Garden Inn (HGI) – Uniontown, PA totally disregarded my reservation & type of room reserved. Had no choice but to stay in the room with the odor on Saturday night. During Sunday morning conversation w/Manager it was stated our reservation was still only for (1) night. After further discussions manager had a room cleaned to allow move from the room with the odor. In town for a Memorial Service & other items but as a result of having to make the move to another room had to adjust our schedule & remove some items from schedule. Room moved to was the type of room reserved – King bed, handheld shower wand & high seat toilet, shower seat. During Sunday morning conversation w/manager she said my credit card was disapproved when the HGI, Uniontown, PA tried to put my reservation in the system in the afternoon prior to my arrival. When asked about the issue w/my credit card & if HGI advises a customer of this the manager said this is done via email. I am still waiting to see this email from the HGI, Uniontown, PA. Do not understand why they would put the reservation in the system when I had a confirmed reservation w/a valid credit card which was accepted at time of the reservation. Advised the manager that the first mention of my credit card declined was during check in. The manager said that was why they upgraded me to a King suite – reminded manager that it was NOT an upgrade – it was the only room available – which she acknowledged. When we called the desk on Sunday morning and inquired what time breakfast ended, we were told 1000 hours, so we went out for breakfast (another change to our schedule). Monday morning during checking out at ~ 0915 hours & asked about breakfast hours told by the manager it ended at 0900 hours but there were some people finishing breakfast & you could see if they would serve us. During breakfast I asked the waiter what the weekend & weekday hours were: he told us weekend breakfast hours ended at 1100 hours and weekday breakfast hours ended at 1000 hours. At checkout the manager advised that I would only be charged for Sunday night & there would be no charge for Saturday night. Key Points: Did not get room that confirmed reservation was for. Room assigned on Saturday night. a. Odor in room b. Lack of attention to detail in room i. iron missing ii. only 1/2 roll of toilet paper (no back up roll on shelves) iii. did not have "Do Not Disturb" sign iv. coffee maker did not have any regular coffee K cups v. security lock on door was inoperative. c. The HGI – Uniontown, PA totally disregarded my reservation and the type of room reserved. d. HGI, Uniontown, PA unilaterally changed my reservation from (2) nights to (1) night. i. Had to work with HGI to get this resolved. Felt that I was getting the run around when I inquired about why I did not get the room I reserved. a. If I had not shown I would have been charged for the room. I would be hard pressed to recommend or stay again at the HGI,...
Read moreThe day before (Friday) our stay I received an early check in by email. I went to do the early check in but found out it stated "Not Found" on the internet. Ouch! I had a wedding to attend at 1 PM on Saturday. So, I decided to stop at the hotel at 12 PM Saturday to check in and get our room keys. The male receptionist gave me the keys and told me my room was not ready. (I traveled an hour and 45 minutes away to get to this hotel). I went to the church wedding not able to freshen up. After the church wedding, I stopped at the hotel 3:30 PM to go to my room. My room was not even ready. Sheets and pillows were on the floor. I found the housekeeper, she told me they were under staffed and they didn't have time to do my room. We had to catch the shuttle to go to the reception at 4:15. Still my room was not clean. We had to get ready in a restroom for the reception. We had to place our suitcases back in our car, we couldn't leave them in our room due to our room keys not working. We went to the only hotel receptionist (who was overwhelmed because he had a line of people who were clear out the entrance door trying to get checked in) to go to tell him our keys didn't work, he gave us new keys, and told us our room will be ready when we get back from the wedding reception which was 11:00 PM. Seriously! Well, our room was ready at 11 PM. We went to the downstairs bar to meet up with the wedding party and guests, to find out they only had 1 bartender working. We were told at 12:45 AM it was last call by the manager. Imagine a bar / reception area with 40 people and 1 bartender. They knew ahead of time that 2 wedding parties and guests were staying in this motel, don't you think they would have had more help? What a night! The room was so muggy. The air conditioner kept kicking on and off making loud noises. This kept us up all night. In the morning at check out, I told the female receptionist about the check in process, she gave me a 15.00 discount. OMG, being a Hilton Honors Member you would think they would give me a bigger discount or even a free night stay with points. I would not suggest this motel to anyone. There are plenty of other motels in the vicinity of...
Read moreSuper clean, open floor plan in the main entrance, hip vibe with plenty of common places to hang out.
Pros: The room was a good/common size, tastefully decorated, and super clean. TV swivels to any direction, two chairs in the room, and pretty good black out shades. Had two queens beds and if you wanted to bring a single air mattress or play pen, you could move some furniture and have room for it. Close to lots of restaurants. Breakfast buffet is very affordable, $7 and had something for everyone. You will not find a $7 buffet anywhere else.
Cons: Employee at the desk seemed annoyed and not welcoming at all. When I later came back down to purchase some snacks, she seemed annoyed again, like I was taking her away from something because I wanted to pay for my pop corn. I wish the shower door could open on the other side because they way they have it set up, you get blasted with hot or cold water when you turn it on. On the morning of checkout, the housekeepers came to our door 4 times to see if we were ready to check out. Um, excuse me,I get to stay until checkout time if I want. They started knocking three hours before check out and even opened our door! They knocked and one second later they opened the door. So unprofessional and intrusive. The mattress tapered off on the sides, like people frequently sit on the side of the bed and it starts to depress on the sides, and I felt like I was falling off the bed all night. The website , and the hold message if you call, raves about the Keurig coffee machines but they barely give you coffee to use in it. There was one regular, one decaf, and one hot tea capsule. But I drink regular and so does my husband. So we had to choose who got the regular and who suffered with decaf. We went downstairs to find coffee, like they have at the Hampton Inn, and there was none to be found, not even for purchase. So disappointing. We ended up going to a gas station for coffee. And, the coffee that was in the room was terrible.
Warnings: Nothing to warn about
Takeaway: Decent value for the money but prefer a Hampton Inn but also better then a Days Inn or Holliday Inn. A smile from the staff and a good cup of coffee would have made this stay...
