We are currently driving across PA to go to an event over the weekend and figured we would try a new place out and was craving some good Mexican food. We found this place on Google maps and it had a solid 4.5 rating so we thought we would check it out and see.
When we pulled up we found that the parking lot was pretty packed which is a pretty good sign. When we walked in we got seated right away and the service was pretty good. we both ordered some flavored margs because the had a special deal on the margs! They turned out actually really well I tried the Banana Marg and the blue Marg while my fiancee got strawberry. These honestly where the highlight of the meal and sad to say if they didn't turn out to be so good I would have gave them a 2 or less.
The chips and salsa where very very very underwhelming. The chips where stale and and cold so definitely not fresh and the salsa had very little flavor I would rather have had some Pace Picante and some store bought chips. From there we got an appetizer which was queso fundido which was extremely underwhelming again and had very little flavor and the meat which should have been Chorizo tasted more like ground beef.
The most disappointed part of the meal though was the main meal I got camarones con crema which is one of my favorites when I go to a Mexican restaurant and I haven't found a good one sense I moved out here from the west coast. Honestly I think this is the worst one that I have had :( it was quiet sad, the flavor wasn't there once again and the cheese sauce that they used tasted like watered down American cheese slices. Also my Fiancee meal wasn't much better she got chicken enchiladas and it came out with very little sauce and dry. She said it is one of the better Mexican rices that she has had sense we have come out to the mid west. But honestly I don't think I would come back on our...
Read moreI wouldn't call it the best Mexican I've had and not the worst either. The cheese dip is definitely on point and would highly recommend you try it out. I used it for the chips as well as adding it on top of my dinner to add some flavor. The salsa was decent, but I've been spoiled with chipotle salsa, and this one just doesn't compare to what I'm used to on the regular. The chips were good, not too salty with a good crunch. I had the carnitas plate for dinner and it was a very large portion of food, but the flavor was not as bold as I would expect. Adding some of the cheese dip and salsa on top made it a bit better. I had at least half of meal left over to take to go. I have not had fried ice cream in a very long time so decided I wanted to have a go at it and that was very delicious, so would recommend that if you have room for dessert. All in all, an OK experience. The general flavor of the meat was lacking but go for the cheese dip and add on the fried ice cream and should be a...
Read moreCame here after being a long time customer over at Fiesta Azteca but having had a lot of really bad experiences over there recently-- brought my mom for her birthday today, she wanted Mexican but I was really wary after FA giving my friend food he's allergic to and receiving a sharp piece of plastic in my burrito. And I have to say I was REALLY impressed. My mom was overjoyed with her food, (she got the special dinner and mentioned that the tamale was the best she's had, and she hasn't had good tamale since she moved across the county decades ago). She's big on tamales. I got the Burrito Patron, the Verde sauce was AWESOME and I love avocado, the avocado wasn't brown or mushy like I get in a lot of places. You could really see the effort they put into the plates. But the best part was the server. I didn't catch his name, but he was funny, warm, and kind, and really shines in what he does. Thank you for making my mom's birthday special sir, you are appreciated...
