WE PICKED UP BED BUGS FROM HERE!
PROS: Staff was great during the day, rooms have been renovated, air conditioner worked, next to a movie theatre, Home Depot, Dunkin Doughnuts, close to the highway, dog friendly with grassy area in front & dog bags, did have a microwave & mini refridgerator , offered a weekly rate which works out to better than the nightly rate-should have been our first red flag...
CONS: Night staff rude (mainly this one girl) and smoking in the entrance, halls are falling apart, carpet is filthy, doors are rotted, the cleaning staff could do better, coffee maker dirty, place stinks of cleaner and cigarette smoke which filtered into our room and onto our belongings.Door key had to be activated almost daily. Beds are for short, short people. Our feet dangled off the edge each night.
Even the non-smoking rooms smell of smoke. Woke up congested daily, had two asthma attacks while there, had to keep air conditioner and an air filter running nonstop to help. Upon leaving each day our hair smelled of smoke. Once we arrived at our next hotel our clothing smelled the entire room of smoke. The room also had a moldy, musty smell to it. It appears that there was at one time some water damage-ceiling indicates this, so maybe this is what instigated that? Cigarette burns in and on furniture and bedding. Yes, in a non-smoking room.
The walls are thin. All night long there are people coming and going. Some are patrons/guests, others I am not so sure about--maybe visitors? Some nights are better than others. But I promise you will hear doors slamming all night unless you are a sound sleeper.
Breakfast sucks, but we expected that. No eggs. No meat. Mainly stale danishes, sour orange juice, and processed cereals. Pass on it and go elsewhere.
Phone calls in the middle of the night. We rec'd these from a "lady" that had the correct number but was looking for a previous occupant for what at 1 a.m. I can only imagine.
This is next to a truck stop. Some were just truckers looking for a place for the night, but others, well... Perhaps part of the night-long door slamming which we noticed went up and down the hallway. Some of the visitors even went from one room to the next. I don't care what they were up to, but I wanted to sleep.
We noticed several cars in the parking lot that had their windows smashed out. In place of their windows were garbage bags. Maybe this was by coincidence? Maybe none of them wanted to replace their wIndows? Who knows....If you have to stay here, park in front, and be sure to do so before 8 p.m. as it fills fast and if not: you will be in back. One night we did not even have a place to park as the front and back were full. As for the back of the building, let's just say what we saw was interesting (and we are from a big city). So while we never personally felt scared or threatened, the longer we were there and the more we saw the more it crossed the line of what we felt we wanted to pay for -or not.
And now BED BUGS.....Had we not paid for the week up front, we would have never stayed past the initial night. Had it just been one night, we would have had a completely different review. My wife barely slept the entire time. I heard complaining all week long. We actually had this booked for longer, and then left for a slightly more expensive but much better option elsewhere.
BEWARE. If you are here for one night, fine (check for bed bugs and just be street smart), but if you are looking for a longer stay skip it and pay $20-40 more a night to stay in surrounding areas. You'll be glad you did. It is worth the drive. If you are from a larger city you will see that this area is actually pretty safe, but that truck stop and the smoke filled hotel kills it. Add bed bugs and we won't be back...ever. It is too bad. The day staff tried really hard to make the stay great. And obviously they have tried to update the rooms. First and last time at an Econolodge. ICK! I guess you get what you pay for. For what we got this was overpriced....
Read moreI made my reservation by calling Choice directly. Made the reservation and was told that continental breakfast was included. On the website, they have pictures of their breakfast centre including pictures of the continental breakfast. When I checked in, I was told that they discontinued their continental breakfast six months prior. When I made my reservation, this was one of the top five reasons I stayed at this location. I was very disappointed The clerk at the front desk and inform me that he was the owner and The contacted the Choice centre and advise them of this but it was their fault why it wasn’t updated. I got to my room got myself ready for bed, and door slamming continued through the night. Come to find out the staff that is part of housekeeping lives there . The next morning I was getting myself ready and received a phone call at 10:30 advising me check out was for 11. When it became 11 am, they exactly on the dot. The housekeeper was knocking on my door telling me check out was 11 I said I am just about ready. I’ll be out in a couple minutes. It’s 11:13 am and housekeeping is knocking on my door yet again. I answer the door and housekeeping said I gave you a couple extra minutes. I’ll give you five minutes more and then you need to be gone. When I addressed her, she turned around and walked away. we had words she was very, very rude. I collected my things put them in my vehicle went back into the front desk. I asked him why is housekeeping knocking on my door and being rude. I asked him I needed to understand that Continental breakfast was included but yet when I need an extra 15 minutes it shouldn’t be a problem. He asked me if I could read because it doesn’t say continental breakfast. I said when I made the reservation I was told it does. He said show me proof and I’ll give you $100! So I called customer relations and had on speakerphone when representative explained what was included, which was the continental breakfast! The man at the front desk was able to hear Him say this and cut him off and stated that they had called six months ago and said they no longer offered this. The man at the front desk began to raise his voice and shout at me and the rep on the phone. I asked him to why he shouting? I explained to him I worked for a very prestigious hotel for 11 years and never ever have I ever treated in this manner. He wasn’t receiving my feedback and shouted for me never to come back again. I turned around and I walked away and he was still yelling at me, so I left. If you are in this area, find another place to stay. Stay far away from this location because you’ll leave...
Read moreI am a choice hotels diamond member , I am an REGULAR WEEKLY GUEST at this despicable hotel. unfortunately upon this stay I spotted a bed bug in room 327 . About a month ago, I had mentioned to the front desk I got bit on my back and had three bites in a row so it gave me the suspicion of a bedbug. I’m not sure why they would, but they gave me the same room again and I gave them the benefit of the doubt just assuming it might’ve been a mosquito but OH BOY WAS I WRONG. Upon checking the bed, I came across not one, not two but THREE bedbugs. I immediately made the front desk receptionist named Nishi aware of it and also recorded a video and picture just to show her the proof. Upon notifying her she didn’t want to give me a refund at all whatsoever, Nishi told me I had to WAIT till tomorrow to even talk to the manager who I requested but of course the manager wasn’t there. I stated I am NOT staying in a room where there is an infestation of bedbugs waiting to bite me. She stated she couldn’t do anything, so I requested that she at least call her manager. At first she did not want to so I demanded she called the manager . After talking to her manager (REENA), she came and relayed the message that the manager whom is very aware of who I am had the AUDACITY to say she will process the refund but I AM NOT WELCOMED ANYMORE. Me being a regular guest who ALWAYS leaves the rooms spotless even making the bed which is the house keepers job, never gave them a hard time, always was nice… for her to tell me I’m not welcomed anymore says a lot about HER AS A PERSON AS WELL AS HER AS A MANAGER. She obviously was ashamed of us finding these insects. I asked Nisha to ask the manager, Reena, why aren’t I welcomed anymore and guess what? REENA HAD NOT ONE REASON. After constantly requesting my refund, Nisha processed the refund, which I now have to wait 5-7 days to even get my money back. i wanted it in cash to accommodate the HUGE inconvenience for the night . I am extremely disappointed to say the least . THEY lost a regular customer and a lot of money . To all of those who were considering staying in this place I suggest you STAY AWAY! Its poorly ran with the management & has bedbugs. DO NOT COME HERE unless you want to bring...
