My husband and I went to this location because his brother has suggested it. I have to say though, for the price you pay it's rather disappointing in my opinion.
The prices for tickets were stupid high. It cost $25 for both my husband and I. Call me cheap or whatever but that's ridiculous. (I was willing to wait till the following day to get the bargain ticket at a competitor... My husband really wanted to see it that night and again, somebody has recommended it to us.
One of the selling factors was that the screen was larger... While it certainly is, it's inconsequential all things considered. It wasn't a terribly noticable difference from the other theater I go to, a theater which contains all of the same amenities as this one at a much lower rate.
Popcorn, a large tub was $9.95, a bag of it (the only other size!!) was $8.95... Then the small soda was $6.95. They already charge so much for actual tickets, to charge this much for popcorn and soda is disgusting.
The seats in the theater, while they do recline, they are in absolutely horrible condition. The backs of every single seat in the theater we were in (Screen 1) were peeling apart horribly. I say forward when it was time to leave and the back of my shirt was covered in tiny red flakes. It was absolutely disgusting. My husband and I both tried cleaning it off as best we could, but it was nasty... Again, for the prices they make you pay they need to fix the seats!! It's so gross!
Then in addition to all this, the women's bathroom had several stalls that weren't able to lock. I have zero intention of returning to this theater. Until things turn around, is not in the middle of Hartford, Waterbury or Bridgeport... It's in freaking Southington for crying out loud!! FIX THE THINGS THAT NEED TO BE FIXED OR LOWER THE PRICES!! YOU CAN'T HAVE IT...
Read moreI went to the theater to watch a Sunday afternoon showing. The theater was conveniently located and easy to spot from the road. Parking is mostly to the right side and towards the rear. If you drive a compact car there are many spaces up front but if you drive a normal sized vehicle you will not fit and need to proceed back. We had a few minutes' walk and the parking was not that visible on entering the plaza.
We had tickets from online but we still had to go through a line, which included a concession stand whether or not you wanted a snack. It wasn't that busy but if it were I could see the line may have taken a while as people were both showing tickets and buying their popcorn and soda, bagged candy etc. The attendants were friendly and helpful.
The theater itself was well-organized and had comfortable, spacious seats. There was a fair amount of space between each row. We also got tickets for a particular seat. Some were labeled and some seemed to have lost the numbers, another seat had mixed up labels showing two different seat numbers, but the system of numbering was easy enough to count out. The row was about 10 wide.
The film quality was acceptable. It seems it was something from the vault which we knew. However the quality was commensurate with the old technilogy, not a digitally remastered one. I have not seen other movies there so it may be particular to what I went to see.
Overall it was an entertaining experience and a nice way to spend time with loved ones. It was convenient and now that I understand the parking flow and ticket counter situation, I will be sure to arrive early again for a leisurely check in and...
Read moreThe physical theater itself isn't bad. The bathrooms and theaters were clean. The viewing chairs were extremely spacious and comfortable.
My biggest complaint was the service, which was awful. I came on a Tuesday night which offers $5 tickets for persons with a premier membership. When trying to buy a ticket with a credit card I was forced to use a kiosk immediately next to the register. After scanning my member card the kiosk failed to give the appropriate discount and I notified the employee who walked me to the kiosk and was standing at the register right next to me. The employee briefly looked at the screen, looked confused, then ignored me and walked away and began helping another customer at the register. I was forced to cut back into line where I went to another employee who finally just cashed me out at the register. Everyone seemed to be having the same problem with the first employee and he seemed absolutely clueless.
I then went to the concession stand where I was met by two more clueless employees. With the membership I am supposed to get free upgrades in size for my popcorn and drinks with free refills. The employee stated they did not know how to enter it in the computer and they were unaware of any such offer. At this point I just gave up because I wanted to go see the movie and I had already been delayed by 30 minutes dealing with the snail's pace service.
Lastly, during the movie, the video and audio cut out on multiple occasions. The movie had to be restarted multiple times and overall I ended up spending an extra half hour at the theater...
