We stayed at Stoweflake for 5 nights at the suite. Checking in was cold by a weird person who almost had written sign on her forehead: "What do you want here?" Checkin out was pretty similar: after spending few thousands dollars, no enthusiasm no grateful appreciation. However, in between even it was problematic situation with the key card, there was the warm and professional person to deal with it. Also, the Malaysian waiter was exceptionally friendly and professional. Overall the hotel needs serious renovation, or at least some face lifting. We didn't request any room cleaning, just I changed towels myself. The suite was spacious, comfortable, so we could overlook many other things...(like dirty dishes with remnant of food sitting for 2 days in the hall). The location is great, right on the crossroads of the recreation path, close to Moscow road to avoid village center heavy traffic. For sure we would return to the hotel, if we will be greeted warmly by a professional staff....

The Resort could be so nice if it were kept up. Our room was nice and I have to say very clean! The bed was comfy and the resort is charming. Yes, it was a bit outdated, but it wasn't as bad as what some reviews said. The resort is in a great spot! We did a lot in the area and enjoyed ourselves. We went into historic Stowe and enjoyed the town and the little mom-and-pop shops. We ate at a wonderful little place called the Skinny Pancake 🥞 and it was honestly the best breakfast ever. We enjoyed dinner at Whip which has an interesting history, delicious food, and a great atmosphere. While in Vermont we visited Ben and Jerry's ice cream and a wonderful Cider mill.

This place was a disappointment, did not feel like a vacation. Feels like a nursing home, I don't mind the old antique furniture, this place was by the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed at, and I travel ALOT. I have pictures to prove, it's a ok place to sleep but they need to remodel and stop the false advertisement. They also need to reduce their prices if they want to continue business like this. It's REALLY disgusting, musty smell, mold on shower head, mold on walls, wall paper falling off, water damage to ceiling. You have to enter through back door (Stairs), with no suitcases caddy. The back door to the stairs doesn't even lock, so anyone can enter.

visited Stoweflake with a friend this past weekend for a girls get away after a long summer. I used to be a frequent visitor of the spa up until 2.5 years ago when staying for my bachelorette party we had a terrible experience at the spa. I hadn’t returned after that due to the lack of compensation and apologies we had received from management. Looking into a girls getaway in the Stowe area I reluctantly visited the website. We discovered a package involving a stay and spa treatments with breakfast and tea time at a VERY affordable rate. We decided to give it another go since the deal was so good. In the reservation is says we would be contacted 14 days prior to our visit to schedule spa services. We where never contacted; so I reached out. Having to leave a message getting a call the next day. The women at the spa said she had no available services for the arrival day (Sunday) and had one massage for Monday nothing else expect saloon services such as mani/pedi. I stated that we bought this package over a month ago and it clearly reads spa services. My idea of a “spa service” is a massage, facial, body scrub etc. Not nails. I can got my nails done 15 mins down the road and receive shellac polish for $30 and have a great time. (the polish is already chipping a day later) I didn’t want to drive 2.5 hours to get my nails done. However, that was all that was available so I took the mani/pedi and gave the massage to my friend; since at this time it was to late to cancel. Upon arrival; the young man at the desk had no clue that we bought a package and what it included. But informed us if it said breakfast included that it would be a hot breakfast in the restaurant and that he would contact Lori the manager to inform her of the misinformation regarding the spa services and she would contact us in the morning while we where still there. The next morning we heard nothing from Lori and proceeded to breakfast where we where informed they changed plans and there was coffee, toast, muffins and cereal available and they could not accommodate a hot breakfast. We said thats not what was included in our package and the front desk said we would receive hot breakfast. We decided to leave the hotel and go into Stowe to get hot breakfast paying $60 for something we thought we already purchased. Still nothing from Lori we went to the front desk to check out before we went to the spa. Thinking Lori would say something once we told her who we where she looked at us like we had two heads. I proceed to inform her of the items included in the package and that we did not receive them and would appreciate some compensation back. She proceeded to inform us that she did not have time for us. She had 30 fire marshels about to check in and she was the only one at the desk so could not take the time to handle the situation. Proceeded to be rude and dismissive at one point took a phone call by holding up her pointer finger to me and answering the call rather then saying; “excuse me I need to take the call I will put them on hold.” She had no regard for the situation nor do I feel like she cared that we where dissatisfied. Not once did she apologize. She said she would look into my reservation and call me back on (9/14). I have yet to hear from her and unfortunately feel I won’t. We arrived at the spa. The ladies at the spa where incredibly kind and very embarrassed for the spa and they way we where dismissed by a manager. They offered me a hair service in addition to my nails which was very kind and WAY more then what the manager had offered. They also had no idea what this package was. We where also to get “tea time” which we also never received and at that point I felt so frustrated and exhausted by the situation I didn’t say anything to the poor saloon girls who where trying to do what they could to make up for the miscommunications that had already occurred. I have tried reaching out to the owner. Still no response...

I’ll start with this hotel isn’t cheap. I picked a 4 star on purpose as a gift for my husband for a getaway . The other 4 star hotels seemed just as pricy but didn’t offer the amenities as stoweflake did and that’s why I picked it.

Pros- spa is lovely. Staff is amazing. You we greeted with a smile and they answer any questions you have. The waterfall pool is by far my favorite. If you get a massage see Stephanie. I asked her to move to my state so she can become my regular therapist.

Cons to the spa was my treatment room was basically a storage room. Gross. I couldn’t open my eyes because of the giant water stain above me. Clearly it’s outdated and needs tlc. The bistro that’s advertised to get some lunch was never opened. Gift shop closed for 4 days. Seriously?

When I arrived At the hotel for check in we were 3 hours early. The crotchety women at the desk was rude and frazzled and told me to leave my bags in the car because “basically , I’ll just put your bags in a locked room soooooo”. Check in is at 3 I was free to roam the resort and use the faculties however MY check in time was 4:30 due to being understaffed and behind. “Sorry”.

Tea and cookies was great. That’s at 3 each day. I quite enjoyed that room. Peaceful and beautiful.

My room was nice. Old and outdated but it’s ok. Fireplace was a nice addition. Beautiful view and for the most part clean.

The toilet cover was dusty. The tub had hairs in it. Other than that the room was comfortable.

The hallways and common areas all need an upgrade but that didn’t bother us. Things become outdated over time. Clearly they are either headed to an upgrade or close the facility.

Big drawback was the outside pool was never opened. Advertised to be opened. Not once. Closed the entire time. It was not too cold. They are clearly understaffed.

The activity room looks like my parents basement in the 80s. Pool table old as me. But it passed the time waiting four hours to check in.

Asked the front desk for info on snowshoeing. She could have cared less to even wait on me. I hated that. I compared prices to other surrounding resorts that are 4 star and this hotel clearly maybe in the 80s was a 4 star but I would give this hotel maybe a 2.5 star. It has so much potential. Wish it delivered.

The restaurant and staff were kind and welcoming. Coffee each day was delicious.

Good food.

Another takeaway to this experience was after two days I finally went to the desk and asked for housekeeping and why haven’t they come to my room and she abruptly told me I need to give them 24 hours notice for housekeeping ? Hmmmm never was told this and I have Never heard of this. Ok please just bring me towels ! “How many please “. 4 please ? She looked at me , shook her head and said “ok”.

The location was incredible. I will stay here again. I think we will wait to see if improvements are made before we do so. I’ll keep looking at reviews to see if they do so.

It’s sad. ! It was family run and they had to sell. Clearly the new owners aren’t as...

Stayed in late December 2024.

STAY FAR AWAY!!! Is all I can say. Rooms are aged, dirty and the hotel itself is aged and needs a long overdue refresh. Carpet had stains, a/c didn’t work. Why would I need a/c in winter? Because the room got very hot and the ‘auto’ setting of the unit would not work, then put on a/c and that didn’t work either, didn’t blow any air, so we had to sleep with the window open to keep the room at a decent sleeping temperature, could then hear the cars go by, high humid in the room because it was raining, horrible nights, barely slept. Then, the shower spout broke right off when we turned the water on, the heat lamp didn’t work, the lamp above the shower didn’t work, the shower curtain was completely stained, there was hair in the drain and to top it all off, there was NO HOT WATER!!!

Apparently they were fully aware of the issue, aaas soon as I went to tell them he said oh yes one of the boilers is out and we are fully booked on the other side so unfortunately there is not much we can do…are you kidding me!?!? Why wouldn’t you tell me upon check-in.?!? It would have saved me a lot of grieve, I would have left as we need hot showers, but it would have saved a lot of grieve.

Spoke to Jason at the front desk who was extremely nice and understanding, he called us while we were out and said they got the hot water to 110 degrees, so went back to the hotel after a day in town and took a shower and had hot water. Wife took a hot shower later that evening and no hot water, we ignored it. Woke up for an early day to head to the mountain, went to take showers and no hot water again!

After all these issues we said that’s it, time to look for a different resort. We spoke k Jason who assured us we would be refunded the money and allowed us to leave early as we were scheduled to stay for several more days.

Fast forward to days later and we have not received any refunds. Called the hotel and was told they don’t issue refunds…after we were told we would be refunded and after all these big ticket issues you’re going to tell me no refunds, are you kidding me!?

Called today and spoke to Chris, the manager, who was singing the same tune about no refunds and that he would need to get with the general manager. Absolutely ridiculous, I was not going to bother with writing a review but after this experience I’m forced to.

I’m now also forced to call my credit card company to dispute charges since the hotel doesn’t want to accept responsibility for their own faults.

Speechless and absolutely ridiculous...
