I absolutely love this space and can't wait to come back. It's quaint perfect for me and my 14/18yr old girls. Internet is slow. While wifi is available, it was 9Mb/s which was a mixed blessing. I actually couldn't work so I had a couple days of peace.
If doing business, you'll want to bring a starlink or have your own ultra high speed hotspot because there is absolutely zero chance that you're going to get anything more than 8 to 9 MB per second, either via mobile hotspot or their wireless internet that is provided.
There is a pool and it's covered even during the winter, it's heated and they're happy to roll back the covers so that it stays warm. Actually there's a hot tub and a sauna.
It's walking distance if you wanted to go to the small little village to shop and get a quick bite to eat.
During the summer the facility is beautifully landscaped. We came during the beginning of winter and for snow so most of the water fountains and landscaping were prepping for winterization so I didn't get to see it and it's prime but cannot wait.
I thought it was pretty amazing that they even have croquet in other games for people to play... There was one guy playing croquet while there was a oncoming snowstorm. Just for fun.
Staff is super responsive. Absolutely respectful and really accommodating which I thought was one of the finite points that you look for for a proper resort.
And I don't have anything bad to say about this place. I would go again and again and again..
Thanks, Olympic village inn. You helped make Tahoe even more magical if that is even possible. made our stay even...
Read moreLocation, location, location. It may not be as close to cross-country ski area as Red Wolf Lodge is, or has as nice rooms as the latter. But 500m to cable car is a great feature - closer than from Red Wolf if you walk. They even operates a free shuttle every 5 to 15 minutes!
Rooms can be awkward at first. (Converted from hotel rooms) My unit in my first visit had bed room at door, with half kitchen, half living room inside. But can't complain about the views. On my later visits, the door opens to the half kitchen, half living room. The half kitchen, though tiny, is highly functional for casual meals. Bathroom is also tiny but highly functional. Room equipment is very well maintained except the noisy air conditioner on my first visit. (They couldn't really fix it at the time.) I have not had this problem in later visits. The building shows some age but generally well upkept. The only other problem I found was ants during my last visit. Maintenance came with some sprays but that did not solve the problem.
If you ski, the Inn Store just steps away from the cable car offers extremely competitive rental - ask for discount card or order online. You can check your ski at the office. Staff is very courteous and helpful. They also organize various activities for skiers and non-skiers. O can you see that I'm posting via free Wi-Fi? (That was several years ago. Now they charge a daily fee to cover the shuttle, ski check,...
Read moreIf your looking for excessive modern luxury or abundant amenities than this maybe isn’t necessarily gonna be the stop for you. HOWEVER; if your looking for natural ambiance, direct access to nature and a family friendly environment then this historic hotel nestled in the very back of Squaw Valley or “The Palisades” is a fantastic spot! My family has been coming here literally for generations and we have made many beautiful memories here :) The hotel is older but like I said it’s historic. The rooms are really nothing special; they are by all means very well equipped and accommodating but they are not reason why our family chooses to stay here; the reason is the physical beauty of the actual grounds and the environment that surrounds the Inn it’s self. With incredible access to the lake, river and mountains this hotel is our hub for outdoor adventure while in the area. Just the waterfall hike directly behind the Inn is worth the trip; acsess to the Shirley Canyon Hiking trail is directly behind the hotel, it’s absolutely stunning and features several beautiful waterfalls and pools. Having immediate acsess to the River Side Bike Path that goes into Tahoe City is also a HUGE WIN! So all in all GREAT PLACE TO SPEND TIME WITH FAMILY!
on a personal note on behalf of my entire family, we would like to thank the GM: Peter Andreadakis for helping us have the most terrific stay. Rooms 105, 111 and 112 were epic so thank you Peter you...
