Read moreMy toddler and I arrived really early. I definitely wasn't expecting to be able to check in right away. But I think waiting 6 hours is excessive. I worked for Marriott for 4 years and never have I ever had a guest wait nearly that long. We arrived around 9am as we had been traveling since 3am. I was informed housekeeping wouldn't get there till 11am which was fine since we could just grab some breakfast. Housekeeping arrived and I was told they only had 2 housekeepers, the supervisor and one other young lady. So, knowing the supervisor usually has to check the rooms, I thought we'd be given a room shortly since people had definitely checked out. Find a vacant room with my room type, have it cleaned and inspected then boom, we're good to go. That didn't happen. We sat for hours and then right before 3pm were told we should move closer to the front desk, as 2 other people were asking to check in early too. Huhn?! I didn't understand how we'd been there and it was known we were there since that morning, that we would then have to possibly wait again. Again, tired momma with an even more tired toddler who'd been traveling all morning. This definitely seemed wrong, but I think the agent was new, or so it seemed because the GM, (I'm assuming that's who she was) would help her out with things on the computer at the desk. I get times are different and many places are understaffed so giving grace is a must. But I feel like this location dropped the ball. Not even an acknowledgment or the crazy wait or having to wait again while the other person that had come in while we moved closer to the front, and her companion in another room who came in just after her, were both allowed to check in. I did call down later that evening for dinner recommendations, as we've never been to Dallas so don't know the area, and the young lady I spoke to was super nice but didn't have many suggestions. The location is nice and was great for traveling to where we wanted to go. The pool area was nice and clean. A ton of bugs in the pool but it's outdoors so bugs are to be expected. We ate at the Bistro to save on time and the food was good. The room was really nice, well appointed, quiet and the bed was fantastic. We did have a little sticky spot on the carpet near the desk. Wasn't an issue for us. We just avoided it. Check out was fine. Overall, it was just ok. We came across a couple other agents and it seemed like they may have been new too. So maybe that was...
Read moreBOMB THREAT and FIRE ANTS! WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER! My spouse and I attended a wedding in Dallas and we booked 3 nights in the hotel block. It was the ABSOLUTE WORST hotel experience we ever had! The morning after we checked in, the entire hotel was evacuated due to a BOMB THREAT. We were awakened by fire alarms and quickly exited the building. I thought we might be outside for 15-20 min, but the building was locked down for 4.5 hours and everyone was stuck outside - with no explanation of what was going on. The entire parking lot was roped off by police tape. When we were finally allowed back into the building, the fire alarms were still blaring at full blast, so we couldn’t even stay in the room. It was another couple hours until they turned the alarms off. To top that off, the front desk staff would not even disclose what happened but tried to reassure us we were safe. I spoke with the manager who was at the sister hotel next door and he did provide some information about the bomb threat. We tried to change hotels but there were no vacancies nearby that night, so we were stuck. Little did we know the worst was yet to come.
The next morning we woke up to a FIRE ANT INFESTATION in our room! My husband’s suitcase was full of hundreds of aggressive, biting ants! They were all over his clothes and crawling around on the floor! I spent the next two hours trying to get rid of as many ants as I could from our clothes in the bathroom. We were both bitten multiple times by the ants. The rude front desk staff (same from the previous day) was completely unsympathetic to our plight and offered us no help at all. We'd have to wait several hours until the manager was on duty. We had enough, so we decided to check out 1 day early and move to the next door sister hotel, the Fairfield Inn. The manager was slightly more helpful, but after all we'd been through, we only got a partial refund (I asked for a full refund) and changing to the next door hotel (also owned by Marriott and under the same manager) was not compensated. Not once did anyone apologize for anything that happened to us! Staying at the Courtyard was an EXTREMELY TERRIBLE experience the entire way through. If you run into any problems here, don't expect any help or understanding! AVOID...
