First off let me say that I am a huge fan on Saltgrass and usually enjoy the food and service. The Saltgrass in Plano on DNT has been our go to for years. Deciding to try the new location 5 mins from our house was not the best decision on mothers day.
As for the food and experience... our waitress received a 20 top 3 feet from us right after we we seated. She made sure to take our drink order and bring us bread prior to introducing herself to them which was a plus. Our drinks and bread came out quickly and she was there to take our order immediately after taking the 20 tops drink order. All was fantastic so far.
Here is where is begins to fall apart. After waiting for approximately 45 mins for our wedge salads I see a server bring out a tray of steaks and could instantly tell it was ours though our salads were no where in sight. As she went to sit the steaks down, 2 plates went tumbling to the ground right behind my son. It startled everyone but it was an accident and maybe a blessing in disguise..?
One of the managers went to sit down the one plate (my plate) in front of me that hadn't hit the floor. No "I'm so sorry! or "We will have the others out very quickly". I stopped her in her tracks and told her that we had not receive our wedge salads". Without any sympathy in her voice, she said "what were your salads so I can go find them for you guys?" She instantly came back with the salads which told me they were sitting there for a while. All dressings had been left off of the salads and there were no sides of dressing to accommodate the bland salads or offers of pepper as there always is at the DNT location.
Though our waitress was slammed with the 20 top at this point many other waiters and waitresses had came by to help out and most were sincere and truly were trying to help our server out. The server that dropped our food even came by and apologized for dropping the food and scaring us with the loud sound of breaking ceramic plates.
Overall, the experience was still pleasant but was dragging due to the lost food and missing waitress. It was then that our steaks came out... The new server didn't ask us to cut in to our steaks to make sure they were cooked properly. Just as quickly as they dropped the steaks off, they were gone again. We instantly realized that all 3 steaks were under cooked. Mine was to be medium and came out medium rare- rare. my Fiance's was Medium when it was supposed to be medium well and my sons was cooked medium when it also was to be cooked medium well.
5 minutes went by when another new face approached our table to apologize for the issue with the food and salad. We then had the ability to voice how our steaks were under cooked and that was quickly determined by the server to be true. Our steaks were taken back to the kitchen to be thrown back on the grill.
When they finally came back out they were cooked properly but we were about ready to go. It was then a new manager approached our table and apologized for all the mishaps of the evening. He apologized for the missing salads, the tray of crashed steaks, and the under cooked steaks. we appreciated the apology! Our check was brought, everything looked correct other than (2) chocolate milks at $3.50 a piece. Being that we are members and order the same exact thing each and every time I quickly noticed that I had never seen a charge for 3.50 for each milk.. I mentioned it the our waitress which miraculously appeared again and I showed her where it said kids meals include a drink and milk is $0.50 additional on the menu. Instead of grabbing a manager to confirm the charges were correct I received a lie to my face. I put my pride aside and paid for the additional price in a kids milk though I knew we had been charged 0.50 every other time we had went to the location in Plano off of DNT. Old receipts confirmed I was lied too. Enjoy the Circus. This location could have its own...
Read moreLove my Saltgrass and this location and staff keep the quality going whether it's takeout or dine in. This visit, I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with steak fries over the phone and the young lady who took the order was kind and very accommodating when I asked to substitute regular fries for the steak fries. (Next time, I'll take photos). From start to finish, when I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by the staff with a smile and even after I gave my name for phone order, and sat across the bar area to wait, only a few minutes had passed and I was asked again if I had been helped. I thought that was very attentive of the staff who wanted to be sure I was being taken care of. When i received my order, it was hot and the aroma from the bag was mouthwatering. All the condiments were in order and separated nicely, and the sandwich was AWESOME!! I mean, grilled bun, maplewood bacon ontop of a generous portion grilled chicken fillet, and delicious steak fries. When I arrived home, I put the condiments on the sandwich and enjoyed my grilled chicken sandwich lunch😋 they even included Shiner Boc Bread with whipped butter😋😋😋 I appreciated The kindness of the entire waitstaff, so I wanted to leave a tip. I later trusted a co-worker exiting the kitchen to give the tip to her. Anywho, hope she got it :) Also, if you visit Saltgrass, be sure to purchase a Landry Card; It'll cost $25 but they return it back to you on the Card and every year on your Birthday you get $25 added to your card to use on your birthday, you get points added to your card everytime you dine in or takeout at any Landry restaurant (if you don't use it, you lose it $25 I mean). Also and added bonus, call ahead make reservations, if place packed, you're moved to the front of the line because you're a Landry card holder. Many times in years past, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Easter, I would make reservations and sometime not and my name shows up by cell number and me and my family are treated like V.I.P 😊 It's pretty cool. I don't think that's changed at all. (I hope not) because that's a pretty nice perk. Anywho, if you dine at Saltgrass frequently, it pays to get a...
Read moreIf you have food allergies I would highly suggest you avoid this place and go enjoy somewhere that takes allergies seriously. I came in today with my family for my grandpa's birthday celebration. Our waiter was decent however im not even sure he knew we were there for a celebration. I ordered a sirloin, green beans and salad. I let the server know that I have a dairy allergy if he could please let the kitchen know and double check if anything had dairy in it so I wouldn't order it. He assured me that he put dairy allergy on the ticket and that he would write his own ticket detailing the allergy. I do believe he did this. However management failed to assure that I received a dairy free meal. When my steak came out I took a bite of the greenbeans and then noticed on the steak and running into the greenbeans what looked like melted butter. I asked the server to double check and only took the one bite to which I regret. The server took the plate but did not come back for awhile. When he finally came back I asked if it was dairy and he said yes. He said he put the allergy down but that the manager had stepped away and after that another staff member proceeded to put butter on it unknowingly. I would have been more understanding if the restaurant was busy however it was not. There was no wait, we were one of maybe 10 tables not a packed restaurant on a Sunday at 1:30/2 pm. I do not believe they took the allergy seriously or did their due diligence to make sure my dish was correct. It was highly important to me as I breastfeed my three month old who has the dairy allergy and breaks out in hives if I consume it. The manager did take off the meal and offered to remake it but the trust was already lost and I was not comfortable eating there. So I had to sit there while the rest of my family ate around me. As someone who works in the industry and takes allergies very seriously I am disappointed in the lack of effort to ensure I got the correct dish. So now I will wait and see if there is a reaction unfortunately that could have...
