So disappointed with the food and the appalling customer service we experienced here. There were six of us and more than half the food was unbelievably overcooked. We ordered two appetizers (crab cakes and boudain balls) and our meals. The appetizers didn't come out until half the meals were being delivered and I had to ask where they were. The waiter was continually MIA. My son and daughter-in-law ordered fried combos which they said were fine. My husband ordered an Oyster po-boy that was overcooked but he ate anyway because he was tired of waiting and is leary of retaliation if he sends something back. My nephew ordered Lobster Liguine and got rubber lobster. His wife ordered crab claws that were so overcooked they were almost burned. I ordered the Bering Sea which included crab, shrimp, sausage, corn and potato. I ordered extra potatoes and 3 boiled eggs. The shrimp were a nice size but so rubbery it was disgusting- I ate one. I ate one crab let that was so overcooked I could barely get it to release from the shell. My husband took one bite of a potato and I did - we both put them down and just looked at each other in astonishment....overcooked. I never touched the corn or sausage. My son ate one egg and almost choked. I cut into one and the yellow was chalky....yuck. After expressing our complaints to the waiter he took off my nephew and nieces plates from the ticket. I complained again - my entire plate but a few bites was there! I was told the person we were initially talking to a manager - he confessed he was the head waiter trying to handle things. I also told him I wasn't paying 20% gratuity for crappie service! He ultimately offered 30% off my plate and removed the gratuity. Absolutely unacceptable. He said my plate was partially eaten (literally only enough to taste some items) so he said they typically offer 20% off in those circumstances but was going to "give" me 30%!! Horrible.....Horrible.. .Horrible Worst experience in a restaurant ever and worst customer service as well! Let me also add they had two very small children in the kitchen with the cook (visible when going to the bathroom) that were maybe between the ages of 3 and 5! They were in the kitchen, on either side of the cook, standing over the stove ! I would not recommend this place...
Read moreWent tonight with a friend for dinner. Had seen one of my neighbors leftovers that she brought home from eating here and was really surprised by the succulent claw and pasta that she had left over from her dinner. So I recommended to a friend that we should try it for our monthly dinner. Was really not pleased by the dinner that we were presented. I ordered etouffee and it was a creamy tomato sauce with no spice at all...I mean zero...kind of like a tomato soup kind of taste and texture to it...lots of seafood in it but etouffee should have a dark brown Roux/spicy sauce that is achieved by browning your flour in butter to achieve the color then using that dark roux paste to make your spicy sauce...not a creamy tomato soup kind of sauce better suited to an Italian pasta dish. Where the big problem came was my friend ordered Lobster and shrimp (I believe it was shrimp) garlic pasta and his lobster claws(2) were so over cooked and dried out that they were crumbly and tough. Visually you could see how crumbly and shriveled they (2) were. They cooked the pasta then pan fried/sauted it in garlic making the pasta kinda crispy (more an Asian technique) which was quite good except with it they appeared to pan fry the seafood also which destroyed it. Neither one of these meals were cheap mine was 21, I believe and his was 27...for that kind of money I really expect quality. I hate when I recommend a place for our monthly dinner and it's an epic fail. So Asian/Cajun fusion was a fail. Server was VERY nice though. Just that for the money they need to step it up. I can go to 99 asian market in Carrollton or Frisco just as easily as they can and buy fabulously fresh seafood so dinner better be good! I could forgive the etouffee not being what was expected...and chalk it up to just not being authentic Cajun and not being what I wanted/expected and personal taste and all. However, at its core if you're going to be a seafood restaurant you have to know how to cook seafood and so the pasta is where I have to draw the line. To call it cajun you have to do more than sprinkle cajun spice powder on the food. Back to rockfish...or even better Nate's in Addison for some real...
Read moreI visited The Colony location with my family and the food was very good and varied. We started off with a dozen fresh (raw) oysters...amazing! We followed it with a Station Platter. They have a varied drink menu. We like martinis, so we ordered the Cucumber and "Mangolada" Martinis; I felt that they were on-par with other high end bars I've visted. There is a dish that my kids ordered called the Station Pan Roast. It is more like a gumbo but orangy-red in color. It is eaten with a big ball of rice. If you share this (I recommend it), order an additional rice ball bowl. It was also delicious. So now the not so great: Service is okay. The wait-staff are all Asian, and they seemed to be more interested in the business of efficiency than the interaction with their guests. I am Asian, so please know that this is not meant as an insult, it's just how the predominance of Asians are. As an example, our waiter noticed that there were two large groups of people waiting to be seated. Therefore he and others stopped what they were doing to prepare tables together for these groups. This is normal except they forgot their guests. Our drinks were left on the bar for 10 minutes; the bartender didn't even bring them to our table or ask who ordered them...qnd he wasn't busy. Another issue was when my son ordered the Scampi Crab Claws ($14.95) appetizer. When the order arrived, he let the waiter know that during his last visit, the portion was much larger (this portion only filled half a small bowl). His response was basically this is how it's served; take it or leave it. He made no offer to provide a refund, a larger portion, or order something else. This is typical in Asian restaurants I've visited in Asia, Hawaii, and California. Despite these issues, we WILL go back because the food was really good. We will be sure to not expect much interaction...
