I have stayed at the Courtyard in Tigard, OR about 4 times now and by far this was the worst experience we have had. The upkeep of the hotel has let go, front desk customer service is terrible and the pool is in extreme disrepair. I don't know if we will be returning to this hotel in the future.
Our first experience was with the front desk person who helped us. She was very short with us and didn't offer a greeting to use as we approached the desk. When we encountered an issue with my debit card instead of offering a solution she abruptly handed the card back to me with a curt "It's not working" and "maybe you don't have the funds available" which was very out of line. We ended up using my husband's card and resolved that issue. When I asked about the breakfast package that came with the room she was not aware of it and just stated "come down in the morning and we will see about it" At that point, I was too tired from our trip to even bother with it. The next morning I had questions regarding my bill since the night before she repeatedly tried to use my card stating it wasn't working there were 6 transactions from the hotel for different amounts that were withdrawn and credited back repeatedly. When I asked for clarification on this and the actual total of the hotel stay and she could not give me a total for our stay and just stated "you will get the bill" and "Wells Fargo sometimes does that" which again was not a clear answer to my questions. I did not catch her name unfortunately because she was not wearing a name tag on either of the two days we stayed there.
As I stated before we have stayed here several times and we were very disappointed this time with the housekeeping of our room. There were several large stains on the carpet and stains on the bathroom wall and even the ceiling of the room. The shower had moldy, cracking caulking and the soap holder looked like it was about to fall off the wall. It was not up to the standard we had come to expect from this hotel.
When we finally were able to use the pool we discovered that the hot tub jets did not work and the tiles in the hot tub were covered in brown mold. There appeared to be floating shredded paper/candy wrapper in the hot tub as well so we did not end up using it which was very disappointing since we were looking forward to it after a long day of walking around downtown Portland. The pool was icy cold and the water was murky and looked like it had not been...
Read moreMy two night stay at this hotel was my first traveling outside of Texas in 16 months. For the past 30 years I've always been able to do some international travel. However, due to the pandemic, my traveling has been clearly much more limited. So, this business trip was a big deal for me! I arrived early, prior to normal check in time and fortunately my room was ready. The room certainly met my expectations, although a little bit dated, but nothing unusual. it was clean and tidy. When I checked in, I was told the restaurant was not open due to Covid. The desk clerk advised me of the nearby Starbucks and a couple of restaurants should I want to get breakfast. The bed was very comfortable and everything was in working order. She kindly asked me what floor I would like to be on and I requested a lower floor. It was already an exhausting day with two flights to get to Portland and I still need to visit an office. She was able to give me a room on the first floor. That was very convenient. The ice machine was nearby. The gym was by appointment only and the pool (which I would not have used) was closed. The only possible negative item was there was no housekeeping for the two night stay. Not a big deal, but it was a little bit of a surprise. Again, I haven't traveled during all of this pandemic time and was unsure of expectations. I fully understand and am empathetic--Hotels and the entire travel industry is struggling to survive and doing things like closing the restaurant, pool and minimizing housekeeping was all done to conserve capital. It just seems it would've been appropriate for the person at the front desk to mention the limitations on the housekeeping. As I was checking out, I made the inquiry about housekeeping and was told it is typically done every three days unless a specific quest is made. That...
Read moreOnce again the hotel did not disappoint. This hotel is like a home away from home that I come to a couple times a year. My son goes to college near by and I am always so happy and satisfied staying at this Courtyard in Tigard while visiting him. These are the things I love about it. Love the location, so easy and although close to the freeway beautiful trees in between window and fwy and I don't hear freeway noise. Very quiet undisturbed sleep. I used to stay downtown which was very impractical, expensive, noisy and difficult to get to and from your car. We go downtown for dinners and other events but I like coming back to Tigard to sleep, very close by. The hotel and rooms are always clean and aesthetically pleasing and don't have weird smells. The beds are comfortable which is really important and the walls are not thin like other hotels so although you can occasisioanlly hear someone above you for the most part there is a lot of privacy and quiet. I like that there are easy to use washers and dryers that have come in handy on many occasions. I like that there is a Starbucks nearby. In all my stays here the staff has been pleasant and helpful 100% of the time. The only recommendation I would have for improvement would be for the food area to be open all day (at least for food like yogurts and fruit cups and espresso coffee drinks and perhaps other non grilled items, not just candy and chips at the little store off the front desk). Overall Great job,...
