Worst Experience Ever - They will steal from you!!!!
I went to this restaurant with my family, thinking we could save some money with the lunch menu, but I got scammed! I ordered three dishes: a chorizo burrito from the lunch menu for myself, carne asada for my wife (which I knew was more expensive, and I was okay with that), and just fries and a piece of fried chicken for my young daughter. This wasn’t part of the menu, and we repeatedly clarified that we didn’t want a full meal for her since she doesn’t eat much. They assured us they could accommodate our request.
When her plate arrived, it was a full meal with rice, beans, and more. We were shocked and immediately informed them that this wasn’t what we ordered. They took the rest back, and we reiterated that we only wanted the chicken and fries. They assured us again that we would only be charged for the chicken and fries.
As expected, my daughter only took two bites of the chicken and ate some fries. When the bill came, I was shocked to see a total of $99 for three dishes. I asked to review the bill because I only got the screen to pay directly without a detailed description. To my dismay, they had charged us $45 for my daughter’s plate—$10 for fries and an outrageous $35 for the chicken.
I was upset because we asked three times how much her dish would be, and they promised to accommodate us. Another person then came and said this was the bill and that the piece of chicken came with everything, so they couldn’t charge any less. The two servers who initially interacted with us disappeared and never showed their faces again.
Besides the ridiculous charges, the carne asada was a horrible piece of meat, and the chicken was burned. We came for a happy family meal and ended up with the worst dining experience of our lives. RUN AWAY FROM THIS SCAM. I wish I would have gone to...
Read moreMonday night at around 7:00 PM. The restaurant closes at 9:30. We were the only customers in the restaurant and one of the staff started to mop the floor with a heavy concentration of pine-sol. The smell was overpowering so we asked to move up front away from the smell....no problem. However the staff person who was mopping came and told us we would have to move to another area because he needed to mop the floor. We told him that was why we moved earlier. He did not care. I told him we could not eat with the heavy pine sol smell and if he insisted we would have to leave. He said he needed to mop the floor and we could leave. I reiterated again that if he had to mop the floor we would leave, and he said fine, leave. Hard to believe that they would kick out their only customers so they could mop the floor two hours before closing....with literally no apology. So we left and went to Choza in Bridgeport Village and had a great meal, where everyone was smiling and very helpful and the food was awesome. I will never give El Sol de Mexico my business and I will make a point to tell friends and family about my experience. I hope the owners realize they have staff turning customers away, creating bad publicity and losing business all so they can.....what, leave early on an Monday. Very bad form El...
Read moreI know! I know!! Was it clean? Well, yes. It was brilliant. Nothing sticky on the floor. Windows and tables are very clean. Nice! So, thinking I wanted a Carnitas Burrito, I was informed that they don't do Carnitas, but they have a close second. Alas! It wasn't. Meats are to be seasoned (Asada) via marinade, so flavours blend and roll subtly and well balanced so that the tounge enjoys the experience as well as the mouth and stomach. This was not that experience. The meat was clean! I mean, like it had been added to the centre of the burrito, and then some seasoned things tossed in, and the tortilla then rolled, and cheese melted atop of it. It was not a great eating experience. Add to that the more than six or seven times I got a hard piece of rice! Old? Reheated? Not cooked? Who knows? I know it was hard and only added to my disappointment. Seriously! One grain in one hundred? Sure! But this was not cool! The beans were good. Smooth, creamy, and nicely seasoned without too much salt like some other restaurants are wonton to do. It was the #17 in the event enquiring minds...
