The Oregon State Bar is extremely competent. They are very professional, particularly during the complaint process. Considering the nature of the Oregon Revised Statutes and the OSB's conflicting roles as quasi official state agency and trade association they are impressive. Public Defenders are of course employes of the state and are legally required to put the welfare of the people ahead of their clients, their role has been shrunk almost to the point of legal secretary. They are as competent or more as any attorney, it's not their fault the state will no longer guarantee the poor the right to an attorney. If you can afford your own attorney it may be the best investment you ever make. If you pay attention to the intitial consultation you can get very good advice. It is possible the attorneys seeking recommendations from the OSB are not quite as established ones you can find yourself. I believe they all offer a low cost consultation, so why not ask one you have confidence in. Never be intimidated or hesitant to ask an attorney a question. Giving you as much information as possible is a big part of their job. Your time with them is very short and and you don't get much warning about your opportunities. Read moreOSB is not helpful and is very corrupted. I wrote a complaint on a lawyer who is a DA in Marion County and I have not recieved a response for a dirty lawyer Douglas Christopher Hanson and the OSB placed my complaint right along with my husband which is wrong because its two different complaints.
Douglas Christopher Hanson hasnt wrote a response regarding my complaint within a certain amount of time. The OSB is covering the wrongful prosecution that Douglas Christopher Hanson has done by violating constitutional rights such as preliminary hearing was taken, the DA manipulated e-court and also made me into a victim and witness when I wasnt just so the DA can take away my marital privilege so he forced me into being a victim and witness.
If I was a victim than why didnt I have rights as this suppose "victim/witness"?? I had no victim advocate and every rights that I had was violated so why didnt the OSB investigate the corruption of this lawyer as a DA?
The OSB is not...
Read moreVery disappointed in how the person handled my questions. I was trying to understand how their process works to help my family and was treated as if I should know how it works. The staff member was Incredibly condescending- made me feel like was a burden or wasting their time when I was just tying to understand how their process works. Also, my family is Spanish speaking and they don’t feel comfortable making these calls— Oregon law center: Do Better, please. Perhaps train your staff on how handle calls- especially as folks are only trying to navigate very complicated systems and are going through difficult times. You are supposed to be a resource. I’m so disappointed and saddened. Please work on your racial equity trainings, please. I will be following- there must be someone I can share my full experience with. I worry others will be experiencing...
