This hotel is in a great location, central to most tourist destinations and close to several restaurants. Both the welcome desk staff and the breakfast staff were all very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast selection was very good. The rooms were very spacious. Which is why it is such a shame that we had such a terrible stay at this hotel.
First, the room. The beds were absolutely terrible. The mattress felt like sleeping on a rock and the pillows were so thin that your head went right through them. Even stacking two pillows had no effect. The rooms thermostat had a cooling fan that could not be shut off and the vent was near the beds so no matter what you did with the temperature you still felt chilly at night and the blanket was not warm. The dishwasher was very loud and ran for a long time.
The cleaning staff was not good. The night that we checked in the recycling bin still had trash in it. The next day we had to go to the front desk to get dish cleaner because the staff forgot to refill it. From the third night till our fifth night (checkout) they did not make our daughters bed and on our last night they did not make either bed. In addition on our last night they also did not take out our kitchen trash and instead of properly refilling our toilet paper and paper towel they set them on the counter still wrapped.
On the last day of our stay despite checkout being at 11am we received a knock on our door from the cleaning staff at 9am asking if we were leaving yet. We got another knock at around 9:45am and again at 10am, after which the maid proceeded to stand outside our door until we left at about 10:15am.
Lastly, the hotel was under renovation during our stay which we were not made aware of when we booked the hotel. Despite this it was very quiet. However, since we were there for a week we intended on doing our laundry before we left. On our third day the laundry room and fitness center were tore out and the welcome desk staff apologized to us, informing us that they were not notified that renovation in that room would be taking place. As a result we had to take our dirty laundry home.
I would not recommend this hotel and we certainly will not be...
Read moreLove, love, love this hotel. Whenever we are in the Buffalo area my wife & I have stayed here ever since they opened a few years ago. No other hotel in WNY can compare with the friendliness, comfort, convenience, professionalism and benefits of staying here at Home2 Suites. For us, having a well appointed hotel room with a separate bedroom whenever we travel is what we seek, and this hotel has never been a disappointment. We have lots of family members who very graciously offer their hospitality to us, but a vacation just doesn't feel right if we don't have our own quiet and comfortable nest in which to relax at the end of the day. Every single employee with whom we have ever had contact over the years has been very friendly, articulate, knowledgeable, and they truly give us travelers the feeling that they appreciate our business and they are thankful that we chose to stay at this Home2 Suites. The location of this hotel is also fantastic. In just a couple of minutes we're on the free portion of the Thruway and we can head west to Canada, north to Lockport & Lake Ontario, east toward God's Country (the finger lakes region), or south to the Amish region. Regardless of which direction you choose, western New York is absolutely beautiful, and there are tons of indoor & outdoor activities to pique your interest all throughout the year. During the last month long vacation from our home in SoCal to Buffalo we decided to look seriously for another home. Unfortunately, due to extremely high state taxes in New York, we ended up purchasing a home in PA. Howsumbutever, we will still continue to vacation in the Buffalo area, and when we do we will certainly be taking up temporary residence at the Home2 Suites. We recently spent a couple of weeks in York, PA and guess where we stayed? Yes, the Home2 Suites that's only a few miles away from the home...
Read moreBOOOO! We wanted to stay here, but refused because their pet fee is $75. We have stayed at Home2 Hiltons on our cross-country vacation and EVERY OTHER Home2 Hilton we stayed at was $50/pet (sometimes they are extra nice and charge $50 for both our two small Boston Terriers).
I read several on-line articles confirming that "...by 2022, Hilton will have nearly 1,000 extended stay properties in its portfolio with the Homewood Suites brand joining sibling Home2 Suites in becoming 100% pet-friendly. This means the hotels will allow pets in guest rooms as well as many public areas. In addition, by 2022 both brands will harmonize their pet fees to $50 per stay across the entire North American portfolio."
I am happy to patronize businesses which are pet-friendly, and I wanted to stay in all Hilton properties because they were standardizing their pet fees, which is something I appreciate. Hotel pet fees in general are a quick grab at cash for very little in return. Most hotels don't offer small fenced areas for walking, poop bags, or ay other amenities. The "fees" they collect are supposed to be used for "deep cleaning" after a pet has stayed in a room. Hotels barely have staff to get rooms turned over and cleaned to regular or even COVID standards, let alone spending two minutes cleaning up the three hairs my Boston Terrier left on the floor. So--my point is that I'm appreciative of the effort Hilton put out to make pet fees more uniform and attract pet owners. This is a step in the right direction to appeal to those of us with fur-children. But by the same token, I won't just shrug off a property who isn't in line with the rest of the brand. We instead spent our money at the Home2 Suites by Hilton Williamsville...
