When we first checked in -we were told that we were upgraded which really made my day. However, it didnt seem as if we were. Every day and every night (worse at night)- there was a horrible and intense smell of marijuana. I couldnt sleep at night thinking that I would wake up high. I do not tolerate smoke or intense smells. (It was a non smoking floor)
I tried to use the mini fridge to put some pizza and water bottles. it was OFF with a whole bag of fries frozen into the freezer and I couldnt remove it because it was stuck. Therefore i had no access to the freezer and had to stare at someone else's food every day. I didn't have time to complain and i didnt have the patience either because it was a business trip and I was super busy.
I went to Microcenter, a computer parts store to purchase an ethernet cable to hook up my laptop due to poor signal - and the laptop internet cable PORT did not work. I never had time to return the cable so I was stuck with a cable i did not need.
In between the two beds there are two hanging lamps that are so old that they hang really low. They had to be adjusted every time. My son went to do that and burned his hand. It was boiling hot because its made of metal. Its a good thing we aren't the kind of people to sue for every little thing- but we were very upset. I'm hoping this review will get some of these issues corrected, because I am surprised this was even a Hilton. It's not what I thought a Hilton standard is. Maybe it has gone down.
Every person in our group was told we would be charged a $700-900 deposit on our own credit cards, even though these rooms were reserved for a company party and were made using a company credit card. They seemed to have no record of it. So we had to deal with and rectify this situation as well.
The hot breakfast is not free which is fine, but the cold breakfast was $10.00 per person. Really? at the Hilton? I opted out of it and chose to have some coffee. There was no milk but there was creamer. I dumped my coffee out because it was not good. If you check my reviews, I always give great ones- however, this is a Hilton and not what one expects at a Hilton. I overheard other guest complaining to me as well when we were getting coffee.
The entire stay-we never required any housekeeping because we cleaned our own room daily since i had a late sleeper in the room every day, yet when i asked the housekeeper in the hallway if I can get a few towels, and she was not very nice. She had an attitude as she replied, "I don't have much!" and she gave me one of each thing. (even though I had 3 people). No smile or kindness in her voice. I can understand that-but if she cleaned my room -she would have had to provide enough towels and would have had more work to do.
TO END MY REVIEW, THE STAFF DOWNSTAIRS AT THE FRONT DESK WERE ALWAYS VERY FRIENDLY AND SMILEY. THEY OFFERED US 3 BOTTLES OF WATER AT CHECK-IN. AND THE HOTEL IS CLOSE TO A LOT OF SHOPPING, ACROSS THE STREET FROM CHICK-FIL-A , MCDONALDS, AND THE...
Read moreThis hotel is in a very central location! Close to dining and shops, as well as the Long Island Rail Road station. Rooms are quite spacious and bedding is comfortable.||For dining, the hotel has a full service restaurant and bar. Alternatively, there is a Benihana, Chick-Fil-A, McDonald's, a taco restaurant and a bar within walking distance. Still within walking distance is Dunkin Donuts although I preferred driving. Less than a 10 minutes drive away are more restaurants like Cheesecake Factory, Chick N Tenders, Cava, Paris Baguette, Starbucks, etc.||For shopping, there is Target, Wal-Mart, Costco, Best Buy, Off Sak's, Nordstrom Rack, Bloomingdale's, DSW, etc. all within a 10 minute drive or less. And for a few more minutes of distance, there is a mall with more dining and shops. For those wanting some Asian groceries, there's a 99-Ranch Market less than 5 minutes away by car. It is walkable too if you choose.||For recreation, the Eisenhower Golf Course and driving range is about 5 minutes away. There is also a large aquatic center also about 5 minutes away. ||Hofstra University is less than 15 minutes away.||Driving an EV vehicle? There are no ev chargers on the hotel's premises although the hotel does seem to have ample parking with about 3 spots dedicated to Diamond Members. Within 10 minutes, there are 2 locations with Electrify America chargers.||Heading into the city? You can catch the LIRR from Westbury station, about a 10-15 minute walk (note: the path to the station passes a cemetery and street lighting is minimal during the nights). Or you can hail an Uber or park your car at the LIRR parking structure near the train station. Another alternate station is Mineola where the parking structure is right next to the platform (minimal walking from parking structure to platform) but it is a 10-minute drive from the hotel.||This is a 4-storey hotel. The lobby area is comfortable and spacious, with high ceiling. Plenty of seating around to get some work done if you choose. During our one-week stay, one of the 2 elevators remained out of service. ||Rooms were quite spacious with a microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator. The housekeeping crew did a good job with keeping the room clean. Bedding was comfortable. Housekeeping is completed every other day although if you preferred a daily service, you can let them know ahead of time.||The hotel also has an indoor pool and spa though the pool is good for dipping, not so much for actual swimming. There is a business center and laundry facilities with 2 washers and 2 dryers. During our stay, only one dryer was operational. Normal loads cost $1.50. Heavier loads are $1.75. The dryer costs $1 per load. Run time is approximately 40 minutes for each.||One thing we would have liked is for the hotel to put out coffee, tea and iced water for guests to have all day. This would've been great on the days I was working...
Read moreI stayed here a few weeks ago for a family member's wedding. The hotel itself was very nice, breakfast was great, most of the staff were very polite and friendly, but the restaurant manager was rude and off-putting. At the 1am after-party in the hotel restaurant, I saw him serve another hotel guest a cup of tea at the bar, so I asked for a tea as well; the manager suddenly got extremely upset with me. "Why didn't you tell me when I was already going back there? I was already back there to make one, why didn't you tell me you wanted one too?" Startled, I said, "I'm sorry--I didn't know until I saw you come back out with the cup of tea. I can order something else, if it's a problem." He kept talking angrily over me: "I don't mind doing it, but why didn't you tell me when I was already making the first one? I don't mind, but I was already back there..." He kept saying that over and over--literally just repeating himself as he backed away into the kitchen. I would have completely understood if he had said that tea wasn't available at that hour, but instead he just got angry at me for even asking. It was very disconcerting. The next morning during the hotel brunch, he was similarly being passive-aggressive and confrontational with the wedding guests--telling a large group of us at a round table that we didn't HAVE to get up from our table if we were done eating, but that "this table was supposed to be open for people who are eating breakfast." But when we offered to move to a different table, he suddenly said "you don't HAVE to, you don't have to get up," so we sat back down; then he'd start up again: "It's just that this table is for breakfast"...Around and around we went, trying to figure out what he wanted us to do. When we were all leaving to check out, he asked us all where our breakfast vouchers were; we had been directed by the other staff to leave them on the table when we were done eating. He told us we weren't supposed to do that, demanded to know who had told us that, we were SUPPOSED to do something else with them, etc...In summary, I'm sorry to single out one person like this, but that manager should be aware that this kind of passive-aggressive behavior is disconcerting and uncomfortable to deal with. If he is frustrated that the hotel's policies aren't clear on some matters (i.e. ordering tea after midnight, breakfast vouchers, seating in the restaurant), then he should really be taking this up with hotel management--not by rudely confronting the guests and being frustratingly unclear with what the...
