Canz Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

I went before an Islanders game on a Wednesday afternoon so maybe an unconventional time but the atmosphere was very lively and while the front outdoor space was not open it looked like a real good time under a tent, with the front door of the pub opening up like a firehouse garage. The door man showed up at 5 indicating that this place gets busy.

The entire staff at Canz is very pretty, in case you look for that sort of thing, but I was happy to see that they all work together. I was able to get drinks, food and my check very quickly because I was helped by three different team members.

The food is pub fare, with no particular theme. To be honest, unless you're looking for a burger or wings then there isn't much else besides the app menu that every pub has. I had a BLT and I would not recommend it because it was so plain. The bacon and bread were too toasted and crumbled up on me so the sandwich wouldn't stay together. Also the mayo was on the side so I had to pretty much make the sandwich myself, but the fries came out piping hot, which I love.

The reason why my sandwich didn't knock the rating down to three stars is because the food came out good and hot, the drinks were cold and fresh, and judging by the other food I think burgers and wings are the way to go here.

Although Canz can be more creative with their menu, the food isn't the primary reason to come here. They have many large TVs and a good space to watch events. They even have four large screen TVs that combine to make one, which looks amazing for fights. Football has to be a good time here. I would recommend...

If I can give this place zero stars and thinking about calling the news station, which I will to report the discrimination I faced coming here. As I was sitting at the bar around all white people not 1 bar tender came to me to take my order. All the girls stood by the kitchen talking among the selves glanced at me, laughed and blatantly ignored me. After sitting there for a while I realized this was intentional. One girl came over to the white man sitting next to me asked him if he wanted another drink. I tried to call her over and she gave me a dirty look and said “WAIT” after waiting for sometime I got up and asked to speak with the owner who I was told his name is Paul. One lady popped out who was among the group of girls she was the owner wife at least that what she said. I told her I’m leaving a bad review because of the way I was treated, she didn’t seam to care. I asked her iif it’s because I’m black why I was treated this way. She just looked at me and didn’t even seam to care. I will never come back to this establishment. This must be a all white establishment or that’s the way they would like it to be. All my black people listen to me don’t come back to this place. If this is how they want to treat us we should not spend our money here. I guess now that Trump is president people show who they really are. If there restaurant was full house then I could understand or they can play it off but these people weren’t trying to hide it at all....

Football ( soccer, Liverpool ⚽️) , baseball ( Mets) Basketball as well , Grid Iron ( American football, Jets) . When I come out here to Westbury where me “Cutie 🐻 Bear” lives, the 1st place we head to is CANZ. Thee manager “Mr. Jonny Katz “ is a gem . Ever soo friendly ,very attentive, and he makes sure this place is always welcoming . He’s very good, and always on top of things, even when this place is crazy mad busy. All the barkeeps are very efficient , know their drinks, and always let you know the “ Happy Hour Specials” . Salma and Elyse go out of their way to make sure you’re served the way you wish to . Drinks are worth the $$ even when there is NO happy hour. The food is wonderful . The regulars are wonderful . The “ loo” ( bathroom) ever soo clean . The temperature inside is not freezing , so tiss quite comfy to relax and eat in . There is a car park , with plenty of room for your RollsRoyce or pick up truck , or a wee bus even . Very safe .
