What a delightful treat it was to visit Layali Coffee House on a late Saturday morning! The place was packed with eager customers of all kinds: students, families, groups of friends, couples, and solo adventurers. Happily my companion scored a table for two, which was not an easy feat, while I ordered us a pistachio croissant, a tiramisu milk cake and two Adeni teas. It was quite pleasant to have our gracious server attend to our table, bringing our order swiftly on a wooden tray. We each took a half of each pastry and both were fresh, delicately flavored, and appeared to have been made that very morning. The tea, unfamiliarly spiced, was delicious and very hot. Normally I put an unreasonable amount of milk and sugar in my tea, but this needed none whatsoever because of its unique flavor. For such a busy place everything was immaculately tidy and the decor was bright and elegant. The seating varies, from upholstered benches lining the wall opposite tables and chairs, tables and chairs in sets of two where patrons can adjust for the size of their group, and small living room style arrangements in low chairs and tables for more of a relaxed and cozy experience. One of the unique details I noticed about the upholstered bench seating was that it contained moveable bolsters. This subtle physical boundary, clearly defining private space within a shared environment, fostered a feeling of safety and is much appreciated. The single occupancy restrooms were beautifully appointed in floor to ceiling marble with high quality fixtures including a bidet attachment! I was pleased to see both a reservation only conference room and a room for prayer/reflection open to all. We are looking forward to our next trip and we will surely be bringing others with us as well. I am eager to try the Aseer-Leem or the Dragonfruit refresher. From what I could see, they looked dense with fruit and appeared to be extremely healthy. Shop small and enjoy this one-of-a-kind experience in wonderfully unique...
Read moreOverall what I ordered from Layali was very good! But it didn't hit all the marks I had hoped for.
I got a small honey maple hot latte as my drink. This was probably one of the best lattes I've ever had, but I was disappointed that I could not taste any honey or maple. It was just a sweet latte, I'm disappointed it wasn't flavored like I had assumed. I do appreciate it was not overly sweet, sweet enough to feel like a treat but not too much to feel like I'm drinking sugar.
For a treat, they have these cute desserts shaped like fruits. I got the pumpkin shaped one, which is made of white chocolate for the shell, and filled with a whipped vanilla cream and pumpkin pie filling. The stem is definitely something, but I have no idea what it is, I've never tasted anything like it before. Overall, this dessert was just ok, I'm a bit biased since I'm not a fan of white chocolate (should've thought twice before ordering, my bad lol). The filling itself is great, they should just sell little pumpkin pies. This dessert was $11, which they don't have openly displayed, you have to ask for the price. This is a dessert you get for photos, eating it is just a bonus.
Overall, despite not being completely satisfied, I enjoyed the treats I got here and will be back. I can see potential, I'll definitely be trying one of their pastries next...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing. As somebody who is a big fan of going to the coffee shops in this area and trying out all the different coffee drinks and baked goods, I had such a fantastic experience today.
My boyfriend and I both got an iced coffee drink, I got the mocha mirage and he got one that had caramel in it. The drinks were absolutely delicious, and surprisingly not too sweet which we loved. The syrups used in each definitely had a lot of flavor, which tells me it's most likely not some kind of cheap syrup they use.
The cronuts were everything I could have hoped for. Crispy, sugary and cinnamony on the outside, buttery, flaky and fluffy on the inside.
We got our order within five or six minutes of ordering considering the place was packed. The person who took our order and rang us up was quick and friendly.
The place is clean, and had a very nice atmosphere. All of the gold touches were nice. I definitely felt like I was sitting in a high-end coffee house.
The prices were good for the items offered, $24 for two cronuts and two large iced coffee drinks was really not that bad. You probably pay about the same at a chain coffee place, But the quality at Layali surpasses all of the other coffee places.
We will definitely be back. I will actually be moving to Henrietta quite soon, and I will be at this coffee house a...
