Let’s start with the good: |1) This property was exceptionally clean. Everything from the rooms to the lobby was immaculate. |2) Easy and quick on and off from I-87. ||Now onto the not-so-great:|We paid over $300/night for this property since it was August in Upstate NY. We stayed here for a single night on a road trip. I didn’t want to pay this much, but it isn’t far from Lake George, so I knew we’d be stuck paying through the nose.|Despite the premium charged, the breakfast was the same basic Fairfield Inn breakfast you’d find anywhere. There were no upgrades, which I’ve seen (for instance) at Residence Inn properties at the Delaware beaches and in Manhattan. Not a thing was upscale about it. The tables and floors were dirty, which I wrote off to it being a Saturday morning. People can be messy. When requested, one of the men working there apologized and was happy to clean the table with disinfectant when asked.|What I cannot forgive was the fact that there were no ready-to-go gluten-free options. Upon request, one of the men opened a freezer and took out a couple of Udi’s boxes. After waiting a few minutes, he came out of the kitchen with two pieces of bread. Since I asked his colleague if there were gluten-free options, I spoke up and asked, “Is that gluten-free?” He gruffly shoved a plate with two pieces of frozen bread at me and walked away. (He’d already been rude earlier when he overheard me asking my husband to open a package for me. He grabbed it out of my hand, opened it, and shoved it back at me wordlessly.) |What am I supposed to do with frozen bread?! I cannot put it in a regular toaster due to cross contamination.|I reported this to the front desk upon checkout and they seemed unsure of how to fix this for other patrons. I suggested they have Udi’s GF bagels thawed ahead of time. Otherwise, have a dedicated GF toaster in the kitchen. This isn’t that hard.||Bottom line: You don’t get what you pay for...
Read moreMy son attended the PrimeTime lacrosse tournament on July 24th & 25th. Originally we were supposed to check-on on July 23rd but after we found out our schedule, I contacted the property to change our reservation to 1 night, checking in on July 24th. I spoke w/Tyler Herrick, the General Manager at the property who updated the reservation. I did not receive a confirmation of the changes, so called back and again spoke to Tyler who assured me that my reservation was only for Saturday night July 24th. Still unsure, I contacted Marriott Bonvoy Customer Service, and they spoke with Tyler at the property and again the one night stay for July 24th was confirmed. I also reached out via the CHAT function in the Marriott app and was again assured that my confirmation was for a one night stay on July 24th and that I would NOT be charged for July 23rd. Fast forward to approximately 5:00pm on July 24th. I arrived at the property with my son (who had played lacrosse all day, was tired, dirty, sore and just wanted to shower and go to dinner). When I went to check-in, I was told the property was all sold out. After explaining my situation, I was told I was seen as a "No Show" for July 23rd, charged for the room and essentially my reservation was cancelled - as they had NO ROOM for me on July 24th. By the grace of GOD - Jamie, the Supervisor on duty was able to find me a room at the Fort William Henry Resort in Lake George (after standing in the lobby for 1 hour). I was finally contacted by Tyler, the General Manager of the property today, and he tells me it's Marriott's fault and not the property, so they don't feel the need to compensate me. WOW - now that's great customer service. Hopefully when you check in you have a room and don't have to deal with Tyler. My suggestion - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! (And NOT the Queensbury Hotel, as this is a...
Read moreThe staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I used the keyless option for the first time, but that really does not work when you have a guest. The front desk clerk cheerfully gave me a set of keys and let me know I was gold level (which I knew, but it was nice of her to make sure I knew).
I appreciated the upgrade, but it was to an accessible room which made me concerned I may be taking an available room from someone who really needed it. Additionally, the bed was very firm. This may be helpful to someone with accessibility issues, but we missed the melt-into-bed mattresses the Marriotts usually use.
Our room was clean and serviceable, but the tissues in the bathroom were discolored and smelled. It appeared they had been exposed to moisture for a long period. I am not sure if it was due to humidity from the shower or if the box had been wet prior to being placed in the dispenser.
The gross tissues and the hard mattresses were really the only negatives during our entire stay.
Breakfast was great. The options for oatmeal were lacking, but the staff found me a flavor that I like. They were also going around the dining area offering to remove plates and silverware. The scrambled eggs had an odd taste, but pairing them with the ham made it palatable. It was also nice that not only coffee, tea, and flavored water, but also yogurt and fruits were available all day.
We would definitely stay at this location again and I have recommended it both on social media and to people I have told...
