Dollar General — Local services in Town of Queensbury

Visited yesterday and was surprised, not in a good way, at the condition of the store, low or no inventory of food and drink items and lack of employees on duty. A lot of the refrigerated and frozen foods were completely sold out and shelves were empty. Aisles were hard to move thru due to boxes stacked up all over the store. There were only 3 of us customers inside shopping in the afternoon. I only saw two employees, one female I believe to be the manager, who assisted customers locating items by shouting out the location while she was unpacking boxes and stocking non-food items. The other employee, Judith, cashed me out and was very professional, polite, and offered assistance to get my bags out to the car, which I greatly appreciated because she could tell I was struggling with my injured back. I declined because a second female customer was already in line behind me, being impatient making all kinds of grunting and sighing noises. Obviously, she was in a hurry and was being obnoxious. The self-checkout was available, I don’t know why she didn’t use it. As I left the store with 4 full paper bags in the cart, I stepped outside to see the other female (I believe the manager) employee, taking a break smoking a cigarette on the sidewalk, where I had to walk to get to my car. When she realized I was going to have to walk with the cart where she was standing smoking, she did move further down the sidewalk, past where my car was parked. I’m very sensitive to cigarette smoke, it aggravates and affects my brain injury and I was surprised she was smoking so close to the store doors. Of course I’m all for employees taking a much needed break during their work shift, but I believe there should be a designated area where employees can take a seat and/or smoke away from the store entrance/exit and away from where customers park. This store is in a very busy location. I feel there should be at least 3 employees on duty during daytime shifts. The store needs to be stocked! So many items were sold out and there were too many empty shelves! 👎 I usually shop at the Lake George Dollar General store on Route 9. I’m there 3-4 times a month. The prices are excellent! I love that store and the staff there! They are always full stocked, I never see any empty shelves, and they usually have at least 3-4 employees on duty during the day. When I shop there, they usually have 2 cashiers and 2 employees unpacking boxes, stocking shelves, and assisting customers. The Queensbury store on Main Street needs to learn from the Lake George store location and get the store cleaned up, get sufficient inventory ordered and get additional employees to stock shelves and assist customers. I don’t know if I will visit the Main Street location in Queensbury, near Exit 18 Glens...

Went here today purposely because on Saturdays you get the 5$ off 25$ and the cashier was so rude I asked for the manager because this women was so rude and felt she was untitled to treat customers poorly just because I had a coupon on my phone app and I’m no Karen so I literally tried to stick up for myself and she said she was the manager I’ve never had this happen at any other store on a Saturday but the cashier wouldn’t give me my 5$ off coupon I even showed her the app and showed her I had the coupon clipped and she said that if it didn’t take it off at the register than she wouldn’t acknowledge the coupon it was the closest store to me not my usual store and it was 30 mins before they closed otherwise I would of went some where else but didn’t have enough time too very rude service don’t recommend going here I personally will never go to this store ever again especially if you’re a single parent and depend on the coupon deals and have one income in your house something must be wrong with their system and the cashier didn’t want to acknowledge it so just a heads up for all my coupon ppl this is not the...

updated... the employees have been more than helpful since my original review so I felt the need to rerate the store to 5 stars from one, I guess everyone has a bad day or maybe we misread what was said had, looking back it may have been meant in humor and not offensively

Very rude employee, we shop there every few days and on our last visit the cashier asked us "did you have to buy the whole fu**g store" I found this VERY unprofessional, its people like us that keep you with a paycheck! I suggest better training of your employees! If I could give 0...
