Avoid if possible!! It makes me sad to leave this review because I am editing a review I left a year ago. First I would like to say that I had stayed here four times before and always had a great experience. Even though it is a low budget hotel the staff is always super friendly and even though the rooms were dated they were very clean and provided everything I needed. So I was excited to finally return this last weekend. What I saw was disturbing. After checking in and going up to my hotel room I found it surrounded by vagrants and people that were sketchy hanging out. One person was trying to sell me stolen cigarettes and another was selling bottles of alcohol that he got from who knows where. At one point they asked me for some of my fast food that had picked up on the way and when I said no got angry. I literally did not feel safe staying here with all shady characters in gangsters hanging out there and this was in the afternoon. It made me so uncomfortable in fact that I checked out and went to another hotel room without even spending a night even though my three nights were non-refundable. I would like to say though that the staff was super friendly and I don't think there's anything they can do because with covid a lot of the lower budget hotels are being taken over. They do have a very helpful and friendly staff though. I would suggest just paying an extra $40 a night and staying at a holiday and express which is what I did.

My experience at the Grand Luxe was less than stellar, but I'm still alive so I will at least give them two stars. My wife was in the hospital for a week, and as we are not from Tucson, I needed a place to stay. The Grand Luxe fit my price range, so I made online reservations. When I showed up, their systems were down, which wasn't a huge inconvenience, but I think it added to one later on. I checked in, and stayed the night. I had reserved the room for 4 nights. The next night when I arrived back at the hotel, someone else was in my room. They'd given my room away. I was able to get a new one at the front desk. Honestly, I would have been very angry, but I had decided not to leave any of my things in the hotel that morning, so I didn't lose anything other than some travel toiletries. In my new room, there was no screw on the hot water nob in the tub, and I'm pretty sure there were plastered up bullet holes above the bed. See pics below. The cleaning staff didn't replace my towels that day, and so I had to dry off with a small hand towel. My last night there went by without incident. Like I said, as shady as this hotel seemed, I never felt unsafe and I am still alive, so I will still give them 2 stars. The front desk staff was also very helpful and apologetic when my room was given away, so I really have nothing bad to say about them. It's just not a place I would choose to stay again.

Thankfully they helped me with a full refund but it was a complete disaster. There was nothing GRAND or LUXURIOUS about this place and it certainly was not a resort. The first room smelled and when I walked in, there was flies everywhere. The refrigerator had roaches and the mattresses were both disgusting. Everything in that room looked as if it had been rescued from the dump. And that description is being generous. The second room was not as shockingly bad but it had no toilet paper, no TV, no microwave, no refrigerator, and the mattress was just as bad. I was so scared that I completely forgot to take pics. I'm beyond grateful that the guy in the front desk was helpful and he is the one who offered a full refund. Sometimes these little hole in the wall, mom and pops places, surprise you with an old time look but a warm welcome. This time it was not such a great find. I feel bad for the people who stay in these rooms. It's not normal and you shouldn't pay to sleep on stained mattresses or share a room with insects. To add to the environment of this hotel, there's more homeless people out there than regular pedestrians. Almost everyone had a sign in their hand or was panhandling. This place was going to be a total of $55. I found one down the road for $45 and it was phenomenal. Come see the pics I post of the next hotel.

Why isn't 0 stars an option? That's what I would give this hotel and their customer service. Bare with me cause we stayed for over a month. They have horrible customer service. The rooms are FILTHY!!! They have a pitiful breakfast. Only 2 choices of cereal, fruit loops and raisin bran, cold pastries (some days). Horrible coffee and watered down juice. There were only two desk clerks that even tried, Angelica and Lupita. Delina, Amanda, & the manager Tyson need to learn customer service. I was walked in on one day while half naked after showering. My daughter was chilling on the bed watching TV and a couple was evidently was booked in our room. The lady that opened the door was shocked as was I. I was given a sad apology. There were tons of vacant rooms at the time too so not even sure how this happens. We requested housekeeping several times, left for the day only to come back and nothing had been touched. No towels, nothing. By then housekeeping was gone for the day and evidently they don't leave towels for the desk clerks. Was told several times they would try to go to the back and get towels but that maybe happened once. One day we left for a while after being asked if we wanted housekeeping and saying yes. Then came back while housekeeping was still there and the housekeeper had already grabbed our dirty towels, spoke with her and she said she was doing our room next. We left to give them time to clean, came back and it hadn't been touched and of course she was gone. Let the front desk know and got an apology but nothing else. No manager ever apologized for anything ever. The laundry room for guests never worked, the whole month+ we were there. Never an apology for that. It was a job to get towels on the days we didn't want room service as well. There were 3 of us in a room but they could only seem to give us one washcloth, maybe a hand towel. The towels also always looked filthy. I didn't even want to dry my body with them. I'm glad I brought a few towels of my own. The bath tub was filthy even when we asked for full service. We never got rowdy, never broke anything. Oh yeah and they have 3 supposed ice machines. Only one worked at a time then broke down several times, then they got the second one working and the upstairs one was broke again. The hot tub was disgusting!!!! We went to the pool one day and the hot tub had trash at the bottom 🤢🤮 and tons of dead bugs. My kids were even disgusted. It's completely outdated. The floor is absolutely disgusting. My daughter walked about barefoot and the bottom of her feet were BLACK! The curtains were outdated and filthy. They sheets had stains and cigarette burns. I could go on and on about how horrible this place is. But I do have a few good things surprisingly. So as I stated we stayed over a month and only did so cause we don't have a car and moving to another hotel would've been difficult plus it was liveable. We did get a discounted rate(the Expedia price since we were a walk-in, the hotels prices were higher)so it wasn't special but something. After a few weeks of staying there I spoke with a desk clerk and she was able to get the price down a bit. We aren't on vacation but ran into a bad situation and needed a roof over our daughter's head. The price was ok. I still feel for all the inconveniences and just lack of customer service we were still overpaying. Then later I spoke with the manager Tyson and he lowered it to a good price after we told him we'd be there at least a month. Now we told him we'd stay and he lowered the price. Then about a week and a half later they doubled the price, coincidence after I spoke with DELINA about the WiFi and she told me "Well you are more than welcome to checkout and go somewhere else." She said per the manager, the price was going back up. Now the manager couldn't speak to me about this. However he saw me several times after this and never said a word, always avoiding eye contact like a little boy. In conclusion....

SO MANY CRACKHEADS!!! Please be careful dealing with the workers here. They are very rude. Alot of tiny roaches in my room when I went to look at it. Smells horribly like pee and poop! I asked for a refund and they said I had 20 min to go and report to them mind you I didn't look at the room RIGHT AWAY after given the key. They said I was supposed to sign a paper that showed the policy of the hotel and I certainly did not (they can even check the cameras) they guy who helped me at first wasn't there so by the time I went to report it there was somebody different, mind you he kept looking for the paper I signed and then when I said I didn't sign one he said the printer was broken . . . .like he just remembered it after 10 min of looking and not believing me or something??? Anywho, he called the guy who helped me 2 hrs ago & the guy was just yelling on the phone saying he told me I had 20 minutes to tell them if they're was anything wrong with room, when he didn't! It's basically his word against mine as of right now. They can check cameras to see if I signed a paper or not (which again, I didn't sign no paper they can check cameras) told me to come back in the morning to talk to Harry the manager but this place is so disgusting and dirty I didn't even want to be there nor will I even return. Also there was no TV!!! So bring a tablet or computer if you want to watch something. Bathroom was very disgusting and dirty , rips in the carpet , curtains stunk , tweakers and crackheads everywhere, it says "bar" but it's literally just some bottles they have behind the front desk which the shot glasses they had looked dirty ⬅️ I could just see all this from being at the front desk. Who knows if they have a license to be giving out liquor. They didn't want to refund me or even care about anything I told them about the room they said they can move me rooms but I didn't want to stay there anymore. What a complete nightmare. This entire place is bad vibes and made my entire family uneasy and...

I stayed at hotel for 4 days on a weeks paid stay here and i made a complaint because the door handle on the room wasn't charged they said so everytime we left the room we had to get another key made to get in my hotel room. Then when we were sleeping we woke up to spider webs from the ceiling tickling my face and tried to turn on the lights in which the only working light was the bathroom light. None of the light sockets worked except the one behind the refrigerator and that socket caused my phone to restart and go haywire and reset itself. The place was filthy and you could tell the hotel had not properly cleaned. The matresses were full of dark black stains and we did bring it to the offices attention and their solution that they gave us was we moved rooms and a possible few days extension because of the room being this way. This happened on the 3rd day and stayed that full day and upon returning back from running an errand on the 4th day the hotel staff locked us out and we were told to leave the property and that anyone who was a guest had to be on the register and which everyone was i explained and they commented that we had the nerve to complain so it led me to feel this action was in complete retaliation. They also kept my 100 dollar deposit and umor has it that this hotel does it all the time. We were rudely asked to leave and we did without a place to stay and they kept my deposit and we are going to seek further action for our refund of unused days and possibly the other unsatisfactory days we had to endure with this hotel. We werent asking for much only a clean and sanitary place to sleep until i found an apartment and this disrupted my whole agenda on finding a place by the first. We have no extra cash to get another place and its pooring rain here and the hotel put us in a really big bind today all because they were neglecting to have their hotel rooms in a good working order. Shame...
