A comfortable place to stay near our son's apartment and just off I-10 on Grant, an easy drive from the airport. I think this was a former Hampton, when we moved our son to Tucson in 2016 for grad school. It is now a Hyatt, with some improvements from before. The room is comfortable and clean. My favorite part is the little sitting area that is behind a partial divider from the bed. It has an overhead light. A very cozy corner for reading or texting, while not disturbing a spouse that's sleeping in bed. The only negative with the room is the shower. Poor water pressure and a non-adjustable shower-head. That combined with warm to slightly hot water, left us feeling less than refreshed at the end of our showers. We opted for every-other-day housekeeping and they did an excellent job of remaking our bed, restocking toilet paper and tissues, and replacing towels and bath mat. It was nice coming back to a cleaned up room. The free breakfast was delicious. Everything was freshly made that morning (6-9 am weekdays; 7-10 am weekends) and kept warm covered bowls or crocks. Bacon or sausage, hash browns, scrambled eggs, french toast sticks. Other items: fresh fruit, hard-boiled eggs, oatmeal, cold cereal, bread, bagels, yogurt, milk juice, coffee, tea. There was plenty of seating on both sides of the lobby. The lobby area also included a computer area, two quiet mini break areas, a cash bar and snack area. Down the hall was a work-out room, and out the back hall door was the pool. The staff were friendly and helpful, and available every time we walked through the lobby. Parking is on both sides of the building and in the rear. It is well-lit and surround by a 6 foot high fence. It felt safe in spite of the presence of many homeless 24/7 at the gas station and along Grant in front of the building. The trees outside the building with bright yellow blossoms always made me smile when we came and went. The color was brilliant and so "happy".

Don't stay here!!! Arrived just after dark at 8pm and greeted by a large group of drug users a few feet from the front door, at the Circle K trash enclosure. Drug deals going down in the hotel parking lot. The security guard starts at 9:30pm but clearly should start earlier. This is a complete open air drug den. Nothing at all separates the front of the hotel from the parking lot so vehicles are accessible to all the drug users. These are not "just homeless people." It's a convenient location right off the freeway with a nice iHop close by. But the bus stop and surrounding areas are unsafe. During the day time the drug crowd thins out a little. Business should invest in more lighting and a decorative fence along the entire perimeter. The rooms are clean, with no smoke odors, and the beds are comfy. Very friendly employees. Delicious breakfast with fresh food and fruits. Fresh hot coffee and a clean dining area. The elevators are pretty scary with rough movements and creaking sounds when the doors move.

We arrived at the hotel on July 12th and we're greeted by about 50 gang members in the parking lot with guns. We then turned to the other side and there were dozens of homeless people camped out. We did not feel safe. I locked myself in the car while my husband went in to chat with the desk clerk explaining to her that we did not feel safe and would not be using our reservation. We asked for a refund and she said she would see what she could do under the circumstances. We had booked with Priceline who we will also never use again. Although Leah the desk clerk was wonderful as was her manager on the phone. They were unable to work out anything with Priceline for a refund because they refused to drop the penalty for a cancellation which was as much as the room charge. It took them until now, at the end of September, to figure this out. After many many phone calls. This hotel is garbage as well as the neighborhood. It is not safe to book a room here. The gang activity and the homeless encampment make it an unsafe place to stay. Especially if you plan on more than one night or on parking a car here. I am furious that they refuse to refund our money. We were here for a funeral and memorial and this just made it the...

I was nervous from other reviews, about the safety of the area, and the number of reviews with rooms being “walked in” on by other guests. However, my experience was completely different and we enjoyed every single moment from Check in to check out. Via, at the front desk was very welcoming and kind. She made sure we were aware of the free breakfast and suggested some fun things to do in the area. Our room was very clean with fresh towels and sheets. We enjoyed having the fridge and microwave. We had no issues with other hotel guests attempting to enter our room and felt safe coming back to the hotel late at night after having a great time in downtown Tucson. The location is right off the 1-10 and Grant, but it was great for getting downtown which was only 8 mins away. We thought the Circle K across the parking lot was actually very helpful and convenient. We even walked over at night, and had no issues. The night clerk was friendly, and we walked back to the hotel no problems. All the Hyatt staff were kind, spoke and smiled, and were very helpful. Just good vibes all around! We will stay here again when in Tucson, and recommended it to others at the wedding we were...
