I had lived in 29 Palms for 24 years before retiring and moving to Wyoming. I was returning to the city to attend the retirement dinner of a long-time ranger friend of mine, as well as to do photography in nearby Joshua Tree National Park. In the 18 years since living in the city, there were a number of new hotels and motels, so before deciding where I would stay, I looked on the internet at the the numerous reviews of guests who had stayed at the various establishments. All of the reviews for the Fairfield Inn & Suites were positive, so I decided to get a reservation there for my visit. From the moment that I walked into the lobby and was greeted by the friendly staff member, Melissa, at the front desk, I knew that I had made the right choice. Everything about my four-night stay there was excellent. She placed me on the second floor, and my room was excellent, clean and larger than I imagined. The floor was always quiet, and I never heard doors opening and closing as people arrived or departed from their rooms which I have experienced at other hotels. The lady who prepared the buffet breakfast each morning did an excellent job with choices of scrambled eggs and bacon as well as sausage on alternate days - as well as a variety of sweet rolls, juices, cereals, and other offerings - more than I could ever want from which to select. The eating area was comfortable and the floor and tables were always clean. My entire stay in 29 Palms at the Fairfield Inn & Suites was a great experience, and I look forward to staying there again on my next trip to the city. I would hardily recommend it without hesitation for anyone who travels to the city, whether for business or pleasure. You won't be...
Read moreThe rates at the property are higher than other hotels around but the services fall short. The checkin was fine but we were not sure the room was actually cleaned bcoz the toilet had black water in it-someone had emptied a pot of coffee in it w/o flushing (forgot to take a pic before flushing). The room was right next to breakfast area & pool and we had to deal with loud noises from ppl till late night! The hotel really needs to have a ‘quiet time’ policy enforced. We were there for 3 nights but the shampoo ran out the 2nd day in the middle of my bath-luckily I had a small bottle of my own. The breakfast was a huge disappointment. The lady managing the area was very sweet but clearly struggling due to being understaffed. The breakfast was usually either cold or empty. We had to wait long periods between trays being restocked. Breakfast options weren’t great-scrambled eggs, bacon/turkey sausage, potatoes (they were undercooked most days), porridge, bread, juice, fruit, yogurt etc. Didn’t see to-go boxes to pack your own breakfast if you were in a hurry. The WiFi was slower as compared to other properties we’ve stayed at but worked. There was no cell phone network (AT&T) at this place but you get it as soon as you’re out on the main road. The biggest complaint we have about this property is that they charge $7 per night for Parking! We cannot understand charging extra for parking for the room rates we were already paying! It’s also the only Fairfield we’ve stayed at that charged for parking-very disappointing. They also do not upfront tell you about incidentals - $20 per night. I saw a charge & had to ask the lady at the reception. Overall was a bit...
Read moreStayed here because we needed a place to sleep for a few hours and shower in the morning... The staff was really friendly and didn't seem to care that we arrived so late like other of our hotels along the way did. Ultimately, the decision between an Airbnb and this hotel came down to the ridiculously overpriced cleaning fee at all nearby Airbnbs.
Regardless, it creeped me out that there were a few missing signs and posters of people that had gone missing in or around Joshua Tree. There was one woman who had gone missing the week before our visit. Part of our decision came down to the fact that we wanted to shoot some astrophotography at the park in the middle of the night and the hotel is really close to it. Ultimately, and ironically, after unloading at the hotel, we decided not to go back to the park in the middle of the night because of all the missing posters, the fact I'm 7 months pregnant, and the fact that there's almost no service in the park.
Most importantly, and specifically to this hotel, the night manager had the audacity of calling our room and rudely asking us to keep it down at 1 AM (which by the way, woke me up). Not only was I exhausted from the drive and being pregnant but also the heat of taking pictures in Joshua Tree. My husband answered the phone so when he told me what she said I called back immediately and told her that I was asleep and it wasn't us. Sharon, the woman from concierge insisted it was us which I did not appreciate in the slightest. To add insult to injury, the built in lights flicker and I am...
