The food was good, and Edwin our "chef" was cool too, but the rest of the experience was not good. We were seated pretty much immediately after we requested to eat at a hibachi, but that was the only thing prompt about the service.
We waited 45 minutes before my husband asked the hostess "what does a guy have to do to get a drink around here" It was a saturday night, but definitely not operating at full capacity.
During that 45 minute wait all of the waitresses avoided making any eye contact with us like we were the plague. Shortly after my husband asked, a waitress came to us and took our drink order and food order at the same time- we definitely had enough time to decide what we wanted. After she helped us, a second waitress who noticed we were still sitting there without drinks came to us and asked us if we had been helped yet, we explained we had and she asked who our waitress was. She later returned to tell us she had talked to her manager to get a 50% discount for our wait. (We would rather have normal wait times than cheaper food, but at least that eased the pain a bit.) Later, after our generally good experience that my 2 toddlers loved with the actual food part, the waitress assigned to us brought us the bill and said we would have a 25% discount , I was a bit surprised so I let her know the other waitress said it was 50% and she and yet another waitress said they talked to the manager and said the girl who told us 50% wasn't the manager so she didn't know what she was talking about. Then the girl who said 50% appeared, and was like "well you told me to tell them that" and it just seemed really unprofessional that they were arguing in front of us, but I did appreciate the waitress who was actually trying to help us. We did not really care about the money, but the fighting and it would have been better to be consistent with each other.
We might come back because the food was good, but if there are other hibachi options in Mt Pleasant I might try them instead. Maybe it was just an off night, but improvements could defiantly be made to the professionalism and attentiveness of...

This was our first visit to Kuji, so we expected it to be on par with any other hibachi steakhouse.
We ordered and split the KUJI VOLCANO (Coconut rum, blue curacao, triple sec. bitters, pineapple juice, and sprite) which we enjoyed at first, but found it difficult to drink because it was served with the tiniest coffee stirrer straws, and since the drink didn’t contain any tequila, we incorrectly assumed that the white crystals at the top of the volcano were sugar crystals, only to find after mixing a substantial amount into the drink that it was salt… we left half of it untouched because it was so bitter and salty. 🤮
We ordered the CRAB STUFFED JALAPEÑOS (Jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese, crab salad, steamed shrimp topped with chili sauce and sesame seeds) which were tasty and the best part of the meal there during our visit.
We both ordered the LOBSTER & SHRIMP as our entrees. ALL DINNERS INCLUDE: Onion soup, a green salad, grilled noodles, seasoned grilled vegtables, yum-yum sauce, ginger sauce and steamed rice (fried rice at hibachi). One of us ordered our rice with no egg (intolerance) and confirmed it with the chef twice before he started making the food. The first thing he made was the rice, all of it with egg, and when we said “oh, no egg”, he acted perturbed that he would have to make another rice 🙄. Not sure if that threw him off, because I’ve never had crunchy hibachi rice, but this rice was hard and not delectable. The noodles were cooked similarly- very hard and over cooked, as well as the poor, shriveled lobster (as you can tell from my photo and video).
I try not to complain, especially about a place I’ve never visited before, but if this is the general experience that everyone else has here, I wouldn’t recommend coming here and I do not plan to...
Read moreAbsolute disaster of an experience. Also, I rarely give negative reviews, and usually when I read negative reviews I give the benefit of the doubt.... I should've listened to the other countless terrible reviews of this place. Tried calling first to make a reservation, but kept getting a sorry the voicemail is full msg. Nobody answering, so after 15 minutes of trying to call we headed over there in person. They were busy, so I fully understood the phone issue. We set reservation for 8pm. We came back a little before 8, and were seated at 8:20pm. Once seated the first 2, not 1, but 2 plates were given to us dirty complete with hair on them. I casually mentioned to them the plates were dirty and the hostess said, yeah they are just stacked in the back those 2 mustve been on top. REALLY? Anyway, we sat at table for 50 minutes before we got our drinks, except my drink went to the guy seated at our table and they had to remake mine. (Which was another 10 minutes mind you) While waiting for the food something kept dripping on us from the overhead vent. It appeared to be some sort of yellow oil. When we said hey something keeps dripping on us they asked if we would like to move seats.... sure, I'd love not to have oil dripping on me.... at this point I had actually asked if the manager would swing by the table for a bit. I was told there wasn't a manager, and the owner was on vacation in Mexico. It was crystal clear to me that there was absolutely nobody managing the restaurant. Nobody cared, nobody attempted to make the experience better, nobody knew anything. The food was okay, not great by any means, not even close to what you would expect from a typical steakhouse hibachi. Definitely not worthy of the $100 price tag for the two of us. The super icing on the cake was when the waitress brought the check she apologized to the guy that drank my drink and gave him a discount. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Pictures are of the oil...
