We just returned from a 4 night stay at Treasure Island in room #1709. It is a beautifully decorated unit; however, there were extreme issues with the cleanliness of this unit! It was FILTHY and OBVIOUSLY NOT CLEANED BEFORE OUR ARRIVAL! We arrived late on our first night and then hit the beach the next day, so we did not notice all the gross issues until the second evening. There were many issues that were unacceptable!! First, we noticed that the floors had not been vacuumed or mopped, and our feet were dirty from walking on them. There was also a strong pet urine smell on the kitchen tile. The rooms had not been dusted in a very long time! My husband reached to get a coffee mug from the cabinet and noticed a black mold/mildew covered blender in the cabinet with the coffee mugs, which is a health risk!! In addition, there was black mold/mildew in the water/ice dispenser of the refrigerator. There was also black mildew on the shower curtain liner in the guest bath. Moreover, my husband noticed dried blood on the master toilet and one of the sinks was clogged! We have no idea if the bedding was even changed before our arrival; however, the beds were made and clean towels were in the bathrooms when we arrived, which is why we first assumed that the unit was clean, as it should be and up to the "High Cleaning Standards" that the website boasts about having. Furthermore, the website claims that "Our team inspects each unit prior to arrival to ensure the condo exceeds our guests' standards and that all appliances are fully functional." Needless to say, this inspection did not occur. I went down to address these issues with the associate managerial staff and was basically told that they "don't usually refund anything for such issues, but we could either move to another room that was not nearly as nice and receive NO REFUND, or we could stay in #1709 and they would have the cleaning staff come and clean it with only a refund of the cleaning fee of $128.47. " I felt that this was inadequate and they should refund a portion of our rental fee, as well. They refused, so I then asked to speak to the manager. I was told that he was out sick, and that he would do nothing further, but was given his business card with phone number. I called him and got no answer, but then decided to text him and send photos of the filth that was in the room. He never responded in any way; therefore, I am left to assume that he did not care that our vacation was so disrupted, and it was just our problem. Since it would have been a lot of trouble to move to a different unit, we just decided to accept the cleaning fee refund, gather our belongings and move them to the porch, so that the cleaning staff could do their job. When the ladies were done cleaning and came to the porch to let us know that we could return, the cleaning lady expressed to me that she had never seen a unit this dirty since she has worked there. I asked her if she had told the Housekeeping Manager and she said that she did tell him, and that he had seen it all, since he was present in the unit while they were cleaning. I do appreciate the Housekeeping Manager coming quickly and starting to address the many unacceptable issues. However, that does not make up for the fact that Treasure Island dropped the ball and they did not seem to think it was a big deal or even adhere to their own "High Cleaning Standards". Consequently, I would NOT RECOMMEND this condo, and we DEFINITELY WON'T STAY THERE AGAIN!!...
Read moreWe recently stayed in unit 2312 for the first time. We normally stay in unit 1601 which we LOVED, but 2312 was best fit for our growing family. The second morning when we woke up I noticed my one year old had red bumps on her. At first i thought it was chicken pox so I called her pediatrician. Not long afterwards my sister stated there was a flea on her..which made no sense due to unit 2312 NOT being a pet friendly room. My daughter had 18-20 bites on her. We notified the manager (Sean) and he sent one of his workers to vacuum the carpet and rugs in our unit. They offered pest control service to us for them to come in to terminate the fleas. They said it would take 4 hours. Long story short, they next day my husband and dad went down to the lobby because we hadn’t heard from anyone. They stated pest control told them it would be best if they treated the room the day we checked out. The manager Heather stated that since we refused pest control services they could only reimburse us $151.24 (the cleaning charge). We explained we didn’t refuse the service. She didn’t seem to care. Neither did Sean. The fleas were a big problem for us all week long on our vacation. We constantly killed fleas. We even took a ziplock bag of fleas that we picked up from the tile floor and gave them to management to prove to them we were not lying. There was over 50 fleas. Gross but true. We also showed them the bites on my daughter. Again, they didn’t care. The carpet even smelled like dogs. We’ve been staying at Treasure Island for a long time now and the service that we received this time was totally unprofessional. We will NOT go back to Treasure Island and I hope this review makes you second guess your decision when you are looking to book a relaxing vacation spot!
*I have read your respond to my post - I disagree with what you’ve stated. During our stay there was storms throughout the day and having a ONE year old it makes it difficult to just up and go find something to do and on top of that Pest Control did NOT want to treat the room until we were completely out due to using chemicals with a small child staying the the unit so your response is incorrect. Further more, the amount of money we payed to stay in this unit was too expensive to spend our whole vacation week picking fleas off of us.
*I would have responded sooner had I seen your first updated response. We have sent a letter to the owner and pictures of the flea bites on my daughter as well as fleas in a ziplock bag to show them what we dealt with while on vacation. We did not enjoy our stay and feel that Treasure Island did not handle this situation properly and that is why I made this post so others don’t make the same mistake we made by booking this unit and paying $3,000.00 for a “vacation”...
Read moreVisited August, 2014. First I must say that the actual condo we stayed in was AWESOME! The owner was great to work with. However, in the 20 years we have been going to FL, this was by far the most unorganized and dirtiest "resort" we have ever stayed. Expectations were high because of the price and photos. The CONDO did not let us down, but the resort did.
Upon arrival, we went into the lobby and wasn't greeted but had to interrupt the rep eating her fish dinner. We were definitely bothering her. She gave us our parking pass and that was that. The following morning when we ventured out there were Pigeons everywhere on the pool deck, we couldn't even sit under the gazebo because of them... droppings everywhere! Simple netting would cure this. The pool deck was dirty, the lounge chairs were very simply GROSS. We were there 8 nights and only ONCE was the pool deck cleaned and that was only with a water hose. The pool was cleaned maybe three times. The chairs were NEVER cleaned.
It rained only once while there and that was our first day. It rained for two hours, but our chairs and umbrella (that we paid for with our condo) were taken up and never returned. We had to go buy chairs and an umbrella. The next day, the wind hit 7mph and the umbrellas were taken away from us. It was explained to us that it was a hazard when winds are over 7mph. All other resorts in viewing distance still had theirs up and I am sure happy customers. Our $10.00 dollar general umbrella withstood the furious 7mph winds the rest of the day. By this time there were lots of angry people at this resort. All of which said they all LOVE the condo they were in but they would never return strictly due to the RESORT MANAGEMENT. Then to top it all off, out of three employees that were setting up chairs and umbrellas only one of them knew how to treat the public. One walked up to me and simply said, I hate this F$&@% place. I about dropped my diet coke on him. For two days all we heard were complaints about his job and his employer so we asked him to please stay away from us. The other was “babysitting” the pool and said he wouldn’t care if the building fell in as long as he could “sit here all day and get paid”. So… VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and very sad.
All in all it was a great vacation because we stayed on the beach and visited lots of local places but my advice... and I hate it because we LOVED our condo and the owner of the condo, but for the money, there are three places right by the Treasure Island so called “resort” that were just as nice if not nicer. We visited two of them and actually saw the decks being cleaned with brushes! I truly hope that it was just a bad week for the resort and this is not common practice for...
