The good: brand new hotel, clean and comfortable, right off the interstate. In fact it's so new the parking lot isn't finished yet. The bad: the check-in clerk outright refused to give me an upgrade to a larger room when the hotel was not sold out. I reminded her that I have Marriott Gold Elite status, and she still would not upgrade me. What is the point of obtaining Marriott Elite status if I can never get an upgrade? How is it that these desk clerks can do whatever they want in determining upgrades? Why wouldn't she upgrade me? I guess I have to assume its either because of my age or because I'm a woman, or both. When traveling on his own, my husband, who doesn't even have Marriott Silver Status, gets upgraded routinely at Marriott properties. Not only would the check-in clerk at the Residence Inn King of Prussia not upgrade me, but she put my husband and I in one of the smallest rooms on the floor (see photo). We then went out to dinner and when we returned to the hotel later that night the parking lot was not full and a number of the rooms were dark from outside. When we went to the front desk to let the same check-in clerk know that she should have upgraded us, and we knew that the hotel had empty rooms, she said she didn't any upgrades and couldn't explain how she made this decision, and I said I knew she was lying. This has happened at other Marriott properties since I obtained Gold Status. I've long been a loyal Marriott member - for about 30 years - but I may move over to Hilton if I keep being...
Read moreGreat location—right across from the King of Prussia Mall—and the rooms are spacious enough for families. The patio with a firepit and the bar are nice touches that give the property some charm. Unfortunately, the customer service completely ruins the experience.
From Paige at the front desk to the female bartender, the attitude and lack of hospitality were unacceptable. We checked in with a maintenance issue in our shower—no one ever came. We requested extra blankets and pillows via the Bonvoy app and followed up with a call to the front desk. We received a message saying the request was acknowledged, but nothing was ever delivered.
What really pushed it over the edge was the bartender yelling at our children not to run down the hallway—while I was standing right there. My children were enjoying themselves, and it is not the bartender’s place to reprimand them. If this hotel is aiming to be family-friendly, it missed the mark completely.
Sadly, this seems to be a pattern with hotels in our area that try to present a hospitable image—they start strong and quickly fall apart due to poor service. I would not recommend staying here, especially if you’re traveling...
Read moreI stayed at the Residence Inn in King of Prussia and initially had a decent experience. Housekeeping was excellent — the rooms were clean, and the staff responsible did a great job.
However, things went downhill when I tried to extend my stay. A front desk staff member told me the hotel was fully booked for the rest of the month. Instead of offering help or alternatives, he sarcastically suggested that I “go next door” if I needed a place to stay — referring to the hotel next to them. I found this response unprofessional and dismissive.
As a Marriott Bonvoy member, I contacted Marriott directly and was able to extend my reservation. However, I was shocked to find that the new rate had jumped to $2,700 — more than double what I paid for my initial one-week stay ($1,300). When I asked about the price increase, I was told that the manager at this location sets the rates based on demand and competition.
While the housekeeping team deserves praise, the front desk service and pricing transparency at this hotel need serious...
