There's lot of choices around Vernon Hills. Five guys, Portillos, Smash Burger, Tom & Eddies, Red Robins, etc. I had to somewhat compare when I do burger shopping with my wife. Our usual go to place is Portillos or Wendy's due to burger quality for price we pay. Sometimes we do get spoil and spend $10 more to get Smash or Five guys. My wife says she likes the freshness of the burger from five guys, but to me they takes too long to cook and play around food too much while they cook our burger. I like the business of the Portillos where always packed with customers and you see employees have no time for joke to play around.
Price for five guys usually go over $20 for two burgers and a fries. Near $30 for five minute enjoyment.
It really does hurt my wallet for the freshness my wife always mention. The taste...
To me it isn't too bad, but it had to with the cook who seasons the meat or not. To be honest, I don't really like the taste of the burger here at five guys, but maybe it's just me.
If you like to spend extra bucks for a little freshness then I guess five guys won't be a bad choice, but wait time is much longer than other joint which can be good and bad...
Read moreDisappointing, I placed my order, a bacon cheeseburger, with grilled jalapeno which the "associate" suggested, fries, and a Chocolate malt. My son who ordered just ahead of me, also ordered a bacon cheeseburger... Our orders were called, and both my son's bacon cheeseburger, as well as my bacon cheeseburger had no bacon. They gave my son some bacon wrapped in foil, and they were cooking up some bacon for me... I believe, for the price they charge for there food, you would think they'd get it right, the first time, but to skew up two sandwiches in a row, I have to say I dought I'll be coming back. I have to add, the young woman, whom I believe was the manager, handled the situation and refunded the price of the bacon cheeseburger, with the works, and grilled Jalapeno, and she was quite pleasant, personable, and tolerant of me, and I...
Read moreCan't complain about the burgers, they do a really nice job. They're big, 🍔 loaded and super juicy. Also if you order a large fry, I don't think you can finish the whole thing lol. They must have had about a half a pound in there at least. The staff was extremely friendly and the facility was extremely clean, A clean bathroom = A clean kitchen! The staff works very hard, and remember, they do not set the price of the product. They work hard and do the best they can. We went to a "Red Robin" the other day, the prices were similar, and the burgers were much smaller. They also had the three managers working in the kitchen and waiting tables, (without a day off for 3 weeks I might add) that's all they had. So, I admire the staff members of these restaurants, they take a lot of guff, sometimes it's good to give...
