I should start this by explaining why I'm so happy with this hotel, specifically THIS location, and a ray of light named Kelcee that saved the day. It all started long ago... Additional departure helpfulnessI would like to add to this review how helpful Terra has been to me as well. This whole review is like a small odyssey. I had to make some changes to my stay and it required some computational kung fu which Terra took time to make sure was completed to benefit all parties and allowing me to depart to my new home. Without her patience between my request and the few that were taking her attention during the whole procedure I wouldn't be able to make as smooth a departure. Thank you Terra! Additional departure helpfulnessI could start it like that but basically I've traveled up here to Ohio for San Antonio, Texas to start a new job which will eventually require me to move here. While I'm looking for a place to live I'll need someplace on standby which is where Extended Stay comes into the picture. I was going to reserve a room for 31 days but was waiting on an apartment complex to get back to me in transit up to Columbus from Texas. I explained the time table to three different people and when I get here I find that they won't know anything until Monday (when I start...) so I had to resort to my back up plan, Extended Stay. From here I went to both the website AND the app for Android and was told all the locations had rooms available except for two that were clearly labeled as such. First I went to the location at 6255 Quarter Horse (which is closest to my new job) and after checking the app I go inside to make a reservation. I'm told that while they DO have two dirty rooms (scheduled to be cleaned) they are fully booked otherwise. I asked if I could wait for them to be cleaned but was informed that no housekeeping was available and they would remain unavailable. At this point I was feeling like I might have to go to a full price hotel/motel. This is when I went to the Dublin location.I walked in and Kelcee greeted me with a warm smile. I asked if any rooms were available and was told they were fully booked. I was starting to lose hope at this point. I let her know that the app and website were both reporting rooms available in which she then verified there were two (one clean/one dirty) but the clean one was being held for an incoming guest. She then continued to help my situation by calling another location close by to find they too...were fully booked. This was when I assume she grabbed her cape (being a superhero and all...) and started making a brilliant save. She took the clean room and gave it to me and scheduled the other for cleaning with limited cleaning staff available. Kelcee quite literally saved the day for me. I've been in the retail and service industry for over 20 years and while many in the industry have options available to them (sometimes very simple solutions too) most of the time they don't choose to use them. Kelcee did and saved the day, week, and quite possibly the month with some scheduling and masterful hotel room craft.Thank you Kelcee AND Terra for helping me out when it...
Read moreWe had to stay here for 19 nights between closings on our homes. There were some definite positives and a few definite negatives. All in all, I would say if you are in the same situation we were, this is a good option.
The positives: --front desk staff incredibly helpful --maintenance always ready to help --housekeeping are friendly and attentive --pet friendly --affordable --King suite is very spacious and nice --Queen suites were a bit small, but were still serviceable for what they were --kitchens have what you need (but that's it)
The negatives: --not the cleanest (nothing incredibly filthy, but I wouldn't recommend looking under the beds. I have two cats who love laying under beds, so I ended up moving the mattresses and vacuuming for myself. Yes, I brought my own vacuum). --maids were, as I said, attentive, but not particularly thorough. --beds weren't the most comfortable. --internet is S-L-O-W. --TV channels limited --Pet policy states that noisy animals will be dealt with--this is NOT true, as we were constantly annoyed by a barking dog. Also, if you think the management will do something about screaming children, you would also be mistaken. --the laundry is expensive ($2.00 to run each machine per load, and most of them are out of order) --This is the big one: 10 days into our 19 day stay, we started getting bites. We were on the first floor, so we assumed a bug had come in somehow. On the 15th day, Orkin came in and found a bedbug. Only one, which we assume came in with the people in the next room over who moved in on that 10th day. They were UNBELIEVABLY accommodating--moved us to the King suite, gave us money to wash all of our clothes and laundry, got Orkin to treat that room and the ones on both sides, took the bed clothes off the bed in the King suite for us as requested, and were very apologetic. But, still, yuck. Not the hotel's fault that people brought in bugs with them, and they did treat for it, but yuck. Also, they didn't help us move our stuff, so my husband and I had to work for 7 hours to intricately clean each and every item we had to make sure we didn't move them elsewhere. It would have been nice to have some assistance in getting our stuff upstairs and getting it cleaned.
All in all, I would say this place seems to care about their tenants and it was better than what I expected of a nearly 3-week hotel stay. Don't let the bug nightmare scare you away--I'm sure most hotels have had bedbug issues in Ohio, as we are plagued with them in this state...
Read moreI don't usually leave reviews, but I have no choice. I have never had an experience at a hotel like this (and we travel and stay in hotels upwards of 10x a year). We stayed at the property on a visit last weekend to my hometown. We've stayed here before and it's a clean, convenient option. However, there are hundreds of options in Columbus and I'm not sure what it would take to make myself stay here again. This was by far the scariest experience I've ever had in a hotel.
We arrived back at the hotel after dinner to change and head back out to meet some friends. When we arrived, we head intense screaming and vulgar words. We quickly got into our hotel room, but the fighting got worse. We heard incredibly loud screaming from a couple across the hall from us. We needed to leave, but when we looked out, we saw a man dragging a woman down the hall by her hair and punching her repeatedly in the face. It was devastating and traumatic and we decided until it stopped, we could not leave the room out of fear of our own safety.
The fighting when on for nearly 2 hours. We called the front desk and the police. The police finally came, but at this point, our whole night was ruined and we had to experience and witness the most disgusting words and violence we've heard. For 30 minutes the couple slammed each other into our door. The cops came, we heard every minute it of it as it was directly outside of our door. The couple denied everything, the front desk employee apologized TO THE COUPLE who had caused such a terrible disturbance by fighting in the hallways for hours and did not make either party leave. By 1am at this point, the couple was ALLOWED TO GO BACK TO THEIR ROOM and continue to fight with each other. Our trip home was not only ruined, but we cannot stop thinking about what happened to these people - the violence we witnessed was by far the worst thing we have ever seen. Management offered to refund our stay, but I felt that it was not enough. Additionally, I do think everyone should know about their policy when it comes to violence. The fact that it took over 2 hours to stop the fighting was disastrous. The couple's fight was over the front desk attendant, so I understand not wanting to get involved, but I would rather stay at a hotel that has security in place when these situations happened. It was not only scary, it was traumatizing and it's going to be a long time until we feel safe staying at a...
