Lobby closes at 11pm. There is a phone to dial 222 for emergencies. Okay, that'll work. Upon arrival asked for additional towels and front desk denied until I asked again. I normally do not want or need housekeeping and during my stays wherever I am will exchange towels as needed. FYI I always leave a tip when housekeeping is needed and upon my departure. Advised front desk the room phone was not working. Told maintenance (I guess) about the phone as well. This was never addressed. I then went back to office requesting additional sheet and blanket but was denied. Explained I am disabled and haven't slept in a bed for years. I must create a makeshift bed using a chair and table or whatever is available. Lady at front desk denied but then went to ask permission or guidance, I'm not sure which. I was given a set of sheets and no blanket which I accepted. In fact, this trip I rented a lounge chair and thankful I did because the morning of day 3 I was in horrible pain. 2nd or 3rd day the toilet was stopped up by a 7 year old and we needed a plunger and NO ONE responded after calling the 222 for emergencies; nor contacted us about it at any point during my stay. Got a plunger from housekeeping the next day and corrected. After that we had roaches. Got bug spray from employee and once again handled myself. The door between the swimming pool and the smoking area in front of lobby was locked. Left the pool area, walked through the lobby with my 7 year old grandchild dripping wet to have a smoke. The toilet stopped up once again I went to housekeeping on my own and retrieved a plunger a 2nd time and kept it in the room. Then the night of the 31st, around 12:30am, Aug 1, after a jacuzzi bath, trying to relieve my pain, I decided to take a stroll in hopes to feel better. Thank God my granddaughter already went home. When I returned my key card was not working. Tried several times. Tried key in door to hallway for ice and still nothing. Once again called the "emergeny number 222". Called 10 times and no one ever responded. Called 1 (281) 724-4672, 8002253297, and 8004661589 for help and nothing. Called non-emergency number to police assuming, like any business should have, a number to contact after hours in case of emergency such as fire, gunshots, guests in dire need of assistance or whatever. Still no help. Surprised a business would not provide fire and police an after hours emergeny number. Noticed someone in room 136 with plants in the window and thought they could help. They gave me a number to try. Nothing. Normally I will turn the deadbolt to keep the door from locking just in case. But, unfortunately, this time I did not. I was wandering around outside in my gown from 12:30am until almost 3am without my cane, my walker, a drink, nor my pain medication until I was rescued. Again, thank God i was able to drink from their waterhose. My daughter-in-law, thank God, returned my call and drove an hour round trip to come get me only to leave less than 3 hours later to bring me back as she had to work. While here she too tried the key card so much so that it got stuck in the slot. Drivetime for her was 1 hour round trip twice. Total mileage was 130 which she needs to be compensated for. When I arrived back at the hotel a gentleman with gray hair listened to my rant and I told him I needed to see the manager immediately. I had called the Days Inn number and also left a message to contact me immediately. Waited until 1:03. Called the front desk wondering why i had not been contacted. He said i needed to come to the lobby. Upon ny arrival, David Patel was on a personal call on his cell phone and hands me a water bottle and treat to appease me until he finished his business. He finally has time for me at 1:10. Normally I would've let it go but today was not the day. David Patel and his responses to me were not acceptable. I was so upset and traumatized I couldn't discuss with him but advised him of my experiences. When I said I needed a full refund he said "well that's not going to happen". And when he said to me twice "you locked yourself out of your room", those responses only added fuel to the flame. Anyone knows in customer service and most assuredly hospitality "you" statements should be avoided. He should've shown empathy and apologized which he never did. I asked him numerous times what the purpose of the emergency phone and dialing 222 was for and why it didn't work. He never answered. I was so traumatized i was truly irate at this point which is completely out of character for me. I told him to take down that sign that said "For emergencies call 222" because no one answers it! It's misleading to guests and basically a BIG LIE. Guests are left to their own resources from 11p to 9am. I never heard from anyone for my plumbing issue, phone issue or emergency being locked out of my room. If the corporation or whoever doesn't want to pay someone to man the lobby 24/7 for proper customer service, then at the bare minimum the "emergeny number" should be ANSWERED. I was not provided a safe environment and was traumatized by...
Read moreI booked a room here for a one-night stay for work based on the glowing reviews on here. People on here rave about this place so much I thought I found a hidden budget 2-star gem. But after staying here, I am convinced this place has a lot of fake reviews from family and friends of the people that run the hotel. This is NOT a standard 2-star hotel, this place is a total shady 1-star level hotel. Yes, I understand this is rated a 2-star hotel, and I don’t expect anything fancy out of a 2-star hotel, but this place really looked and felt like a 1-star hotel where people go to do weird things. When I walked in, I was floored by how primitive and outdated everything looked, it felt like I traveled back in time to a hotel from 1935 or something. There was no elevator, only stairs, and the breakfast area in the lobby was really cheap looking with minor wrapper snacks and cereal. But I thought OK, let’s see what the rooms are like because I have been to 3-star and even 4-star hotels with a fancy lobby but bad rooms. I mean this Days Inn is owned by Wyndham, so it has to be good right? Wrong! The room itself has a horrible musty smell, I felt sick in the room. There was a hair in the bathroom sink from a previous guest. GROSS!! The TV remote did not work, I had to get up and turn on the TV. One of the back doors to get to your car is always unlocked, so anybody can walk in. This is a HUGE SECURITY problem. I complained to the evening desk guy, and he just shrugged about the back door and TV remote. There was a family and little kids running around in the hall at night and in the morning, but to be fair I preferred hearing them over shady hookers and drug dealers, which I was afraid this place would attract. The area is not itself bad, but this hotel felt VERY SKETCHY, VERY SHADY. There is no hotel staff from the hours of 11pm to 7am. Do you feel safe with that!!? If anything happens, you're on your own. I spoke to the morning person Annabelle about my concerns and to be fair to her she at least took them more seriously then the afternoon/evening guys and told me they are working on these issues. I got the feeling she tries, but the two evening guys don’t seem to care at all. I’ve been to hotels in India that where better than this. The positives about this place, I saw no bugs in my room or the halls, the location is not too far from my work and close to Kemah, NASA. It's also a reasonable drive to Galveston Island. The TV that you have to get up and turn on does have HBO and Cinemax, which is nice but then again, it's 2024 not 1984 or 1994, so where's the Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime option to link to your phone? The Wi-Fi connection was on and off, so it was not fully reliable. I saw no option for an ethernet connection in the room for my own portable modem or laptop. I used my own phone cellular service to make zoom calls. This Days Inn is really overpriced, I could have gone to a brand new Motel 6 and probably gotten something better. I avoided the other 2-star budget hotels in the area because of reviews that complained about roaches, and to be fair to Days Inn again I saw no roaches or other bugs. After staying here, I regret not going to a more reliable 2-star budget hotel. I was constantly terrified my car would get stolen or tires ripped off, or I myself would get robbed and killed here. I would not come here unless you have no other options. I will give this place 2 stars instead of 1 because I felt like the morning lady Annabelle is trying to be serious and at least the rooms didn’t have bugs. But this was not a clean place and just felt gross and sketchy. I never felt safe here. Annabelle seems to try, everyone else is just there. If you are on a tight budget or splurging on a vacation to Kemah, NASA or Galveston Island, I get it that you need to cut costs on a hotel but come on. You can't beat cleanliness and safety. Go to another legit 2-star budget place. Sorry Annabelle, I...
Read moreSpur of the moment overnight stay. The room I booked with an awesome rate unknowingly was upstairs (only two floors) and I'd just recently hurt my back. Devon was sympathetic to my situation and upgraded my room to a king bed downstairs with a sauna tub. WOW! Right? They have recently renovated as you will read in more recent comments. PROS: No more carpets in the room, just tiled flooring, new tub, new tile on the walls in the bathroom & new toilet. Two sinks, one for the bathroom and one on the counter by the coffee pot, microwave & fridge (breakfast nook). The bed was comfortable, the linens nice and soft. 40" flat screen TV. The existing AC with new ceiling fan made me freeze which is never the case, I"m always hot! Basically top to bottom new stuff including the headboard, light fixtures, furniture & counter tops. Oh, nearly forgot to mention the FREE Breakfast. Pastries, muffins, bagels, cereal, waffles & fresh fruit. CONS: 1. water pressure was okay, not the best but not the worst. I hope management reads this as I forgot to mention at check out that water around the bathroom tub spout leaks (#117). Minor fix. 2. AC although works awesomely is noisy. Too loud to watch TV at medium to low volume but drowned out any outside noise which was a plus for me. NOTE: I stay at several hotels from low to high end at least once a week and was reluctant to stay bc of older comments indicating things were bad bad BUT it's not the case. Everything was good good and SUPER DUPER CLEAN!!! BONUS: front desk will give you coupons for eating at places near by but I decided to stay in and saw that DoorDash waives delivery fee for that hotel. Ordered in and the food was to die for... I slept like a baby. You don't have to take my word for it... make your reservation and see...
