This place is not handicap accessible friendly at all and very poor parking. The entrance to the building has a small narrow slopes that we used to push the wheelchair to get into the restaurant. It was so narrow that I had to balance my love one not to fall off. It was also a very hard task, because there was a truck parked in font of the so called ramp. This was all in front of a non working drive through. We couldn't make a turn to enter the restaurant because there was a large planter on both sides of the door. We had to push it aside to enter. We were then met up with a very high threshold. It was made of wood. Like a 2" x 6," with a thin strip nail on top. We tried to push the wheel to enter but it was too high. We tried to enter by pulling it in backwards and got it stuck. The small wheels that keeps the wheelchair from tipping backwards was stuck. A staff member heard all the banging voice that we were making and came over to help. He had to lift the wheelchair up over, with our love one in it to enter. There was not a wide selection to choose from the menu. The short ribs were dry, tough and over cooked. We ordered a kid meal. Got beef quesadas, fries. Only got 2- 3 pieces of beef. I feel that should be served w/ rice & beans. Thank goodness we didn't have to use their restroom, because, I'm not sure if it is handicap friendly! They do have the best Churros! Very bad experience. Staff friendly...
Read moreI came across someone's review of El Jefe and thought I should give it a try. Well, it seems like today was the day. The hubby and I came out and gave it a try, and I can say it did not disappoint. Let's start off with the complimentary chips and salsa. Ufffffff chips were still hot as they were freshly made, and salsas were delicious. Let me mention that as soon as we walked in, we were greeted and told we could select our seating. Once we sat down, menus were brought over, and we immediately ordered drinks. I ordered the Agua de Jamaica, let me say that it was very good. My Hubby ordered a coke followed by a Michelada, which i can say to my liking it was pretty good. We reviewed the menu and finally decided what to order. I ordered the Campechano Polo and my Hubby El Trompito with a side of rice and beans. The Campechana Polo was very yummy, and El Trompito was delicious. The meat was so tender and flavourful, and our tacos were topped off with one of the house salsas. Everything was very tasteful. Staff was super friendly and attentive. The location is small, but we had no problem on wait times for drinks or food. I definitely recommend you check it out. Wish I would have taken a...
Read moreNew Mexican restaurant in league city that was recommended to me to try. They truly have something special here.
To start, don't let the high price points scare you away from trying this spot. The potion sizes of what you order are so LARGE! You'll be able to share with at least one other and still be stuffed.
El Jefe photos and reviews just don't do it enough justice.
The drinks, not one refill was needed for our entire meal. That's how tall it is.
The photos & videos of the food reviews, you really can't judge the size of what you're ordering. It's a lot!
Now what to order?
We loved the salsas!
The chicken: was so juicy, had a nice char, with just an overall great taste.
The fajitas: they use a different marinade and spices. But it was another delicious delight.
The Birria pizza tacos: We liked the beef, more than the goat. But if you like a gamey bite, get the goat. It was another delicious plate that you just can't go wrong with if you love Birria Tacos.
Lastly, the Trompito was perfection.
We didn't have one bad dish & we will definitely be back for more. Don't think there's one dish here you could go wrong here ordering.
