Towneplace Suites by Marriott West Valley City, managed by Western States Lodging Management partnered with Utah Foster Care this past weekend to provide a memorable staycation for a beautiful foster family. Thank you to our local businesses in the community for their partnership and donations towards enhancing the family's hotel experience: Kneaders Bakery: Natasha & the team from the West Valley location created a beautiful basket filled with treats and included a small birthday treat for the 2 children who are celebrating their birthdays in a few days. Altitude Trampoline Park: Hannah and her team from the West Jordan location donated complimentary 1 hour jump passes along with jump socks for the entire family for a fun outing. Krispy Kreme Donuts: Sienna & Isabel and their staff at the West Valley location provided a dozen delicious donuts. Employees from Frito Lay & McClane who wished to remain anonymous personally donated towards board games and snacks for the family. We also want to shoutout our AMAZING staff who jumped at the opportunity to help serve our adorable VIP guests. It truly takes a village to make it happen! We are grateful for the opportunity & the support we received from our team & local businesses to give the family the VIP treatment they deserve. #WSLM #WestValley #Towneplace #ServingYouLikeFamily #PersonalTouchCulture @Altitude West Jordan @Krispy Kreme @Kneaders Bakery and Cafe

It was an extended stay paid for by my company for my last two months working, so it was a temporary home. Me, my wife, our 4-year-old son, and 3 kitties stayed here from October 1st-December 2nd. The staff was thoughtful and attentative to our concerns, and they always answered our questions as best they could. Ludeen, Lola, Nancy, all of the front desk attendants, housekeeping, & kitchen staff were so helpful and never stepped away from being helpful. The free continental breakfasts were nutritious and delicious. We never got tired of it, and they did what they could to mix up the variety of entrees to the best of their abilities. The room was a 2-queen bed with an armchair, desk, nightstands, and big screen with good wifi free of charge. The suite had a kitchenette containing a dishwasher, full-size refrigerator, 2-eyed stove, a microwave, a wall of cabinets and kitchen furnishings. It also had a full size bathroom and a walk-in closet. It was exceptional for our accommodations. The staff even put together a Trick or Treat for their guests between our hotel and the Hampton next door during Halloween, which was really cool. Our son really loved it. We even got to watch the Ring of Fire solar eclipse right from our room window. This hotel was pretty convenient to a large number of our access points in the Salt Lake area and even added a few more to our list when we moved in for our stay. When we come back to visit the Salt Lake area, we absolutely will insist on staying at this hotel again. I kick myself too for not enrolling in the Marriott Bonvoy membership program. Could've made bank in points on an extended stay. Still, what a nice last two months we had in Utah. We love this area, and this hotel was just one more special piece for what was a memorable 11 years living in Utah with the last 6 in Salt Lake/West Valley. Thank you, West Valley Mariott Bonvoy.

If you have a choice stay somewhere else… Overall my stay was not good….. had set a reservation well in advance with them and when I got there they stated, “oh sorry, we canceled your reservation because you hadn’t showed up yet.” Like come on guys people aren’t going to be there right as soon as they can check in! Then they tried to give me a different room than my original reservation, finally after like 45 minutes finally got checked in. Then after going through and inspecting the room, like normal, I found they didn’t take out the trash from the previous guest. Looked at the shower and this thing was tiny! I don’t think a regular sized human could fit in in comfortably let alone anyone that likes to have a little bit of elbow room while showing and not getting attacked by the curtain. The other problem with the shower is the head was basically falling off the wall. Now let’s talk about the breakfast! Normally that can save a hotel from a bad room. Not this time the food was COLD! The only thing that was hot was the bagels that I toasted! The eggs where always cold, the sausage if you can call it that was cold then the bacon was cold but what’s worse the bacon was like shaved slices it was so thin I could see everything through it! Like my sunglasses block more light then it did. Now I no not everyone has had the experience like I did but man where is the Quality gone in this Marriott.

After reading the positive reviews online, I was really surprised by this property. My first issue was that it was dirty. As you can see from the photos I took, there were potato chips in the airconditioner - like lots of them. Secondly, there is no ice machine so we went to the freezer to get ice and found brown ice in the icebox (gross). There was also loose change on the bathroom floor when we arrived. The tub didn't look very clean as well. So - some general cleaning issues there that we were not impressed with - especially during COVID.

The largest issue that I had was that we booked this hotel SPECIFICALLY because of the fitness center. We had a long day at the airport ahead of us and I wanted to start it off with a nice run.

We went in after check in to excercise (6pm) and found the thermostat at 76 degrees. It was too hot to breathe, much less excercise. The therostat was set to "cool" but you could feel the hot air just pumping out of the vents. I reported it to the front desk and they did absolutely nothing. I told them I propped the door open with a weight to try to cool the room down and asked them to please leave it that way. They said they would and it was in their "shift notes."

You can imagine my surprise to come down at 4 AM in the morning to run and find it - again at 76 degrees - with the door closed. They claimed another guest had shut the door after working out but I find it hard to believe anyone actually was able to work out in there at those temperatures.

I sent them a message asking them why the room was set to 76 degrees, why they didnt change it despite having ample time and they told me management would get in touch with me by that evening. Which was a lie. They never responded.

I then called back yesterday to follow up after they failed to bother to call back and asked to speak with the general manager and was told they would call me back today- which they still have not done.

Nothing like a bad stay followed up by sloppy management.

Also we are Marriott Gold Elite members, which usually gets an upgrade but they put us on the 2nd floor so IDK what...

This is the second time the company has sent our reps to this hotel and both times have had nothing but issues. Despite calling ahead, double checking a week before, and trying to make sure on check in that everything was cared for, each time this Marriott has told us everything was taken care of only to "lose" the credit card release forms emailed and faxed with the information they gave. Recently they billed a large group of corporate affiliates on the second day of their stay and billed many wrong without notice. Upon investigating and trying to get it fixed not only did they have no paperwork saved but one of the reps was notified that the staff processing the requests "had no training".

Worst of all, this hotel seems to host a lot of large disrupting locals to use their pools and amenities late through the night. The locals arrive in mass with screaming children, use the pools, mess the lobby, then leave until the next night. The corporate affiliates who stayed the nights watched it happen again and again while the children screamed through the halls. On top of it all the hotel staff complained that the small group of paying business reps were "too loud" while they were chatting in the corner beneath the overwhelming noise of locals using the downstairs as a family and friend gathering area. Needless to say, the locals were never corrected or asked to leave.

The rooms were very nice with lovely amenities and a gorgeous view. The area around was small but had easy access to a great deal of small stores and restaurants. But overall it seemed more like an overpriced motel than a Marriott. If you want to pay quite a bit for a place you'll have to manage your own stay and the staff's jobs and get driven out of the lobbies to make room for over 40 locals with children screaming, then this is the...
