Target — Local services in West Valley City

On most occasions I love Target, I love the value& quality of their products. My husband and I travel to the West Valley City/Salt Lake City area for business for about a week every other month. Our preferred accommodations is the Hampton Inn a short walk across the parking lot from Target. Needless to say, we shop quite a bit at the West Valley City Target during our stay. We have had several experiences over the past two years with rude employees. One instances on our first trip to the area about two years ago, was a rude young woman’s response when we asked if Target or the grocery store across the street sell wine as she was assisting us with cash back at the self checkout. Being new to the area (we live in Florida where grocery stores and General Merchandise stores such as Target & Walmart sell beer & wine) we were not familiar with alcohol sale laws in Utah. When I asked her this question, she raised her hand with her palm facing me in a “stop” position, said “I don’t know” turned her head & walked away in an abrupt dismissive manner. Another instance on a subsequent trip was as my husband and I walked into your store, he realized he had two candy bars in his shirt pocket. We walked strait to the Customer Service desk to let them know he was walking in with the candy. Normally an associate will put some type of sticker on the item(s) or put them in a bag and staple it shut, etc. This young woman rolled her eyes, waved her hand in a dismissive motion and said “we don’t care”. There have been a few other negative experiences however tonight’s experience was out right disrespectful! We ran into your store just before 9pm to pick up a couple items, water, frozen dinners, etc. We used the self checkout as usual. I mistakenly scanned a Ketologic supplement twice. As I turned and looked behind me for an associate, I immediately caught the attention of a young lady with short, very light hair. I said “I’m sorry, I mistakenly scanned this item twice”. As she walked over to my husband & I she said “WELL THAT SEEMS LIKE A YOU PROBLEM”. I turned to her and said “It’s a problem for you to fix”. I handed her the item and as she entered her code she said “please don’t get me fired”. I’m not interested in getting anyone fired. We frequent several establishments in the area and always find staff, employees & servers pleasant, helpful & respectful. The one exception is this Target. I don’t know if it’s a training issue or a management issue and frankly I don’t care. The overall disposition, attitude and disrespectful behavior of your employees is unacceptable. Our business travels take us from one end of the country to the other and NEVER have we encountered such continued disrespect & rudeness as we have at your West Valley City Store. I HATE THIS STORE! I work at the fort union super target and I love working there and everyone that i work with is polite and goes out of their way to help people. But every time I leave this location infuriated everytime. More due to the attitude of the supervisor than the fact that i get ripped off every time i go. The first time I went with a $5 gift card and a $10 gift card and I bought a lego set for $50 which was on promo and you recieved an additional $10 gift card for. When I went home the whole transaction didnt make sense to me and the cashier seemed really confused so I looked over and over at my receipt and realized she had only taken off $5 and instead of deducting the other $10 gift card she charged me an extra $10. So I went back hoping to get the problem resolved seeing as how I only shop there to use coupons and because they offer the gift cards. again the guest service cashier seemed confused and called the supervisor over who skimmed my receipt and said just give her $5 on a gift card ( even though they overcharged me $10). I was not going to make a scene over $5 so I chalked it up as a loss and left. Again today I came in for a $25 off $100 toy purchase today and on my app it said I had a $10 gift card plus I still had my $5 gift card from the last time so I figured thats a good deal I was willing to do. I took the app to guest services who confirmed yes I did have a $10 gift card on my account ....but when I went to make my purchase it wouldnt come off. She called over the same supervisor from the last time who just looked like she could care less and just stared at us like I dont know what to tell you. needless to say The $10 was not taken off and i had another transaction to do so I moved to another lane so as not to hold up the line. In that transaction all kinds of things went wrong because the cashier forgot to scan or even ask for the carwheel app where I had all my coupons. Then when went home I realized again during the toy transaction my $5 gift card was not taken off but the cashier had kept my gift card. The supervisor( I dont really know if she is the supervisor but they call this lady any time they need help) has an attitude like she could care less about anything and all the cashiers always seem clueless plus there is usually only two cash registers open at any given time. I will never shop here again. I will go out of my way to go to a farther target where the attitude of the employees isnt so indifferent and they actually know whats going on at their...

It was super convenient and easy for me. I’m a stay at home mom with 2 babies and one of them has a really hard time going out public, he has special needs, and gets over stimulated fast being around tons of people and crowds. So to be able to order what I wanted and needed off the Target app, pay for it no the app and just walk in and show my ID to guest services and they give me my order. Takes so much stress and anxiety off of myself, my husband, my other baby, and definitely my baby with special needs. Plus the lady at guest services was super sweet to myself and both my babies and I really appreciated that! We ended up walking around for a few minutes since it wasn’t super busy, it was very pleasant, and calm and relaxing to be able to do that with my family.

Thank you for having some amazing employees, amazing app, and for trying to make life easier for so many others in our community like myself and others in our community that can’t go out shopping for what they need and have to send someone to do it for them. This app really makes it convenient to be able to do your own shopping so you can make sure you are getting what you need and want. Then being able to walk in and go to guest services and just pick it up without any hassle (at least for myself, never had a problem with picking up my items). Makes you want to do most if not all of your shopping at Target even if something might be a little more then somewhere else because of how easy it is, how convenient it is, and for my it’s ALWAYS about the customer service and you guys have ALWAYS had AMAZING customer service!
