7535 Kingery Highway, IL-83, Willowbrook, IL 60527, USA||||On this road trip, we decided to try out the red roof inns along the way because of your pet friendly hotels. We are traveling with a kitten. So last night we stayed at a regular Red Roof so we thought we’d try out one of the Red Roof Plus. I mean it has a “+” after the name so it must be an upgrade, right? Boy was I wrong. I have no idea how this hotel can be considered a Red Roof+. They should be sued for false advertising. This place is worse than the regular Red Roof we stayed in, in Nebraska, and that was wasn’t very good but much better than this place. This room looked nothing like the picture they present on the website. First thing one noticed when going into this room was the bedspread which had nasty looking stains all over them. Bed was missing a pillow. The two smoke detectors that were supposed to be there were missing (safe to assume that’s some sort of code violation). The toilet tank had a huge crack in the side wall. The air condition was in complete shambles. The desk light fixture had no light bulbs. And the coup de gras was the huge broken piece of drywall right behind the door. There no way of missing that hole. So I went down to complain and the front desk guy was like “you got the standard room”. I was like, “so all your standard rooms were in complete disrepair?” He really wasn’t too concerned that this was unacceptable for anyone to stay in and wasn’t going to do anything about it. so when I threatened to complain to corporate he decided to give me another room. One that was supposedly an upgrade but was only slight better than the room he tried to put me in. Still nothing like the inviting pictures they have on the website. Oh and when my room key stopped working, I went to the front office and it was closed. There was 7 people standing outside the locked door waiting to get into office. The guy didn’t return for 10 minutes. Ugh. On our trip, we got one of our personal clothing items dirty and were looking to wash it. So I asked about laundry facilities. They do have one, but it’s closed from 5pm to 9am. So it’s closed during the hours that most guests are actually in the hotel? So, I’m still trying to figure out what the “+” in Red Rood Plus even means. Heck, they don’t even have a continental breakfast. I can’t believe we traveled an extra 25 minutes out of our way to stay here. Now tomorrow we will drive the 25 minutes back south to get back on course. So disappointed. See...
Read moreI checked into Red Roof Inn Plus located at 7535 Kingery Highway, IL-83, Willowbrook, IL 60527 on Sunday July 11, 20201 6:30 p.m. Upon my arrival into my assigned hotel room I wanted to activate the WIFI. I noticed RedRoof was not listed in my WIFI networks. I called the front desk to confirm if I’m missing something. The front desk person kept saying ‘it should work’, yet it did not. It was late and she was rude. I didn’t press the issue. The next morning, I still had no WIFI. This time I went to the front desk to voice my issue. The front desk person again said “it should work”. She flipped a swtich before I left. I was on my way to work at 7:30 a.m. and could not verify this worked. I returned to the hotel room about 6:30 p.m. WIFI still was not working. This time I called your Tech Service line. Ultimately, they had to escalate the issue, and proceeded to give a ticket number. This was the only point I got any real service regarding this matter, but I find it upsetting that a customer had to report this tech issue and not your staff especially when you promote WIFI availability on your website.
At this point, I am planning to check out Tuesday morning due to the lack of WIFI. It is still Monday evening and I notice a spider crawling underneath the bed. I tell myself, no biggie its just one. Later, I noticed two more insects crawling around that I had to remove. With insects crawling around I was apprehensive about turning on the heating/ac unit as more might come out. I was apprehensive about using the bedding afraid I would find more. This of course left me feeling drafty in your hotel room.
Its now Tuesday morning and I definitely need WIFI as I have a meeting at 8:30 a.m. The front desk person, again with an indifferent attitude, explained ‘it should work, nobody has reported anything’. She offered to put in another room, but I am checking out at noon. She explained I would have to move my items from the current room to other room with working WIFI. Yet, I am checking out later. This resolution did not work for me and should have been offered when I first reported this.
Ultimately, my experience at Red Roof Inn Plus was terrible and not comparable at my last experience in 2012. My 2012 stay, at the same location, was...

CONS: Well, the train wreck of a day started when I arrived, was given a room that had an awful , strong smell, had burned out lights , and a TV that didn't seem to work right. And the remote didn't work, I guessed it needed batteries so I went to the front desk while I tried to air out the smell on a 28° afternoon. I asked how to find out what channels were available, and the non English response was something about they are coming tomorrow. This should have been a red flag, as I had rented the room to watch the super bowl with friends. I spent the next few hours trying to find out what channel was on the TV and the front desk just kept saying I needed to flip through channels. Turned out, their TV system was out, on super bowl Sunday. As we tried to figure out an alternative and were putting together snacks we realized the room had no microwave, no fridge, & no Superbowl. The smell was so bad we couldn't spend the night, I actually checked out at 10:00 p.m. and while trying to make other arrangements had some strange woman (another guest there) verbally berate me as I was leaving because she didn't like that my dog limps ( I adopted a handicapped dog). I went to the front desk to say I could not spend the night in a room that stunk, that the whole reason we had rented the room was to enjoy the TV and asked why we weren't told that the room had no microwave no fridge and no working TV when we checked in & a toilet & lights that weren't functioning properly. I was told it was my fault I didn't confirm what the room had when I booked it and agreed to rent it, and that they would report to maintenance the smell and burned out lights. I called corporate the next day, had to get through three different people interviewing me regarding "what was wrong" only to be told they would " let me know their decision in a week". I asked what decision? I didn't even spend the night in the room! A week later I was told they were giving me "points toward staying there again". In my mind that's equivalent to getting food poisoning and being offered coupons to buy groceries again from the same place in the future! No one in their...
