Blueberry Hill Breakfast Cafe — Restaurant in Darien

Called ahead for reservation. Sat down, not enough place.settings or cups. The waiter came and took our drink order and said he would be back. When he came back he did not bring cups, place settings or straws, so my son could not drink any water even though that's what he told the waiter that is what he wanted to drink. After more than 5 minutes, I had to flag down someone else to help us with cups. This was the first time here, so we told the waiter we needed another minute. When the waiter came back to take the order, he did not apologize for the wait time and instead made it sound like it was our fault blaming us for not being ready the first time. Yeah, right, that's why you ignored me when I raised my hand up the two times you walked by and I overheard you when your coworker asked about that and you told her in a snide wa6 "well they should have been ready so I took the other people's orders and checks". Why did he even point that out? I can see wby a man like him will never apologize for the wait. However, he absolutely ruined the mood and my appetite. This service is unacceptable and this waiter needs to find another job if he wants to treat people like this on Mother's day. I ordered a custom omelette without cheese since I am lactose intolerant, but since the turkey bacon in it was not cooked, I decided to stop eating it. The 3 orders of blueberry French toast that we ordered was dry. The blueberry waffle we ordered was cold on one side and warm on the other. The food at this establishment is incredible, but due to the pandemic I haven’t been able to dine in. I had phone orders with them , where I utilized Groupon and as I was placing my order , I was placed on hold to speak to another woman(who did not identify if she was the manager, nor did she give me her name.) I’m believing it was the manager, since she took over the call and was trying to educate me about the use of Groupon , which I’m very well familiar with . After she was done explaining how Groupon works and I let her know that I’m very familiar, since I’ve been utilizing Groupon for years. She eventually got off the phone after wasting four minutes of unnecessary explanation about Groupon, then pass the phone back to the young lady who was initially taking my order. She did not even have the common courtesy to take my order after wasting my time.I personally feel that it was racially profiled (which is very sad)and I will not be returning to the Darien, Illinois location for future purchases. You have lost a good customer and I hope everybody of color reviews this...

Jacqui was our waitress, did an amazing job with the kids order and my order. Had a good sense of humor with the kids and a funny sarcastic side for my wife and I. We actually enjoyed her service and conversation about minions items, cookies and my wife's scrubs(minions scrubs) I love the fact that she was very considerate that she brought out my kids(3) breakfast before my wife and I got ours because you know how kids are especially toddlers a 2yr old and 1yr old hahaha they can't wait but it was properly cooked and hot. So was our food. The captian crunch french toast was delicious and my wife enjoyed her lemon crepes as well. Blueberry hill always does an amazing job with new dishes for breakfast.
