This was a great location, central to most things in wilmington we wanted to go to. Across the road from Mayfaire. Quick drive to Wrightsville beach. Close to UNCW. The free breakfast was great with a toddler. The individual milk bottles were a good touch and great for transport with a little one. I liked the yogurt machine, and it would’ve been even better if there were some fresh fruit to add to it (like strawberries). There was a fruit bowl with bananas and oranges, but I would’ve loved some fresh cut fruit too. The pancake machine took forever (even more with a line), so I didn’t get a chance to try it myself but my daughter enjoyed it.
Coffee and tea available in the lobby at all times. The staff in the front for check-in/check out and breakfast time were awesome and friendly.
We loved the games and the decor in the lobby, especially the Wilmington mural.
The lotion and shampoo/conditioner in the rooms smell amazing.
The rooms do not have a lot of storage. There is no closet or wardrobe/dresser/etc. This made storing items a bit difficult. Especially keeping things away/out of reach from a toddler, like medicines. There is a pipe above the fridge that has some hangers, and then a hook on the wall, which means your hanging clothes are out for everyone to see (and you can’t hang dresses above the fridge as it hangs over). Just kind of odd. We mostly kept clothing in our suitcases and hung up a tote bag on the wall to keep other items out of reach of our toddler.
We did have one weird experience upon checkin with staff. About an hour after check-in, I heard a knock on the door and within seconds the door opened. I was in the bathroom and my daughter was playing in the room. I thought it was my husband coming back to the room but when I didn’t hear him I went to the door and looked out the peep hole and saw 4 men. One was a man in a Hilton polo we had seen roaming the floors when we got to our room. Through the door, I saw the men walked across the hall to another room, knocked and said “maintenance,” and just walked into the room and closed the door. I’m guessing they saw my daughter when they tried coming in to our room and immediately left. But it was definitely jarring and no one said anything further about it and there was no maintenance required in our room (if that’s what they were really doing). March madness was going on, so I can only assume they were trying to find an empty room to watch the game—but it did make me feel uncomfortable as one of our first experiences...
Read moreI just returned from a last minute trip to Wilmington, NC and had a great stay at the Tru by Hilton Wilmington Wrightsville Beach. I love my luxury hotels but I also love a hotel that's a lower price point. The hotel which opened last July is located in Mayfaire so it’s close to shopping including grocery stores and restaurants. It’s about a 10 minute drive to Wrightsville Beach.||The lobby of the hotel is bright and welcoming. It has four different seating areas. One area is set up for people to hang out and play pool. It has an L-shaped sectional and hightop tables.. Another space is like a living room with some cool funky hanging chairs and sofas. Another has a huge flat screen to watch sports. And finally, the fourth area has high and low top tables to work and it also doubles as tables to enjoy your free breakfast in the morning. The high-top tables have outlets for all your electronic gear. The check-in counter is at the center of it all. The circular check-in also has a variety of snacks and drinks for purchase. There is also a microwave.||The rooms are modern with wood floors, huge flat screen TV, desk with wheels, and a refrigerator. It does not have a closet but does have a rod for hanging clothes as well as a wall with fixtures that can hold hangers. There is also an iron. The bathroom has great lighting. For us ladies, this is super important. It also has a hairdryer. I had a king bed which was super comfy. The room is spacious. I know some travelers like a little more room but for me this was perfect. I wasn’t spending my whole day in a hotel room. ||For those that drive an EV, the parking lot has 4 EV chargers. It’s also a dog friendly hotel and for those of you traveling with your hoomins there is a large glass jar of T-R-E-A-T-S on the check-in desk.||I will definitely stay at this property on my next trip...
Read moreMy friend and I stayed at Tru by Hilton Wilmington Wrightsville Beach this past weekend and had a wonderful experience! The primary reason for our visit was to go to Wrightsville beach. This property was only 10min away and 13min away from downtown Wilmington. Can't beat the location! Upon check-in we were greeted by Jessica at the front desk. She was very personable and greeted us with a smile. I appreciated she acknowledged my Hilton Honors status and for thoroughly reviewing the amenities with us. Excellent job! Once we got to our room, we were very impressed with how clean the room was. I am very particular about the cleanliness of my room when I travel but for our stay our floors were freshly mopped, countertops/surfaces were wiped down, linens were clean and crisp, towels were abundant and smelled delightful. Kudos to the housekeeping team here! You can tell they take a lot of pride in their work. My friend and I also enjoyed the additional room features of having a streaming TV, USB inputs for charging, and a mini fridge. The complimentary breakfast was good offering a variety of breads, scrambled eggs, bacon, yogurt. I really like Tru's signature automatic pancake maker machine. It is definitely is a fun novelty for all ages but still very tasty! Gym was modern and spacious. Plenty of treadmills, a couple of Pelotons, lots of free weight dumbbells, machines and other accessories. Overall I would highly recommend Tru by Hilton Wilmington Wrightsville. This property is brand new and the hospitality the staff provides is what makes this place shine! Thank you for your...
