My family and I just experienced the most terrible experience of our lives. We were discriminated by an employee (Katie Waples) who called herself “the GM of my property”. She was wearing a cast on her leg. She started interrogating me after I requested two additional blankets. That triggered the floodgates of criminal accusations involving “child trafficking and prostitution”. Extremely outrageous and ridiculous. The “GM” stated that I had “lied to her” because I mentioned that the person I would be sharing the bed with was not related to me, which was true, since my niece brought a friend with her. My Mom and my niece would share the other bed and I would share the one with our friend, who we brought along with us down from NY on the way to Florida. The woman employee who called herself the GM threatened to call the authorities on me. I volunteered and called 911 to rectify the situation and the serious accusations. We had never ever experienced this sort of egregious outrage. I can only imagine how this woman treats other minorities and people of color who make the mistake of staying in this horrible place. The woman ended up kicking us out even though my Mom has a traumatic brain injury and we had traveled over 10 hours from NYC. The woman had walked to the car, got in my face to interrogate me and stated that she had suspicions of “child trafficking, prostitution” just because I asked for two additional blankets. Wow. No one deserves to be treated like this. We will be filing a lawsuit in a court of competent jurisdiction. This is unacceptable. This woman should not be employed here. She is obviously a racist who was motivated by bigotry and bias. This was a sickening experience. We booked the reservation through Expedia. We were kicked out even after she charged my card on site and even though we had a valid reservation. This is an egregious abuse and discrimination by a white racist woman on a power trip. Read moreI am shocked and appalled by this employee katie waples who just discriminated against us in one of the craziest moments of my 19 years of life. You see, I am traveling with my girlfriend and her family (uncle, grandma, my girlfriend and her 8 year old little brother). The front desk employee, an older white lady with a cast on her leg who was limping, decided to follow us and watch everything we were doing from the moment we arrived. My girlfriend’s uncle asked for two blankets for us and the employee did not like that at all. She went to “inspect the car” from the outside, gave us weird dirty looks, and confronted my girlfriend’s uncle and even went as far as accusing him of “kidnapping us” or “trafficking us” or “prostituting us”. We are two teenagers + a young child. We just drove down from NY on the way to Florida. I had never witnessed something so insane. A woman following us, accusing us of criminal activity simply because one of us asked for two blankets and stated we were tired from the long drive. This is unacceptable and extremely wrong. It is my only hope that she does not get away with this. She has essentially discriminated against us, asked us to leave the hotel in the middle of the night (about 2am) and even though my girlfriend’s grandma is disabled. This is wrong on so many levels. Thankfully i recorded the entire encounter and will be sharing it so social media. What a terrible racist woman and a horrible place. How can someone treat paying customers like that? there was no basis for this, no justification. I hope my girlfriend’s uncle sues the hell out of this place. This person should not be employed there. On top of everything she charged our credit card again even after we had already paid Expedia. Avoid this place under all...
Read moreThis hotel is a disgrace to the Holiday Inn Express name. I have always stayed at a Holiday Inn Express because I knew they provided a certain standard. Wow, was I wrong! If I was able to find a different hotel, even though it’s the middle of the night, I would. I had to demand a room change when the door to our original room wouldn’t latch. The lock had CLEARLY been busted off previously. They told me to just slam against it. You could push it open from the hallway with one finger. It was on the first floor, beside the exit door. 100% not safe for me to be staying in, let alone with my children. This room also has exposed wires lying in the floor from the a/c unit that was unable to be controlled in any way. They finally moved us to a different room, it took a while because the manager who was supposed to be on shift had left for “just a minute” 2 hours prior. The second room had a pullout sofa. I had to go ask for sheets and pillows for it. I was given 4 pillow cases as sheets and the “pillows” were rolled up blankets she put inside a pillow case. The bathtub in this “suite” is busted in the bottom so they’ve covered it with a dollar store mat that looks completely disgusting. The fake wood is peeling off the doors and the door frames are rusted. The carpets throughout the entire hotel look old and dirty. The door tracks in the elevator are filled with dirt and food. The hotel reeks of marijuana. The lobby mats are all old and stained. This is absolutely the nastiest and most unsafe hotel I have ever stayed in. This is definitely not what I expect from the IHG brand and will most definitely hesitate at ever staying...
