BUG pics are attached below. Normally, I don't do Google reviews. I'm doing one for this place. NOTE: If you are a female solo traveler, do not stay here. I'll explain below. Details about the hotel: Bugs: I stayed in 2 rooms. In both rooms there are these tiny little flies crawling in the bathroom and in the first room on the bed. Photos are attached. If you zoom in, you can see the bug. Mattress: when the assistant mgr.was picking through the bedding where I had been sleeping, I saw the Mattress and my body heaved. Toilet: In the first room, the toilet was not fully attached to the floor and was slow to flush. I stayed 5 nights. I am an easy going low maintenance guest. After the 3rd night, my stay went NUTS due to an assistant mgr. The toilet in my 1st room flooded. The asst.Mgr. tried to put this on me and lectured me about alerting them to maintenance issues. I was like no. I asked her if the hotel had flooding issues wt those toilets. She leans back and points all over the hotel. I ask her how those ppl were treated when their rooms flooded. She says well we haven't had trouble wt THAT toilet. I said why would you think it would not fail like all the others. She put the maintenance issue back on to me. It was totally unprofessional. I give up. Go down to pack up my things. I see one of those flies crawling up the side of the bed. Take a pick and call down to let the office know that I will send them a picture. A hotel operating at the lowest bar of guest care would let me leave the room then enter to take care of the issue. Here let me stop. What this assistantMgr. is about to do not only explodes basic standards of professionalism. She is about to blow up social norms of how we treat people anywhere. Within minutes this all happens at once: the assistant mgr. enters the room, the door shuts behind her, she blocks the space between me and the other bed where my bags are, starts picking through the bedding where I had been sleeping, and she is having a one sided argument about the bug. It is a heated argument telling me I'm lying about the bug. This person charged wt keeping guests safe was creating conflict wt a guest in a closed space. Imagine this happening wt a man, a couple, a family. Yeah. I spent the next several minutes trying to stay calm and maneuver my way to to the door. As I was backing out, the Mgr. stops puts her hand on her hip and points at me, We do not have bugs and I don't appreciate you saying we do! I just kept nodding and saying ok. I made it back to my room. I was trapped in a place wt no car, a Mgr who has zero respect for for my boundaries and would be the person who I would have to deal wt if I was going to get my money back. But there is also no way I can just let THAT kind of behavior go. I also know the Mgr. who thinks she can run rampant over a guest like that has a weak general manager and an owner who runs a toxic miserable system. This turned out to be true. I really wanted to break down the owner's email it is a toxic masterpiece. The emails from the gm and owner shared the same qualities that explain why the atmosphere of this hotel is abysmal. Neither of them ASKED me what happened though I clearly established that the assistant manager needed to be held accountable. A hotel operating at even the baseline level of guest care asks questions and finds solutions. The owner told me he wanted me to feel safe at his hotel and if I didn't I was welcome to leave. If I left by 6, then he would not charge me. That gave me an hour. Let's break down how chilling his attitude is. First, I had remained chill and and kind all day. I remained the easy guest I had been the first 3 nights. I have kept all the receipts to prove this. If this hotel will not meet basic standards of guest care when it involves their employee, imagine what they will do when something truly bad starts to happen. They will gaslight you and put the problem right back on you. Women know exactly what I mean. Do not stay here. If you must, bypass the hotel if you run into any issues...
Read moreI should have questioned things from the beginning, but there were no vacancies anywhere else in the area by the time I booked this room. First off, the advertised price of the room (no matter which site you booked from) was somewhere in the $85 range, but the total for the room was over $122. THIS WAS NOT A $122 ROOM!! That seems excessive for applicable taxes but like I said, I didn't have any choice since I waited too long to book a room in this particular location. I also wasn't too worried about the price since there was an indoor pool and breakfast. It's always nice to unwind and take a swim (and hottub) since the reason for the visit was to take my granddaughter to see her mother at the local prison, which is always stressful in itself. Breakfast for three, even at McDonald's is always over $20, so I always factor the free breakfast (and the time and convenience of it) into the price of a room, but this time it was definitely NOT a value. The property itself is older, which is NEVER a problem, but regardless of age, dirt is NOT welcome and this property and the room we stayed in was not clean. The grime on public areas (the pool/hottub room, floor tile, bathroom in pool/hottub room, and corners and sides of common carpeted areas, as well as walls and railings) was evident and unsightly. There was a really weird odor to the room that we could tell was coming from the lamp by the window so my boyfriend turned it off and removed the bulb at which time we could tell something was sprayed on the bulb to make the room smell better (jimmy rigged Scentsy?) The shower wasn't entirely clean so no bath for the granddaughter. The corners of the room were dirty as well as bathroom corners and cobwebs behind vent cover that was coming off of bathroom wall. We are morning coffee drinkers but the mini coffee maker in the room was missing a part (where you put the grounds, kind of important) so no coffee in the room....no problem, we'll just go down to the breakfast room. It was 8:30, so there should have been plenty (I didn't see a sign that said once items are depleted there will be no more until the next morning), but not only was there no coffee, but there was no juice, no eggs, no sausage, no waffle batter and no butter. There were some 1/2 muffins and bagel stragglers and cold cereal so that's what we made do with. We thought we'd just go to the lobby for coffee, but that was a no-go also; there was a little coffee, but it was cold. The pool has a cabin like atmosphere since there is wood paneling from ceiling and down the walls. Smells funky but who cares when you want to swim, right? There was a bathroom there also, which I'd not seen before in other hotels so I thought that was cool, until I walked in! FILTHY! But we swam (water was cold!) and hot tubbed and all was good with that. The next morning we went to swim and the pool was draining!! DRAINING at 9 am!! WHAT? No towels whatsoever, so I was glad I brought my own, but the other people in the hot tub had none and neither did my boyfriend or the other girl that came to wade in the pool. An attendant did bring a towel for my boyfriend since he heard the another girl ask for one (he came separate from us) and saw the pool draining and did a double take, like he didn't know what was going on either. As long as I'm complaining, I should note that the parking lot is cramped and like any other hotel, was full at nights' end, but there was at least one broken down car (with flats) taking up a space that should have been towed out of there. I would like to say that any one or two of these things alone wouldn't have been a deal breaker, but come one....coffee in the morning at the very least,...
Read moreRoom is very clean. Microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, desk, office chair, television, ironing board, iron and the like, all in service. Big bed with yonks of pillows. Bedding was spotlessly clean and fresh, as well as the towels.
WI-FI was working well, a little slower than average but not enough to affect anything and the signal was really strong. I mean really strong. So the Wi-Fi works better than a lot of much more expensive hotels with very fast connections but since they have terrible, weak signals, so it ends up this hotel has GREAT Wi-Fi. Whoever set up their Wi-Fi really knew what he was doing. I never got kicked off, the signal was really solid. The Wi-Fi did freeze during the morning and I had to use my mobile device's hot-spot.
The tub was deep and easy to get into. Really comfortable. The shower control was not intuitive. Most people who have not seen this type of control may need to contact the desk clerk. Since I take baths didn't need to. Since most people take showers I suppose that would be an issue for almost everyone else.
I'm not a fan of the European, one handle, guessing game faucet control, in fact I hate them, but the water flow was great and I figured out how to get it to shoot out the hot water. Just give us two separate handles for water please, one for the hot, and one for the cold. PLEASE. The European faucets are not sane. No red blooded American should ever be forced to use one. They should be illegal. Give us mixer style faucets with two knobs. One hot and one cold.
The hair dryer was working but it was broken, the GFI was permanently on and the hair dryer's setting was permanently stuck to one setting as well. So plugging in the device turned it on and unplugging turned off the device. Probably a safety code violation in there somewhere, but at least it's able to provide warm air blowing out of the nozzle.
The toilet was an old fashioned kiddie toilet where the seat is very low, not the most comfortable, but again, the room was really clean, including the wash room so there's that. I'm used to a modern, ADA compliant, adult toilet that seats like a normal chair.
The towels were immaculate and folded so intricately, that they were like a work of art, seemed like a shame to even use them.
The other complaints in the other reviews about the $50 hold above the room charge is true, thought that was odd, myself. The clerk explained that the charge is a temporary, refundable, deposit. I'm assuming that is to cover any room damage?
Service was professional and friendly, very hospitable. The desk clerk repeatedly kept asking me if there was anything else I wanted. Very nice. Also the clerk is on duty 24 hours.
So the place was so clean and comfortable and the desk clerk was really professional and helpful, the price so reasonable, I couldn't help but be pleased with the accommodations.
I can't help but overlook all the issues. The room was clean and neat, the bedding was fresh and immaculate, and the desk clerk was really professional and friendly and that...
