My family loves Mexican food. We have been to many Mexican restaurants in & out of Oregon. We're not paid to test restaurants but we do and our review makes it sound like we do. Lol
Before anything else, staff was kind, attentive and respectful. Atmosphere was similar to Mazatlan & appeared clean. No complaints.
For everything else though...
Firstly, the salsa was sweet(in a bad way) & overly liquid(think chunks of ingredients swimming in water). It hardly had any flavor. Terrible first impression of what to expect from the restaurant.
That alone, we almost left. We even called another restaurant we both enjoy to see if hours were accurate on Google(to see if we could enjoy dinner there). We ended up not being able to make it in time and decided to stay.
Then, we ordered food(something we were familiar with to test out what their food was like). We agreed it wasn't disgusting but not great. We'd give a 2-3/5.
My boyfriend ordered dessert(deep fried ice cream) and he said it wasn't all that good either, not terrible but not great. (For reference, his favorite food group is ice cream)
The alcohol we ordered was long island iced teas(2 total). This is our go to drink of choice as we rarely drink & appreciate the sweet taste with our alcohol. It was strong, that's the pro. However it was like drinking directly from a bottle of mixed alcohol, it had very minimal sweetness like a typical long island.
After all that... Before tip is was $80!?!? Insane for what it was! We go to our favorite Mexican restaurant (with significantly higher quality Mexican food, AMAZING service, etc. & It's regurally $60-$70 before tip)
It upset our stomachs, overpaid for dinner and we're highly disappointed as we've heard good...
Read moreThis place is fantastic. My girlfriends and I frequent here whenever we are in Portland or put exploring Oregon ( Most of us are from Washington or California ) and everytime we stop in everything has been incredible. Tonight we went and even though there was the dinner rush, everything was still fresh, waiters remained friendly, and the food was still quick to come out.
The waiters are friendly and know the regulars by name, the salsa and chips are always fresh and hot, the food is great and very authentic, and there is never a wait time more than 10 minutes to get a table.
There's only been one time my girlfriends order has been messed up. She wanted beef in her burrito and they gave her chicken. She's allergic to chicken. However, they apologized, let her keep it, boxed it up which let one of us take it home for dinners for the next few days, and brought out a new one within minutes. They didn't charge us for either.
This place is a gem. It's hard to come by authentic Mexican cuisine let alone one run by a family who actually cares about their customers and the quality of food. Unlike a lot of restaurants, they don't rush you. It's not a how fast can I serve this table and get them out kind of deal. Most of the waiters and cooks like to make conversations with you and enjoy getting to know you. I cannot recommend this place enough. It's just outside the city in a smallish suburban town. You end up usually passing through the town it's located in anytime you're outside the city running errands or exploring or doing activities, so it's a very...
Read moreThis place IS and has always been amazing to me and my family. We’ve been eating here for the past 5+ years. The staff has become like family.
Our hearts are breaking after dining here tonight…. as always, the food and service were exceptional! Sadly, politics has now trickled into a beloved restaurant, greatly affecting the staff… to NO fault of their own! We have loved this place and still do.
I want to volunteer my time to help in any way I can!
My heart is breaking! I am older and have been raised to believe our country was to be a safe haven and land of opportunity (as the Statue of Liberty states). My grandparents were for different countries and worked hard to give me life here. My grandfather was in WWII and my Dad in Vietnam. Juan Colorados in Wilsonville has always employed hardworking, talented and amazing individuals.
My heart hurts to see politics harming those I consider “Mi Familia” (paid for or not).
Bless those who work here and have worked here. 💜
PLEASE! If you come to enjoy yourself in this establishment, be kind and be patient! They’re suffering the effects of an idiot president (as are we all in this country). Last night we saw families allowing their kids to dump have the contents of their plates onto the floor while patrons next to them asked for quicker service! 😱 This lovely restaurant and its staff have made it through Covid (not easily) and are now directly and greatly affected by Trump! This is NOT their fault or within their control. Their food is still fantastic and the...
