My wife & I went for an overnight specifically to use the sauna. We checked out three hours after checking in. First the positives: The jacuzzi was fine. The room was clean and of decent size. Many reviews complain of a moldy odor but we did not notice this. The hallway did smell of cigarette smoke but this is more on a guest than the hotel. The parking lot smelled of sulfur dioxide but this was likely from the adjacent salt marsh rather than sewage and should in no way reflect on the hotel. ||Now the negatives: There are two saunas, one for men and one for women. The women's sauna was not working. The staff looked at it twice but gave up. My wife would not go in the pool because the water was very cloudy indicating a high bacterial count. The walls of our room were paper thin and it was obvious that sleeping there would be difficult. So after three hours we checked out. Now many hotels would give a full refund, but we just asked for a small discount on the $200 we had paid. The manager stated that he could not give a discount because we had booked through Expedia. The room was booked on the hotel website. The manager's claim that we used Expedia sure looked like an outright lie. At this point I would still give them 2 stars in recognition of the positives. Unfortunately there is more. ||||The hotel also put a $60 security deposit pending charge on my charge card. That is fine but should be refunded after a day or so. Almost three weeks later I called to ask why the $60 pending charge remained on my credit card. The front desk informed me I would receive it in a few days minus $10 that is "nonrefundable." Now this room was listed at $150 and right before you book they slap on an additional $50 "tax and cleaning charge." Evidently many hotels do this - the State Attorney General calls it a junk charge and hopes to do away with it. When we booked there was absolutely no indication of this other "nonrefundable fee." They also nickel and dime in other ways. Check in time is 4 PM. If you want to check in 3 PM there is a $20 fee. In the past hotels gave the courtesy of letting you check in early if the room was ready. ||If it weren't for the antics with the $60 security deposit I would give...
Read moreMy husband and I enjoyed a lovely stay at the Bayside Hotel! We would be happy to come back for future trips to Cape Cod.
Our room was clean and comfortable. We chose to book a whirlpool suite, which was fun to use and nice to have in the room. The room included a nicely sized mini-fridge as well, which had a small freezer compartment. The A/C worked well and we were able to set it as low as 65. We could hear other guests in the hallway when they moved past our room, but we were not able to here any sound from the neighboring rooms.
The included breakfast was exactly what we were hoping for. Pancakes, waffles, muffins, and pastries were available to daily and in good supply. There were also bagels, sausage, and eggs. The fresh fruit options included apples, bananas, and oranges. There was also an assortment of coffee and teas to choose from. Not super fancy, but very tasty and a great way to start the day!
The hotel includes two pools (indoor & outdoor). Both were well maintained and clean. There is also an outdoor seating area right next to the salt marsh behind the hotel that includes two gas fire pits. My husband and I loved sitting out there in the evenings and watching the osprey nest in the middle of the marsh.
The staff were friendly and attentive. Our room was cleaned each day, including daily replacement of the complimentary water bottles. If anything ran out at breakfast, staff quickly provided a replacement/refill.
On a neutral note, this is a family friendly hotel. We did hear children walking/running through the halls every so often, but my husband and I were not bothered by noise past bedtime (generally around 10:00pm for us). There is an adult only hour in the evening at the indoor pool. Other than that, there are not really any "adult only" spaces at the hotel. If that is something that is important to you, this may not be the place for you.
Another note to consider: the building is not accessible. There is a ramp at the front of the building that can be used to access the main lobby. To enter the rest of the hotel, stairs are required and there are no...
Read moreWe’d love to come here off-season. This was our first time during February break. I personally feel they were under staffed for such a busy time period. I feel the staff are also a little disorganized or it could’ve been the system. Doesn’t give them what they need to help people. I ordered a package item and they said basically to prove it and their receipts don’t have the package listed. Fortunately, they were able to find that I did in fact buy it, but I think their system is severely lacking. The pool was horrendously packed. I think part of it is that they allow food in there so people literally camped out for the entire weekend we were there. I think it would be nice that people can bring in a drink, but not have all their meals there. It was nice that they had a lifeguard considering how many kids were in the pool that isn’t always the case when we’re here, but we also go on slower weekends in October as well. We did have a snowstorm over there. Everything was salted to ensure no one slipped. I do wish that they wouldn’t require sign out of the pool towels. It really jammed up check-in because people were trying to get towels at the same time everyone’s trying to check in for their rooms and everything’s held at the front desk. I feel like they should just sign out automatically for towels and include that as part of the damages if four towels aren’t returned, they just charge the room. If people wanted additional towels, then those in the room, they can go to the front desk and sign them out. Seeing all the issues at check-in I just signed out my towels at that point in time. They definitely need more seats in the pool area. There’s a whole wall that could have chairs. I do like this location because it is in the middle of everything. There’s a lot of restaurants even off season that are still open in this area and I do like that. It is close to Hyannis where there is shopping a...
