When talking to my hair stylist about wanting to book a weekend away on Cape Cod, she mentioned that she had just stayed in the "cutest place ever," the Uncommoner. I checked out the website, and it was the exact vibe we were looking for.
Upon arrival, we were excited to see that our room overlooked the outdoor pool. There was music playing throughout the grounds, further amplifying the fun atmosphere and transporting you to a little paradise on The Cape. The check-in process was smooth, and to be honest, I was excited to peruse the unique gift shop while my boyfriend completed the check-in. It's full of unique items and set up like a little apothecary. They have great Uncommoner gear, cute notepads, matchbooks and a supply of Guild+Pepper body lotions, shampoo and conditioners which are in each room. They have an oak scent that was lovely. Our room was clean, smelled fresh, and was full of little accents like antique photos, nods to vintage goods like an adorable bedside rotary phone and a turn dial radio. Modern conveniences like a Keurig, a safe, a very large smart TV (which allowed us to watch the Sox make it into the post-season), and USB compatible lamps were a great addition but also didn't distract from the vibe. Cheers to the designers and decorators, well done. The lighting was low and romantic, but the vanity and bathroom had wonderful bright lighting. The French and tarot card themes throughout the grounds and rooms give the whole resort a cohesive artsy vibe. We had beautiful weather, and spent time at the outdoor pool as well as the indoor pool. Both were so enjoyable. There are fire pits and comfy Adirondack chairs spread out throughout the resort, and we enjoyed sitting by the pond in the late afternoon. Each space here is well thought out, and we truly felt spoiled. Our only feedback would be to increase the towel size at both pools. We brought some room towels poolside to meet our needs.
The staff were hard at work maintaining the beautiful plants and cleaning the grounds. Although Gypsy Sol, the on-site restaurant, is not yet open, we were having fun imagining how all the beautiful patio spaces on the grounds would be used. There are stunning painted murals, string lights and lighted trees outside of Gypsy Sol's future space. Uncommoner is located in our favorite town of West Yarmouth, and within driving distance to many of our favorite Cape destinations. We are looking forward to returning to Uncommoner when the coffee shop and restaurant are ready, and we wish the Uncommoner all the success in the future. We absolutely...

From the moment we arrived at The Uncommoner, we were blown away. Each building has its own unique theme, and we stayed in the Moroccan buildingâan experience in itself. The room was spotless, beautifully decorated, and so peaceful and calming that I honestly wanted to take it home with me!
The bathroom setup was so well thought out, with the toilet and shower separate from the vanity area. The large mirror and vanity were perfect, and the shower was not only spacious with gorgeous glass sliding doors and tile floors, but also stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. I especially appreciated the little detail of a bar to rest your foot for washing or shavingâbrilliant! No bathtub, but the shower more than made up for it.
The room was stocked with thoughtful extras: a great clothes steamer, a quality hairdryer, and a Keurig with pods. And the bedâhands down one of the most comfortable Iâve ever slept in.
The pools were another highlight. The outdoor pool was spotless, surrounded by small cabana-style seating areas (available to rent), plus high tables and chairs for dining poolside. The indoor pool was just as beautiful, surrounded by windows so it felt bright and open, with plenty of loungers to relax on. The grounds were immaculate, with Adirondack chairs and gas firepits scattered throughout. A little further down, we found more chairs overlooking the waterâabsolutely perfect.
Though the on-site restaurant is still on its way, the lobby is already stunning, with a small gift shop and lovely restrooms. What truly sets The Uncommoner apart, however, is the staff. From the champagne offered upon arrival to the incredible service throughout our stay, every single person we encountered was warm, helpful, and genuinely kind. A special thank you to Lisa, who patiently helped with my booking and answered all of my many questions with such care.
The location is fantasticâclose to Hyannis, restaurants and shops on Main Street, and just a short drive to Chatham and other Cape Cod favorites.
I cannot recommend The Uncommoner enough. Every detail is so carefully thought out, and our stay was nothing short of exceptional. I would stay here again in a heartbeat,...
Read moreThe hotel property is generally alright. The modern appeal looks similar to the photos. But make no mistake, this is essentially a motel with a refreshed look â maybe trying to feel like an ACE Hotel in Palm Springs, but⌠itâs not.||The front desk and management deliver a poor experience. When you enter the check-in area, youâre immediately put under the spotlight. No smile, no warm welcome â just an intimidating demand for your ID and payment information.||The rooms are okay but rather small. We didnât like that the sink was separated from the bathroom, which makes it tricky for parents when managing different sleep schedules for a child.||The biggest frustration: no cafĂŠ or restaurant was actually open. Instead of listing this prominently on their website â for example, with an announcement banner or during the booking process like hotels do when the pool is under renovation â they hid it somewhere deep on a subpage. For us, looking for a resort-style experience with dining on property, this was a huge disappointment. When we raised the issue, the front deskâs response was purely defensive: âItâs listed on the website,â they said, adding that they offer bikes so you can ride to nearby restaurants. Thatâs a joke if youâre traveling with a two-and-a-half-year-old.||I requested to leave just one hour after check-in, once I realized no restaurant or cafĂŠ was open. I was told a manager would call me back. That was Saturday. No call came until Sunday. We had to stay the first night. The next morning, the so-called manager told us she wasnât authorized to handle money but canceled our second night. I was promised another call that weekend. By Tuesday, I still hadnât received one. When I finally followed up, they said the general manager was on vacation and would call me on Thursday. Long story short: we never received any call back.||This feels unprofessional and borderline deceptive. We were charged USD 427 for a stay at a property that neither delivers whatâs advertised nor handles guest concerns with care. The management avoids responsibility and shows no interest in genuine hospitality.||I cannot recommend this property and strongly encourage others not to be fooled by the pretty pictures. Hospitality is...
