Unfortunately had a horrible experience here. I never bother writing a review, good or bad, but this experience just necessitated it. We were a party of 7 (6 adults and 1 toddler) there to celebrate my parent's 40th wedding anniversary.
We sat down for dinner at 530pm. Our waiter was friendly, but all over the place. Our drinks took over 20 minutes to come after ordering. Even then, two of the drinks were completely wrong including a margarita that no one ordered (more about that later).
Once we ordered our food, it took nearly 30 minutes for just our appetizers to come, and then an additional 40+ minutes for our meals. When we got our meals one was wrong as they brought out an extra filet mignon meal (we only ordered 1, again more to this later).
Our waiter rarely came back to refill our waters, and when we asked for more drinks, it took 4 times asking for him to even bring one of ours over.
The meals came out and after the wait, my prime rib was cold, and the veggies were bland and just saturated in oil. My sister's scallops were also luke-warm. Again, we didn't complain as we just wanted to get through with dinner and get going as we needed to get my 2 year old home to bed because it took so long. She was clearly getting fussy (which the waiter clearly saw and commented on).
After explaining to the waiter that we needed the check, he instead brought over a complimentary dessert "for the long wait", being completely tone deaf to us saying we needed to get our clearly overtired little one home.
We then got the check and this is the straw that broke the camel's back. The waiter never removed the margarita or extra filet mignon that he erroneously brought to our table. Rather than ask him to fix it, I went to the host stand and talked to the manager.
I politely explained the situation and said that we really need to get this fixed so we can leave and get my kid to bed, and just voiced our displeasure with the service, especially given the special occasion. The manager was EXTREMELY rude and just continued to tell me that they had 300 reservations and over 100 walk-ins, as if that was an excuse for the issues (again, this is the Cape and a popular restaurant. I'm pretty sure they have busy nights regularly). I said I understood but that it doesn't excuse the bill being wrong. He got very rude, raising his voice at me in front of other patrons waiting in the lobby, and making a scene, completely embarrassing me.
I just asked that he remove the duplicate filet order and margarita from our bill, and maybe consider taking off the meals that were cold. He told me to circle the items that were wrong or bad on the bill and he would remove. I did so and he revised the bill. I looked over the revised bill and he still did not remove the extra filet mignon meal, nor the margarita. I again explained that I am not paying for meals/drinks we did not order. He then gave a big sigh and begrudgingly removed the filet. My 2 year old was at this time having a full-blown meltdown from being overtired and I jsut paid the remaining bill and left.
It wasn't until I got home that I realized that he still charged me for the margarita that we never ordered.
This experience was horrible, and frankly upsetting that this is how we had to celebrate my parents' 40th anniversary. We love this restaurant, but not sure we will ever go back given how poorly we were treated by...
Read moreI just have to say good luck if you eat here. I made a reservation and we were sat at the reserved time. After sitting for 20 minutes our waiter came over to us to give us water and take our drink / app order. At the 40 min mark we got our drinks and a plate of oil for bread and took our entree order. 10 mins later we got the bread. At the 55 min mark we got our soup. I sat without a drink for 30 mins. Not even my water glass was filled. I got up at one point to just grab the water pitcher to fill it myself. When our entrees arrived at the 90 minute mark we were super excited. The food LOOKED good. Unfortunately it did not taste good. The lobster was cold, over cooked, and chewy. The risotto was cold. Same for my sisters plate. My friends veggies were cold and her chicken was chewy and overcooked. Mind you our waiter had multiple chances to come check on how our food was but never did. We each only had a few bites of the food and were done. As a non confrontational I went up to the host stand to talk to someone because we just wanted to leave. I let the host know we just wanted to pay for our drinks and apps and leave. The host informed the waiter and the manager. The waiter came and grabbed our food and said with attitude “sorry it wasn’t up to your standard” and the manager came over not even 5 minutes later with new plates of food. I told him oh we just wanted to leave at this point. The manager was dismissive and tried to bully us into taking the food. We had already decided we did not want to eat the food as we were turned off by how bad it was to begin with. We flagged down the waiter and explained we just wanted the bill but the manager brought us new food that we didn’t want. He walked away in the middle of us talking and grabbed the check. We paid and the manager immediately came back over apologizing saying they were slammed and short staffed trying to making people happy. While I completely understand being understaffed, I know that there are ways to pivot. The manager then grabbed the check book after I signed and inspected the tip I left. The way my friends and I were talked down to and dismissed was extremely disrespectful from both the manager and the waiter. They kept walking away while we were talking to them and were condescending. I truly believe if a man was sitting at our table with us we would not have been treated this way. At the end of the day we were there for 2 hours before we could finally leave As a side note: the couple sitting next to us were trying to pay and leave from the time we sat down until an hour and 15 minutes later were finally able to leave. The people behind us were talking about how their food was also chewy, cold and not good to the point they just decided to bring it home...
Read moreDO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS. I went on Saturday with my girlfriends. I went several years ago and had a very different experience, so I’m not sure what in the name of god happened to this establishment. When we arrived, we noticed immediately that it was 80 degrees in the restaurant. It was a hot weekend so we overlooked how uncomfortable it was. We first ordered martinis. I ordered a sunset martini, and my friends ordered the watermelon martini. My drink was brought out with a fly and a maggot floating on top. Yes, you read that correctly. I noticed as soon as the drink was placed in front of me and showed the waitress (who also immediately saw the insects floating on top), and she said she would bring me a new drink. Unfortunately, the other martinis tasted horrible, and coupled with the fact my friends were creeped out about the bugs in mine, they asked for some glasses of wine instead. They did not ask for money taken off - we are not difficult people - but the manager was then called over. The manager, Eric, asked us if we expected he throw $50 down the drain and told us this is what martinis taste like (we are no stranger to martinis- they don’t taste like that). I responded that I think we had been pretty patient given that there was a fly and a worm in my drink and that we would just like new drinks. He responded with an eye roll, “a bug and a worm, huh?” I was flabbergasted. I will never forget the way this misogynistic man patronized me when we had been nothing but polite and patient. When the new drinks arrived, Eric (also described as the tan, leathery man in other posts) was terse with us but did say he took the other drinks off the bill. I’m guessing he checked with the waitress about the bugs. The food soon arrived. The bang bang shrimp was good. Everything else was horrible. The chicken champ looked like slop on a plate to be quite honest. No one ate or was inclined to stay for dessert. The fact no one liked their meals was not addressed. To be honest, I don’t even care that the food wasn’t good. I’m leaving this review because I’m extremely upset at how we were treated. The attitude, body language, and blatant disrespect that the manager displayed is frankly unacceptable. Do not give this place your business unless you want drinks topped with maggots, underwhelming food, and a side...
