Update: We came back to CA for a memorial service for one of our friends. We stayed here for two nights. This time it was 5-star all the way. Ayres Yorba Linda really is a nice property with excellent amenities, friendly staff, and an upscale vibe while giving good value. We plan to stay here whenever we come to OC for visits.
One caveat: with both of our recent trips, in April and this past week, once checked out and discovering that I had an issue to discuss, I was unable to reach the front desk. I would be put on hold forever, and tried this multiple times, without success. In the first issue, the $100 deposit was left on my credit card. In the second issue, I left my suit in my hotel room. I had to resort to emailing Ms. Stephanie Rench, the hotel manager, who was very responsive and took care of the issue promptly. Still, it is frustrating to need to talk with a live person at the hotel and being unable to reach the front desk.
My wife and I returned to Orange County for a visit to family and friends. We moved to Idaho last June and this was our first trip back after having lived in Placentia for 9 years and my wife having grown up in Orange County.
I was aware of Ayres, having shopped at Costco and Home Depot nearby when we lived in OC. I was pleased with our experience. The hotel exterior is very nice and kept up. El Torito is right next door, and as I said, Costco and Home Depot are nearby, as well as other shopping and restaurants within an easy drive. The property is located just off of the 91 freeway, very convenient. Despite having a room facing the freeway, with our window closed, we did not hear the traffic. There is plenty of free parking, though the lot would fill up at night.
The lobby is attractive and comfortable, and the staff are very nice. Our room was on the 4th floor. There was a long hair on one of the pillows when we first arrived. Otherwise, our room was very spacious and clean, with a good sized tub/shower, sofa, and king bed that was very comfortable. The AC and TV worked fine. The bathroom toilet flushed well, the shower water was hot and with good pressure. The bathroom fan was a little weak. There is a nice fridge and microwave, and a blow dryer was provided.
Daily service was very good. You have a choice as to whether to have your sheets changed, and for that you need to place a sign on the door.
My only issue was that the $100 deposit was not removed from our bill upon checkout, and was charged to my credit card. Not a big issue, except when I tried to call the hotel the morning of May 2nd, starting at 7 am, i was unable to reach anyone over four calls, with wait times up to 16 minutes. I finally emailed Ms. Stephanie Rench, the general manager, and she called me within a few hours and took care of the problem, issuing me a credit with an accompanying email. The need for repeated calls without anyone answering the phone is the reason for taking one star off my review, otherwise it's five star all the way.
The next time we visit, I would definitely stay at Ayres Suites...

I wish I got her name but she is older, and has long blonde hair, and glasses, and she was SO unbelievably rude, and totally ruined our stay here. She knocked on our door one day saying she was house keeping, and when we opened the door, we saw that it was just her and indeed NOT house keeping (not sure why she had to lie?) and then she asked us if she could take a look inside our room, why? I don’t know, but we told her yes, and she came in and took a look around, and was completely rude to me before she left commenting to me about how I was sitting in one of the chairs in OUR room, and then left. Later we find out that she was saying that we were throwing bedding away? Which is not true!! And we have no idea where she even came up with that! Then when it came time to check out, my boyfriend and I made sure our room was nice and clean and spotless because we felt like she was the type of person that would try to charge us later on for some crazy charge trying to say we left our room dirty or something like that, so after we checked out I realized I forgot to take a picture of how clean we left our room, so I tried taking a picture of it through the window from the outside, and the manager went to check the room RIGHT after we left, so she walked in while I was trying to take a picture of the room and walked straight to the window and closed the curtains on me so I couldn’t take any pictures of how clean the room was!! (You can see in my pictures where I got her right before she closed the curtains on me) Too bad for her I had already gotten a couple pictures but HOW UNBELIEVABLY RUDE OF HER!!! The amount of disrespect she showed us, and how uncomfortable she made us feel really ruined our time there, and we were really disappointed because we were having a good time up until she ruined it for literally NO reason at all!! I can’t believe how unprofessional the manager is compared to the employees. The employees there were nothing but nice and respectful, but the manager needs to go through customer service training again, or find another profession because she completely fails when it comes to treating the guest with respect, or even just having manners. I’m still in complete shock with how unprofessional, and totally rude the manger was to us, and I’m extremely upset because it completely ruined our time, and our stay there, and we will definitely never be coming back here again! My advice is to find a new manager asap because your current one doesn’t know how to treat the guest right at all!! Very disappointed and...
