Worst Super 8 ever. Let's start with the good stuff.
PROS: Beds seem fairly new and were firm, comfortable. Toilet seemed fairly new. Room was spacious. We booked a King, Queen, & Sofa Bed. Night stands on the sides of each of the two beds. Check-in was easy (Expedia) Fridge/Freezer combo, mini microwave, coffee maker (didn't use any, so don't know if they worked or not) Security Cameras surround the whole property (why?????)
CONS (hope I don't get tired typing): Smoking is allowed on the premises, including smoking rooms. Ours was a non-smoking room, but across the hall (a few feet away) were smoking rooms. The point of people wanting non-smoking rooms is that they don't want ANY smoke. Having smoking rooms across the hall defeats this purpose!!! Duh! Our room (one of the more expensive rooms) wreaked of stale smoke trying to be masked by Fabreeze or something of that ilk. Hallways were even grosser. The back entrance door was incredibly loud. Every time it opened or closed, it was like a big bang. We were fairly close to this door. It had a 3-4 step stoop then onto a sloped dirt area. Not really conducive for bringing in/out luggage. Cigarette butts littered the whole property outside. It looked like a cigarette landfill. Every time we tried to enter the building, some smoker standing, puffing away at one of the entrances. A/C located right next to the Queen Bed in the corner of the room. It should be more centrally located. Our kids were super cold and we could barely feel it as we were on the other side of the room. A/C SUPER loud when it was on. The room was poorly designed. I wished I had taken pics, but I didn't want to remember this room in any form after our trip and my reviews. Placement of things seemed odd - the location of the A/C, where the TV was, which wasn't really viewable from either bed or the couch. It was faced to an area that had no seating. Incredibly small bathroom with an outer vanity sink that was even smaller. Definitely could not accommodate the 6 people the room is supposed to. 1 towel hook - for 6 people? The bath towels were sooooo rough they felt like you were wiping with Brillo pads. The toilet paper was so thin you could see through it. The height of the vanity was good for someone under 5' total. This should be regular height for regular people. My daughter is 5'3" and it was too short for her. The shower head was so low that me being 5'5", it was eye level for me. I can't imagine for a 6' person that it would seem like bellybutton level for them. The carpets were so soiled, I'll bet they were never cleaned in all the time the motel has been in existence. Thankfully my husband listened and brought flip flops to wear because you don't know what disease you might get walking barefoot on the carpet. The blackout curtains can't close all the way. Wished I brought push pins to tack the curtains to the wall shut. My kids couldn't connect their tablets to the WiFi. My husband and I used Verizon's network and the kids ended up having to use our phones' hotspots. We reserved a 4 person reservation, but there were only enough towels for 2 1/2 people. Guess they have troubles counting up to 4. I had called 2 1/2 - 3 hrs earlier to confirm our reservation. Ceilings and walls had little to no insulation as we could hear every footstep above, which sometimes sounded like a herd of elephants romping in the African safari lands. Hallways smelled like stale cigarettes, beer and who knows what else. One 3-drawer dresser for 6 people? Light switch operation was strange. I don't even know how to describe this as it took us a few minutes to figure this out. Tap water tasted weird. We ended up using bottled water to brush our teeth. Shower pressure weak, which made using the toilet needing to flush more than once. No Kleenex box with tissues (no box at all) For a room that accommodates 6, should have 2-3 luggage racks. You don't want to put anything on the floor.

Read moreI feel that before any review is written there should be a description of the person leaving the review. Just so that is known where I am coming from. I'm a tall slightly heavier person so there were several things about the hotel that I was not particularly fond of. For one the shower and bathroom sinks are all very very low. Second to that the beds are dated and have Springs poking into you if you're not used to it. I think the staff have probably been on the wrong side of a lot of disgruntled s* people. I think this because the start of most interactions were weirdly awkward and mildly antagonistic until they understood i wasnt trying to get one over them. I had screwed up my reservation and only put it for two nights when I meant to put it as three. I got the sensation immediately that people have tried to do something shifty in the past and was met with a little bit of hostility. Once they realized i was just going to pay for the extra night because that's what I wanted anyways they immediately became much more cordial. The location of this place is absolutely perfect for just about anything you want to do it within Yucca Valley. There's restaurants nearby within walking distance and I did not notice much of any of road noise due to the orientation of the building. Their air conditioning units were absolutely crushing it. Granted we were in the middle of winter, but whatever temperature I wanted my room at it got there quickly and relatively quietly. Room rate was higher than I feel Yucca Valley justifies, but when I went to Joshua Tree National Park and saw how many vehicles were there I suppose only makes sense that the pricing is where it's at. The Super 8 in Yucca Valley is a very solid middle-of-the-road Hotel establishment that you'll find in any of the towns nearby. If you're looking for the best hotel you'll want to stay at the Best Western, but if you're just looking for a place to put your head down the Super 8 is...
Read moreAbsolutely horrendous customer service. We booked a month prior and used a service for a lower price , and booked with my debit card. We arrived at around 5 pm and I went to pay for the room , only to be told that they only take credit, which was not specified on any of my confirmations. The only thing included in our reservation confirmation was a clause saying that you must present a credit card at check in and it’s buried in paragraphs of check in information. Fast forward , I found someone who could lend me a card to use as I DO NOT HAVE A CREDIT CARD , and the manager was extremely rude and laughing as he told me that he can’t honor my reservation with someone else’s credit card. I had already spent an hour trying to figure this out. I tried to stay calm and asked if he could nullify the reservation and the person who’s name was on the credit card would re book the reservation for me , because they had planned to stay with me for a few nights and it would be no problem. The manager then said he would not honor the reservation , would not rent the room to the other person , and would not help me cancel a reservation that he was now refusing to honor. All of the other hotels , motels , etc. we’re fully booked and I had to stay two towns over ( a total of forty minutes away) because that was the only place with a similar price point that could accommodate me and my dog. The manager was rude. Laughed at me. I had to ask for the corporate number four times before he stopped ranting and gave it to me, and overall the worst experience of my life and I didn’t even get to stay there. You’ll have better luck...
