Last Friday was my first time trying this place out and it was not a disappointment. I’ll be returning when in the area. The 3 staff that I came across all have excellent customer service! Ya Gin is the name of the employee that works the counter and brings out the dine in order. She was patient and attentive! And very informative, she elaborated on the ginger 🫚 honey 🍯 tea I ordered being available either hot or cold. I’ve always had it cold and prefer it cold. The tea is homemade and sold in a jar 🫙 to make your own at home! ❤️‍🔥 Sara cooks the food and came out to see what I thought of my order! ✨💛 Lea was the counter staff when I returned the next day to purchase a jar 🫙 of the ginger 🫚 honey tea. I was unfamiliar with the jujube fruit and she made me a sample! I ended up buying both jars 🫙!! Photos L-R: SIDES of cucumber 🥒 salad, kimchi and carrots 🥕 salad that came with the KIMCHI FRIED RICE, MENU for the name of next photo and the two jars 🫙 of tea. I initially ordered take out and ended up dining in. Which Ya Gin was kind and helpful with my change. The ambiance is welcoming with the friendly staff and all the beautiful plants 🪴 They’re so much yummy 😋 options to choose from! There’s also premade kimchi, cucumber 🥒 salad and seaweed salad. If you’re a local or a visitor support this friendly and delicious 😋 restaurant. ❤️‍🔥 Thank you Ya Gin, Sara and Lea for your friendly and excellent customer service! ✨💛

This is a surpisingly rare find in the high desert - 8 Star Cafe delivers authentic homestyle Korean food that's honestly on-par with some more expensive Korean restaurants I've been to in LA. I appreciate the selection of choices on the menu; it caters to a range of palettes. From kimchi fried rice or dumplings, to Soon Dubu Jjigae, everything I've tried is absolutely delicious. Pictured are my favorites: the Spicy Pork Bulgogi and Japchae (glass noodles), which come with homemade sides (aka banchan) and rice. Their homemade kimchi is also very very good - better than what you'd find in most Korean Markets. I usually buy a jar to take home. I'll also point out that their boba and Taiyaki seem legit! I don't see many places that actually have a taiyaki press... excited to try it one day when I actually leave some room!

First time coming here and I was welcomed like I’ve been eating here for years. The two ladies working were so friendly and patient with me as we decided what to order. We went with the dumplings, spicy pork rice bowl, and japchae. Everything was so delicious but the spicy pork was definitely my favorite. I’m so excited to come back and try their other dishes. Everything was so clean and they never let my side dish bowl stay empty. Very generous and prompt with the refills. While dining, I saw a take out customer leave their drink behind and the cashier grabbed the drink and raced out to the customer’s car to make sure they got it. Such amazing service! I’m already trying to figure out when I come back here again

We have been popping in here to get thai tea and macha green tea after my daughters guitar lessons. Decided it was time to write a review and throw up some pics. The thai tea I get is okay but it tastes like it is made from a powder and not a brewed tea which is a bit disappointing. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. The macha, according to my daughter, is awesome which is why we keep coming back. I have not eaten here but I have seen the plates. For the portions I have seen people getting in relation to pricing it is way overpriced. Also, there is a lady who I am assuming is the owner that is posted up at the back table of the restaurant who is always just sitting on her phone with a huge mess all over the table like she lives there. It is an unpleasant site in a restaurant, and frankly makes me not want to eat there especially when the rest of the restaurant is immaculately clean and tidy. It almost sparkles when you walk in. They definitely spent some money remodeling and buying nice equipment and countertops, etc. As far as the staff, they are extremely nice which is the main reason I am giving the place 3 stars. Every person that works the counter is so nice. Keep it up staff! You are the reason we continue...

I think this place is mislabeled as a cafe when it's really more of a restaurant. My kids and I stopped here to grab a beverage and get in some work/study time. We ordered our drinks and a jar of kimchi and asked about wifi.

The main counter worker was very friendly, but we were then greeted by the owner (?) with a lecture about using wifi at a cafe and that they would give us the code if we promised not to stay long. Sure, I know that some people camp in these places, but it would have been easier if the person has just said no and not assumed that we were there to take advantage of the wifi. We did just spend nearly $30 on kimchi and overpriced boba.

We did not feel welcome at all.

We ended up leaving after only about 45 minutes as the vibe was def, "get out and give us our table". Again, if a restaurant I would understand, but both Google and Yelp got us here via our coffee search.

Lastly, while I bet that the Korean food is amazing (the kimchi was excellent) the boba was not. Not only overpriced, but my two boba drinkers did not even finish theirs.

Sadly, even if jonesing from Korean during our stay, we will not be back. Maybe next time after the sour...
