This is my go to spot for groceries in Yucca Valley. Both stores have fantastic meat departments and they always have some kind of steak sale going on pretty much every week. The staff is ALWAYS helpful and courteous. I don't really shop anywhere else for groceries up here.
UPDATE 9/2020
I am in utter disgust this morning. I went to Stater Bros. West in Yucca Valley like I do many mornings for 20+ years. I waited for them to open and proceeded to go inside. Mind you... I was the only person going in. I was stopped by an employee who told me I could not come in because I wasn't a senior. The last I read... early hours are for seniors and people with compromised immune systems. I politely explained to her that my daughter was a type 1 diabetic (which is an ADA protected disability) and that I always come early before my wife goes to work so that I don't have to bring her into the store. This employee told me that there are no parameters for that and that I'm not sick so I couldn't come in. Well... my temper got the best of me and I let her have the business. For that I was wrong. I am bummed because I love this store and know probably 75% of the people that work there on a first name basis. Sadly to say, I will never go here again until this person is corrected and I get a formal apology. In these dark times, some people are just completely ignorant and it hurts my heart to have to deal with this kind of idiocracy. To my friends at SB west... I will miss you but Cathy... short courtesy clerk lady with dark hair and glasses... shame on you. What happened to customer service???? You are an...
Read moreYou know the employees used to be happy there, I don't know what happened exactly, but you can see it, in the employees attitudes. No one's happy, seems to me like something was taken away, more like something was promised, and it was never followed through with. Or something. It's Easter, one employee was talking about no holiday pay for any holidays anymore. I'm not sure what's going on, they'll let you buy rotten tomatoes LOL. Poked my finger rite in it lol. In a more serious note, the overall customer service is not what it used to be, that is for sure. Something wrong with upper management, somebody's definitely looking the other way when it comes to the overall well-being of the staff, and the customers shopping in there. It's just cold. The vibe, it's cold hearted feeling, it's almost like the prices have been too high for too long, the employees are stressed, you see all these high prices, no one gets raises, I see a bunch of new people there, I bet none of them are full-time. Seems to me like they don't want to pay anyone's healthcare either. It's amazing what you can see just by walking around. Seriously makes me want to go shop somewhere else, although you erks do have the best price for eggs...
