Bahodir is an excellent starting point for exploring Samarkand- a 7 minutes walk to the Registan and about 10 minutes to Bibi-Khanyn Mosque in the old town. There are no restaurants in a radius of about 15 minutes walking, but there are several small shops selling bread, cheese, drinks etc. around of which we recommend the closest one (walk out of the gate, turn right, turn right again onto the alley coming from the registan and then first left, the shop is on the right side) as the owner was really really nice and the selection was a bit bigger than in other shops. The rooms are more or less what we have seen in other places in Uzbekistan with good facilities but not so comfy mattresses (seems to be a common problem tho). Some of the rooms only have solar water heating, so make sure that you get one of the gas heated rooms in winter. The general set up of the place is really nice, with great views over the old town and even the Registan and nice relaxing outdoor seating. I felt like some plants or decoration might lift this place to a whole new level, but that might just be me. The best part about the hotel is probably the owner and his family, who run this place in a very professional, polite and yet personal way, always supplying us with tea and advice while staying in the background leaving guests...
Read moreDon’t be confused with Bahodir Hostel, because this is a different place! Yeas, they share a name because they are owned by brothers, and they are only 400m from each other, but Bahodir 2 is a regular hotel with private rooms. The rooms and bathrooms are wholly satisfactory for Uzbekistan at this budget, and the staff are quite helpful and attentive to your needs. You are met with tea, biscuits, bread and watermelon upon checking in. Secure parking within the building is available for two cars, but the streets leading up to the entrance are designed for 12th century horse carts and not modern vehicles, so beware if your vehicle is anything larger than a compact car. Though, we did see a giant Land Rover Defender in there, so it help to be an exceptionally skilled driver as well. Laundry and money-changing service is available as well. Location is excellent, and is less than a 10-minute walk to the Registan, and close to other...
Read moreGreat location. Lovely breakfast. Probably gained a few pounds staying here. Nice view and vibe sat on the traditional tea tables looking out across the city while drinking tea and eating.||Big place with a large courtyard. Probably room to park here are entrance can accommodate two cars. Saw several Mongol Rally stickers here and a German number plate during our 4 nights here.||Staff were very kind. We didn't ask for much information from them, and they left us to it, but they were friendly and helpful when required.||Wifi was dodgy for two days and great for two days. Same with hot water. As others have posted take a closer look at the mattresses, mine was pretty worn. ||Easy place to find using Maps Me, you'll see a sign leading you to turn right down a side street and there you'll see about 30m down on the left a large modern dark red gate several metres high - enter through the small door...
