Came here as my original booking with Airbnb didn't go so well, as the bed felt like it was made out of stone. Picked this place because I saw a review stating their beds were soft. Unfortunately for me, the Vietnamese prefer rock hard beds, which I'm not used to as I have a temperamental back, so I needed somewhere with a softer bed, nothing too soft, just not a concrete bed. I also wanted to try another district as district 1 was too noisy and busy. When I arrived the concierge was very friendly, and I asked if I can go up and feel the bed, as I had not had a decent sleep since arriving to Vietnam (2 days into the trip). I was satisfied with the bed, so I decided to go ahead with the booking. The apartment was nice and clean and it was serviced everyday if you wanted it, and they provided good amenities. I would have preferred an actual fridge than a cooler box because it's so damn hot in HCMC, I needed to have drinks very cold when I got back after a long day. Overall good stay, but my room was only divided by a locked door, as it would open up to another bedroom for a different configuration if needed. Therefore I could hear the next door guest talking loudly, packets opening etc. which was annoying as it went on late into the night and started early. Quite a noisy apartment, not overly soundproof. The staff were overall friendly and accomadating. The random rooster was fine, too, I didn't mind his noise lol bed was comfortable and clean, no smells, air-conditioning was clean, and the room overall was comfortable and cosy. A kettle is provided which is nice, as I am I...
Read moreI recently stayed at Emerald Central Hotel in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City, for one night and had a pleasant experience. The hotel is centrally located, making it convenient for both business and leisure travelers. Its proximity to the airport ensured an easy commute.
The room was spacious, well-equipped with all basic amenities, and had a comfortable work desk, which was useful for my business needs. A safety locker was provided to store important documents and valuables, along with a small refrigerator. The large glass window offered a nice view of the surroundings, adding to the room's appeal. Additionally, there was a dining table for four, making it suitable for small gatherings.
The bathroom was clean and well-maintained, stocked with fresh towels and essential toiletries. Housekeeping did an good job in keeping the room neat and tidy. Free Wi-Fi was available, which was reliable for work purposes.
For breakfast, the hotel provided a customised menu where I could choose my preferred dishes. The meal was served with a side of salad, yogurt, and fresh watermelon. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
Overall, my stay at Emerald Central Hotel was comfortable and hassle-free. The combination of good service, value for money, cleanliness, and convenient amenities made it a great choice for my short stay in HCM City. I would recommend it to travelers looking for a decent, well-located hotel with...
Read moreAbsolutely the Worst Hotel Experience – Hostile Environment!
I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels across 9 countries, and Emerald Central Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City ranks as the most unwelcoming and hostile experience I’ve ever had.
Right at check-in, they make you sign a ridiculous list of "agreements" filled with fines and penalties. Lose the key? That’s a 200,000 VND fine. Want an early check-in even when rooms are available? Not allowed. And the list of potential fines is absurd—no wet towels on the floor, no garbage in dustbins, no packed breakfast if you check out early, and even compensation for stains on bedsheets or pillow covers.
To top it off, the rooms are tiny, and the staff made it clear that if you violate any of these “rules,” they reserve the right to refuse your stay. As if that wasn’t enough, they literally come and inspect your room before you check out, like you’re a suspect in a crime.
I have never encountered such an atmosphere of distrust and rigid policies in any hotel. There are plenty of better options in Ho Chi Minh City that understand hospitality, unlike this place. Avoid Emerald Central...
