As good of a deal as this hotel might seem online, don’t feel scammed.
My girlfriend and I booked this hotel based on overall score and location for our final leg of our Vietnam trip. At first the hotel was quite good. The room itself is clean, food is good, and the location is perfect. However, the illusion of luxury is all too true.
We paid for a package for the VIP 1 for NYE as traffic in HCMC is horrendous plus having the convenience of the hotel is nice. When we inquired about the packages with the hotel (on 3 different occasions mind you) no one could tell us the differences between each package. We had to call the restaurant to find out. We were told that the VIP 1 package included a course menu of food plus our choice of red wine, white wine, or champagne.
Come tonight for NYE, we sit down and are greeted with a bottle of Moët. The waitress pours us our glasses. 5 minutes later, she tells us that she was wrong and asks us to pay additional money for the champagne as it isn’t included with package 1, although we were told it was. What?
After a few minutes of going back and forth, she says it is okay and offers us a bottle of wine as well. Great, but not so fast.
This doesn’t happen. We ask for the manager and discuss what had happened. We just want a clear line of communication as nothing is exactly clear as to what each package includes. We are then told we will not get a bottle of wine and just told sorry. They smile and ask how the food is.
At this point, we have had a few small things happen. When we were originally told we can keep the bottle of Moët, the waitress clears our glasses with champagne still in them and brings new ones out. We don’t understand why.
Also, we had bruschetta as our first appetizer. A waitress brings a smaller plate to change them but drops the tomatoes off of them onto the original plate. Instead of putting them back on the bread, she takes them away and says sorry. Huh?
As a 4 star hotel, how can service be this poor? And also, how does the staff not know details of what is included in their packages they clearly are trying to sell for NYE? There are 10 other hotels on the same street. We decided against doing a NYE dinner at the Park Hyatt for the convenience of staying here. Don’t make the same mistake.
Had they been honest of pricing and what was included, I would’ve been completely okay with buying more wine or champagne on top of the package. It’s NYE but I’m sitting in my room typing away because of how poor customer service was.
A small detail to mention: I had a suit and two shirts delivered to the hotel from a tailor here in HCMC. Front desk calls my room to confirm they were delivered and that they will bring it up to my room. Great!
30 minutes later, I’m wondering why they haven’t brought it up yet. I’m on the 2nd floor. It doesn’t take 30 minutes to go up the elevator from the front desk. I had a club sandwich made and delivered faster from room service here.
I call the front desk to ask again and they finally bring my suit and shirts after waiting a good 30 minutes after their initial call to let me know it was delivered.
With everything said, there is no communication, customer service, or sense of luxury at this “4 star” hotel. We spent the last few days in Hoi An and our first part of our trip at the Park Hyatt down the street. Spend a bit more money and stay there instead. You will save a lot more in headaches.
Positives? Room is clean, food is good, location is good. Once they have your money, you are...
Read moreVERY RESPONSIVE||Our flight was scheduled to arrive at 1:40 AM, Vietnam Time. I sent a message to the hotel about the schedule, and they were responsive. I was even asked if I'd be needing some help. When we got to the hotel at around 2:30 AM, even if late, we were greeted and assisted cordially, as if we arrived during working hours.||LOCATION IS NEAR THE ATTRACTIONS|It is literally a walking distance from all the tourist attractions in District 1! There are also a lot of convenience stores nearby for your late night needs.||ROOM IS WORTH THE MONEY||I booked a room for three, and it was more than I expected. The beds were spacious enough. The queen size could even fit three persons, and the single could fit two. There is a tub with a window with a view of the street (with roll down curtains, of course), giving you that Italy Vibe. Both the room and the bathroom are spacious.||STAFF IS VERY ACCOMMODATING AND FRIENDLY|ROOM CLEANER IS VERY THOROUGH||The staff of the hotel is very friendly-reception, dining, and housekeeping. They will really provide you with your needs. Here in the Philippines, that kind of service will only be given to you in a hotel worth three times the cost of your stay in Nhat Ha L Opera.||As to the housekeeping, they are really thorough in cleaning. Our room was very clean after we asked for a make-up. Supplies are also abundant.||FREE BREAKFAST IS SUPERB||The breakfast buffet will serve you with all kinds of food- Vietnamese, European, American, etc. They have different stations for each. Imagine having a "GLOBAL BREAKFAST". Moreover, the food tastes really great! Their Pho is as good as that from a specialty shop. I sort of pigged out and forgot about my diet for the duration of my stay because the food was really good.||OVERALL||Overall, this is highly recommended. I will definitely book here again when I come...
Read moreThe gym is fairly well equipped relative to other Vietnam hotel gyms and feels modern||The pool is quite small about 1.2m deep throughout. The pool area feels quite slick but is again quite small - there aren’t many sun beds if you want to lounge and these are placed in the pool where the water is ankle high.||The breakfast is very good. A great spread and a lot of the items are high quality. The sushi was fresh and delicious. The noodle bar was also quite tasty. The dessert section is a little small but the desserts are very good too. The only issue is that even though a lot of the food is good quality, there were a lot of items that became cold making them inedible - like their wedges. ||The service is ok at best - maybe below average but that is because hotel service in Vietnam is generally very good - although there was one time when I was in a lift and a staff member told another staff member to take the stairs so I could get to my floor faster… ||Overall good stay - great breakfast,...
